I haven't been in this Mod section for a while and straight away I forgot how great it was.

This was the first thread I clicked on and saw a Reaver titan and then I saw that Flesh hound
I'm going to have to keep track of this forum again as you people do have some amazing stuff.

i like it, but i feel as a flesh hound, it should be a bit more flayed on the surface of the skin in some parts showing the muscle beneath.

oh btw chip thats a banelord titan/warlord variant not a rever(though those will appear too. if warhunter is feasible)

What on Earth does a Death Cultist, which is a Daemonhunters Elite unit, does in a mod dedicated to one of the most well known Chaos Legion ????

i wondered how long it id be before some one brought that up
fluff wize heres a quote from gw about dcas
"Death cults can be found on many Imperial worlds; many are Chaos-spawned and lend servitude only to Khorne the Blood God. Others are religiously, fanatically dedicated to the Imperial Creed and offer those they slay to the Emperor"
anyway ours doesnt have the weapons or gene advancements of her imperial namesake, but does have demonic advantages to help her kill in the name of khorne. overall shes more snarly gruff and ragefilled.
gameplay wize shes a fast stealth fighter, hard to hit and packs a nasty punch. she also has the ability to get in and out of combat situations fast. overall it makes her very different to the other mellee unit in the kwe arsenal and provides variety for the player whilst still being very khornate.
she does require alot of micro management though, put her in the wrong situation and she wont last long
she takes up a secondary commander role btw

    Well...
I cannot say I support the move to add uncodex units, but it's your mod.
As a matter of fact, Khorne armies really lack females.

Well, due to my somewhat brutal, straightforward play style I'll more than likely be going with the Juggernaught Lord as my secondary commander.

EDIT: Also consider that this mod has some elements of the old Daemonworld army list taken from it (ie. Beastmen). I think it's a reasonable possibility that Death Cults would arise upon World Eater held daemonworlds.

Sure, but the Blood Cultists would have seemed more natural to me.
Oh well... it's just a small thing compared to the great units that have been shown.

well most of the stuff in kwe mod isn't in the codex, mainly as theres little world eaters exclusive stuff in the codex.
i just go by the fluff from throughout kwes history to make a true legion. plus i put stuff in to fill gameplay roles as without varied gameplay this mods gonna fail and be a one note pony.
blood cultists would forfill a very different role in gameplay terms to a dca, just think of the kwe dca as a nimble female chaos lord, as thats what she is really.

    What are Blood Cultists?

Also, are you guys still doing the Death Dealer Dreadnought or are you going to be doing a full blown Death Dealer daemon engine?

EDIT: Any chance you could change the Bloodletter's colouring to be more like the Flesh Hound's?

Going back to what was said about the whole death cult assassin thing, being odd that their in both imperial and chaos forces. It's not really when you think about it. Guardsmen have their lost and the damned alternative personas for chaos, then of course you have chaos marines for space marines. Death cultists are fanatic killers. It makes sense that they could also be followers of khorne.

the dd will be a choice of relic unit, and in gameplay style will be Topsy turvy in a general to what you'd expect in order to give variety.
its a half way house between the sporadic firing doomblaster and the infantry shredder brass scorpion.
unlike these 2 relics(which will remain secret), im gonna show all who read this thread how i go about creating the dd in dow, with images. from sketch concept to finished article. it wont be a tut as such, just an interesting (hopefully) insight as i go along

news; dca is almost done being textured 99%. tempted to change the beastmen for blood cultists what you think? ive got some ideas for level architecture/decals which ill look into constructing at some point

Interesting Catwell! Sounds good! I also hope to see the dca soon.

IMHO you should keep the Beastmen, they work nicely with the retro style of this mod (adding an element from the old Daemonworld list). They also provide some nice variation from the standard Cultists of vanilla Chaos. In gameplay terms they could end up being very interesting, featuring fenzon/explosive collars. Visually they would also be very menacing, especially if they were to be equipped with very large axes and swords and scaled to become a horde unit in later tiers(with 15 men a squad or somesuch thing).

Personally I think that you should have Cultist builders. For example a Cult Priest with a retinue of 5 Cultists of moderate fighting skill. To begin with he builds fairly slowly but he can sacrifice some of his retinue to Khorne to gain a bonus in speed for a short period of time.

Anyway though, that's just my two cents, it's your mod, do whatever you want with it.

news; dca is done, working on the renegades where i've hit a bit of a wall. nuriels got net issues so theres no coding atm. so were slowed down temporarily on all fronts

ok we'll keep the beastmen btw. though ive got a different idea for the builder

I would find this really, really useful, Catwell. I remember seeing your old website and some of the earlier models you made, and you've come along in extraordinary leaps and bounds. Any insight you wind up offering into the creative process of modelling, texturing and animation via this kinda-blog process would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the Fleshhound, does the fleshy ruff / collar spring up when it gets ready to attack, like a cobra's?

I'm also happy that you've decided to keep the Beastmen, but this stems purely from a selfish standpoint. At some point, I'd like to tackle:

IMHO you should base your Beastmen off of the Khorngors from WHFB. Except that they should have some armour, probably daemonic in nature with faces, mouths etc., and some las pistols (or some sort of ranged weapon) to compliment their CC weapons.

where beastmen eaten by tyranids too? Or perhaps they were eaten by squats, who were then eaten by tyranids?

Perhaps then eventually the tyranids will be eaten by an old woman...

They come from the Rogue Trader era when Beastmen were available for my beloved Necromunda guard army.

I'd love to make an Imperial Guard penal colony army. Rough-arsed Sarf London accented dudes with barcode tattoos on the backs of their shaven heads, rag-tag Beastmen packs with zealous pack leaders in patchwork Guard armour bleating their simple loyalty to the Emperor, Commissars fidgeting with remote detonators for explosive collars. Hell, frenzon and explosive collars for everyone, baby!

wow i wasn't expecting so many reply's on the beast men, actually ive never seen any40k beast men minis before, and ive seen a lot of old weird minis
im still not sure how to do em really, but ill think about that later.
the flesh hounds have spiked collars, that arnt retractable as there metal. the flesh between the blades is the remnants of unfortunate victims.

The Epic ones just look like standard fantasy Beastmen with laspistols, they don't look very Khornate though, what about using these guys as a base: http://uk.games-workshop.com/beastso...re-gallery/10/

This could be their squad leader: http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefr...155&orignav=13
