I can't help but feel like Inquisition needs more early anti-tank. Right now you have to wait until tier 3 to get anything decent, like meltas or dreadnoughts.

Balance issue bro.. in any case, you haven't been apart of the 1+ year long SS beta so...

But surely not going into any DoW game?![]()
Oh dear god, it's "that" thing. I'll never understand what possessed Games Workshop to create that abomination, well you know, besides money.
the reason is that it looks like a big grey knight + that Inqusitional mech unit - it all makes perfect sense and looks like a natural part of the WH40k universe
#2057
More GK TT players hate the Dreadknight more than like it. Personally, its kinda.. well.. weird-looking/odd-placed for a GK army verses an Inquisition one (which tends to possess really odd contraptions). Granted, GK do have some interesting units but the DreadKnight just seems like such a massive departure for them. Its basically a Penitent Engine for.. d00ds.![]()

I'd say the Codex hasn't been out long enough for statistics to be thrown around, but that's just me
Michael1980, I'd wait for the next public release before you ask for things to be implemented. Mod teams don't add new units for the heck of it as modelling and balancing a brand new unit takes considerable time. Wait for the modification and play it, before judging if it needs any new units to fulfill additional roles ingame.

And Compiler won't likely remotely sanction it anyway for use in DH_ID. You'll have to look elsewhere.
And you should be shot for that. It might fit in the 40k universe, but it definitively doesn't fit with the Imperium or even the Grey Knight aesthetics, of course you could come up with something like "The jokaero made them, they have jokaero factories in Titan that build dreadknights for the grey knights all day long" but i'm pretty sure "monkeys made them" is even more retarded.it all makes perfect sense and looks like a natural part of the WH40k universe

One problem Shuma.. GWS made the Dreadknight, not someone like say.. Forgeworld. Then you'd have a case. However, GWS *IS* for all purposes OUR master so what they do is it not, well, canon? I still maintain the Dreadknight looks un-GK-like but since its GWS and they RULE ALL then well, they most know the direction they are going in (aka appeasing more players to join who love tall exo-skeletons)Not that I approve.
I think the biggest problem with the Dreadknight is that it is this big lanky thing. If it were shorter, squatter, and bulkier like all the other Imperial tech, then it wouldn't be so bad.
the exoarmor concept in scifi hit the masses imaginary realm 30+ year ago (thanks to R.Scott), some innovation in the design would be more than welcome !! the Dreadknight is just surfing on the marketing tsunami triggered by Cameron's Avatar. The penitent engine for the SoB was enough.
an interesting thins would be to compare the sales record and statistic for this model in GW and try to compare it to the number of people who say they dont like it...looks like it is trendy to loath the dreadknight....ahhhh the community pressure on your mind ! can YOU feell it ?
you can model this dreadknight if it pleases you and if you love it, you can texture it GreyKnight and release it in a mod calling the Inquisition Daemonhunt Mod, in addition you can gave it ability and weapons only found in the IDH mod...just to be sure to bound it tothe IDH mod.
in any case : have fun, there's nothing more important. if you want to do it, do it ,do not let anybody but GW lawyers dictate if you should get this model in game or not.
if you are talking about adding the dreadkngiht to the IDHmod.....goodluck ...i won't see this happen unless people minds are changed by Tzeench ITself !!

I like the dreadknight. People say it doesn't fit the GK, but they've always been a lot more streamlined than other marine chapters. Back when every other terminator seemed to be screaming for a hug, GK terminators wore far more dynamic and a lot less bulky. In the last codex we had, what, roughly two distinct grey knight units? Who are we to say what their design philosophy is.
It does feel a little like "We heard you like powered armour, so we put powered armour on your powered armour so you can kill daemons while you kill daemons," but strangely I'm ok with this.
On another, completely different note, will there be a combiner mod for soul storm? Is there one already I don't know about?

Only way a DreadKnight is making it into DH_ID is a) Compiler is ok with it and b) its of the same quality as WH_AS models but methinks it will be out of place as it'll either look too good or nowhere as good as compared to Compiler's 3d team. Mind you, like the Penitent Engine, there is ALOT of animations and FX to do on it to make it look the part.
@Thud:
Canon or not it's still retarded, and even in GW's things are redesigned, let's not forget how Sicarius looked originally:
THE HORROR. Besides it is said in the new codex that a lot of the crap the GK use is ancient Xeno tech, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Dreadknight is too, i'm just glad they haven't said so openly, of course everyone is entitled to like it, i don't, and if i ever had to model it i would redesign it to fit my wishes, even making it bulkier and shorter makes it better, in fact there's artwork of the Dreadknight looking like that in the codex and:
It looks infinitely better in my opinion, still looks fucking stupid though.
Edit:
@Non:
Yeah, but those GK terminators still looked clunky, though and bulky like everything else in the imperium. The Dreadknight looks like an Eldar titan that fell on a volcano and only the skeleton came out and then salvaged by a Magos who went "we can use this, put bolters on it and manufacture it"
#2067
Agreed. Ah well.. DH_ID has enough for everyone for now.

Well then, if that was the joke, surely you've just come up with an ideal scenario by which the first Dreadknight was created? No?
I've heard that the new GK codex has come out. Indeed a friend of mine who collects GK is getting his tomorrow. You should model in Kandor Draigo or whatever his name is. Apparently from what I've been told his character background is abosolutly insane.
Glad to see that the Dreadknight is being worked on. Really hope you keep up the good work and all the best for the SS release.
All is dust...
Ivan Draigo is a pretty cool guy eh writes names on Mortarion's heart and doesn't afraid of nothing
>Ivan Draigo
I see what you did there.
Anyway, Draigo is to daemons what daemons are to the Imperium. The thing that goes bump in the night, then leaps out and cuts your fucking face off. His fluff is ridiculous, since he basically just floats through the warp saying "Haters gonna hate" and killing anything he finds.
Not quite as bad as Justicar Thawn, who just immortals his way through life.

I think it a Imperial Knight Titan class and that model look great for IDH.

... What?
I got a question for the SS IDH (Soulstorm Inquisition Daemonhunt) team. I have no idea where a SS IDH main thread or home page is, so I hope you guys don't mind if I post here.
Upon your next release of SS IDH, could you by any chance make your maps separate from the core mod? Separate download, and for a bit of a bonus, if people wants to use your maps, they can just download from there. Why I ask is because it really effects some modder's reputation with other map makers, regarding permissions and guidelines of used maps in other mods apparently that requires IDH. So I kindly ask to make maps separate.
It'll make download time of the core mod faster and it'll somewhat decrease its size by at least 10mb.
Sincerely,
Cylarne.
urhhg !could you by any chance make your maps separate from the core mod?
@Cylarne : given the fact that your mod is calling upon the idh mod it is up to you do make this and not to the idh mod team. you can't expect a mod to make separate download for some of its assests because your mod is using it....no kidding !?
there's an very easy way to make sure a map wont appear in the Apocalypse mod :

If anybody's interested, just released an alternate set of skins for your excellent inquisition mod: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...-Model-Post-24
if you're wondering, added specularity to GKs and GK hero plus reskinned the hero and a specular stormtrooper armor.
Actually, about the dreadknight, it would look better if it had a closed cocpit because now it looks retarded cause its basically looks like a termie on stilts! Also, some of the models have an unhelmed termie so its even more retarded. Headshots: *boomboom* *clunk* lulz![]()

@G3N3RAL_GR3IVUS:
The Dreadknight follow the same screwy logic as the old Eldar WarWalker, which also had an exposed pilot: Force Field! The GK codex specifically states that the Terminator-armoured pilot of the DK is protected by a powerful forcefield. Lame, no doubt, but there for the fluff-heads.
If you guys want an "improved" version of the Deathwatch skins (with specularity, etc.) I have the alternate version in my thread: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...-Veteran-Skins
Something related to the INQUISITION: an unofficial movie about the Inquisition. From the looks of it, they beat the Ultramarine movie by a long shot. still in development though
http://www.thelordinquisitor.com/
yep...The Lord Inquisitor movie is in need of community support (see here http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...munity-support)
how could you imagine such a project could escape our attention

thudo what do you mean not out yet? wasn't there a soulstorm version uploaded on filefront? o.o
#2090
Absolutely never! We got the official project direct from Compiler sanctioned by him so if there are any "rogue" DH_ID for SS its not official. Don't accept any cheap imitations.![]()
Where was somewhere in this forum the beta 2 for SS uploaded in 2008.
You can find second public beta for SS here http://dawnofwar.filefront.com/file/...hunt_Mod;92539 (this is ,,just a quick conversion of DC to SS" without balance changes, bug fixes etc.) It´s better then nothing but still it´s worse then Thuds´ current version of the mod. Hope it helps![]()
Yea its has no air units or balance changes. Not that I like the air units. Too Starcraft-y.

@SHD87 - Thud's current version of the mod? What are the noticable changes?
Getting a good capper unit at the start would be nice instead of having to build a squad of bodyguards and cap 1 at a time while u build an barracks thing and a few stormies which is longer than say, building a few scouts or imperial guardsmen to cap the early points. Seems unbalanced to me.( I hate how in the ai in my team always gets the relic b4 me)
How bout making the veteran guards ( those bodyguards) a squad and you could have deathwatch as the shooty guys ( Yes, I realise the sm also has deathwatch, but the inquisition is like the boss of all the impeial forces, they take stuff from other armys. That and the deathwatch is part of the inq:P.) in the henchmen squad and also stuff in some assassins in the squad ( the assassins, to balance, will obviously only be in late game) and maybe a few psykers and jokaro and other stuff. Check lexicanum, lots of ideas
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Inquisitorial_Henchmen
----------
It could be like this ( Units only, T1 only.)
T1
Inquisitor's tower:
Inquisitorial henchmen ( see above post)
Archivist
Lord Inquisitor
Veteran Guardsmen
Inquisition Watch:
Stormtroopers
Rhino
Librarium:
scholars
Servitors
Domus astra telepathica:
Exterminatus
Purification Decree*
Warp generator
* The purification decree is a bit too weak, and not good early in the game. In the latter part, is good vs horde but its a bit too much like a minefield in t1 since it hardly does anything. Atleast just put a guard standing there to shoot ppl who dare enter purified land.
The Currently implemented Build Order is a gameplay feature of "race". No need to make another IG race from them.
Whiteshield: Don´t take me wrong but I simply don´t want to answer on your question because mod isn´t out yet (it´s still private) + I´m not leader of Thuds IDH SS mod. Feel free to ask Thud if you have a question about mod but don´t expect that someone else besides Thud will answer to that.![]()
Is there a particular reason why there hasn't been a public release in a while? I can't wait to try an updated version!
