    no i havent but WA requires:
    Windows 98/2000/XP/ME, 1.8 GHz Pentium III or equivalent AMD Athlon XP processor, 256 MB RAM, 1.8 GB free hard drive space, 4x CD-ROM, 32 MB DirectX(R) 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, DirectX 9.0b compatible 16-bit sound card
    and dark crusade requires:
    Windows 98/2000/XP/ME, 2.0 GHz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon XP processor, 512 MB RAM, 3.5 GB free hard drive space, 4x DVD-ROM, 32 MB DirectX(R) 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, DirectX 9.0b compatible 16-bit sound card

    as you can see there is a rather large difference my system reqs are
    AMD Athlon processor1.41GHz, 256MB of RAM, Radeon 9550 256mb

    So you can see that WA is working just

    I have sthing similar at home, except RAM (my is 2x256mb dual and forgot bout graphic..radeon at 128mb??)... its 3years old PC w/out upgrades
    my advice is to install DC and try what will happen.. maybe it would be playable at low res..

    Pakman, you could try the the Dark Crusade Demo to see if your computer could handle Dark Crusade before you buy. This is what I did. My PC did run Winter Assualt ok, but I too had my doubts about Dark Crusade. I did have to turn most of the settings down a little, but it plays fine. It is a large download, 308MB, but might save you a trip.

    By the by, I love this Mod. Great work!

    what the hell? the odd thing about the dow series is that each patch and each addon has actually streamlined load times and -seemingly- made the game engine more efficient; i used to experience massive slowdowns and framerate breaks with dow 1.0 (until i lowered the graphics settings) and it used to take a tiresome length of time to load the game but with subsequent versions i could have all 7 ai on the screen at once with my units with fullresteamcolor and highrestextures (only for single player of course; i lower my graphics settings for multiplayer just to be safe ) and experience zero slowdown and loading the game has never been quicker than with dc (albeit only a tiny bit faster than wa).

    the system i play dow on (a very old system now but it works ) consists of a mildly oc'ed xpm2500 with 512mb ram, a 65mb radeon 9500 and xp pro. the game runs fairly smoothly most of the time and i can even have a browser open with over 100 tabs (no exaggeration) or multiple torrents going on and not experience too much slowdown. i experience some halting behavior during these occasions but if i jump back to desktop i usually find that my computer is also defragging in the background.

    what kind of system do you have pakman? with the appearance of the latest new technology (dual cores and such), pc component prices are dropping faster than ever and you can get a last gen 'top of the line' (equivalent with a bit of overclocking) computer for very cheap -even cheaper than when i created the overclocking system i play dow with. i bought my radeon 9500 for about 25 bucks many years ago including shipping and about a year later, i was kicking myself in the ass because the geforce 6600 was selling for exactly the same price. that card -which is also old as dirt now but still quite functional- is significantly more powerful than the 9550.

    i recommend going to ocforums.com to get some buying advice. i'm POSITIVE that with a bit of knowledge, you can build a fairly good last-gen system for cheap.


    certain mods like idh or dowxp will slow down even the best systems (actually, i've never experienced slowdown with idh but i definitely have for some other mods. personally, i think it has more to do with ai than graphics) but quite honestly, i don't think the dow game engine is that demanding if it can run like it does on my aged computer and if you can play wa fine then i'm sure your computer can handle dc as well.

    EDIT: dude, it just sounds like you need more ram. 1 gig of the basic stuff shouldn't cost more than 30 bucks, 40 shipped. i recommend kingston value ram for their lifetime warranty and low prices. check your bios (there should be a y/n confirmation message at the end) to see what speed you need or if you could oc your system any.

    ps: make sure you have 3.1 gigs of free space on your main hdd, regardless of where the game is installed and do get the patches.

    if you are using systemrequirements.com thing, it is sometimes not true, because my old computer was horrible, the systemrequiremtns said a lot of games wont work, but they did on mine.

    My Dark Crusade box claimed to require a 64MB video card at a minimum, but I managed to get the game running on a laptop with a 32MB FX5200.

    At least give the demo a shot...if that works I'd say go for it.

    pakman i can play dc on a laptop 1.8ghz celeron 256 ram and 32mb onboard videocard. my idh slows down a bit, and most of the loading times take about a minute or so, but its completely playable, no effect on the gameplay whatsoever

    Ok i downloaded the dark crusade demo and it WORKS!!!!!!!! YAY im so happy now i must buy the actual game thanks everyone

    P.S there is a little lag but i can deal with that

    Im going to get some extra ram some time in the future and then i can break free from the LAG

    That is good news Compiler! Does this mean your retirement may not be permanent, or that you may be called in to crack 'one last case', with grumbles of 'I'm too old for this sh*t'?

    The air units in the demo were a little odd, but they're basically just like regular units, except they can ignore terrain, which is not that different to vehicles in TT. Only question is: do the DH have an air unit?

    I think the Dark Eldar do not deserve to escape the wrath of the Inquisition.

    Adapting IDH to SS is one thing. Duplicating the silly way flyers are implemented in SS is another.
    Honestly, do you want to see a Thunderhawk behaving like a landspeeder ?

    As for the music, it was composed by Shrp, who retains all the rights on it. Any unauthorised use is forbiden.
    You can PM him on this forum to see if he would allow you to use his work.

    Most modders will likely implement flyers as called-in "off screen" approach attackers like the way artillery attacks is done currently except this time it likely can be shot down. Should be interesting was the coders come up with.

    No no.. I meant the way DH_ID could implement fliers in SS would NOT to use em like "hovering things" but the only way the DoW can and properly: as off-screen bombing/attacking fly-ins.

    You must use Dark Crusade, patched correctly from 1.0 to 1.1 then to 1.2
    You must activate the mod through the mod manager.

    That's probably because you didn't update Dark Crusade correctly from 1.0 to 1.2, or because you didn't install the mod in the right folder.

    The daemonhunters mod was made for DoW and never adapted for WA nor DC.

    Ive just downloaded this mod, and have been playing for about the last hour. This has got to be the best mod i have played for DoW so far. If i didnt know that a mod team had put this together, id label it as relic's own work because it is of that high a quality. Awesome job @ Compiler and his team

    Hi ive tried to download this mod a few times, well sorry install. I download it fine and install it fine but when i go into the game and click game manager, nothing shows up please help I really want to play this mod it sounds AWESOME!!!

    Are you trying to play this on any game but DC.

    Have you got the 1.2 patch for dark crusade.

    If you've installed the patches make sure you install the balance patch before you install the speech patch as otherwise you will have problems playing the mod.

    The license is very clear : you don't have the right to extract anything from the mod.
    Of course, what stays on your computer won't ever be known to anyone, so there isn't anything we can do about it, but we cannot give you a formal authorisation anyway.

    the Crusader dosent have autocannons, it has assualt cannons, which are better, but short ranged(Relci did a bad job on describing them)

    The Land Raider Crusader is a bad mofo. IMO, seeing its cannons spin and spit fire is one of the best scenes in all of DoW

    wierd thing is, is that this is the only mod that i have , that has it, the crusader, it should be also for marines. why it wasent in the ttru mod i dont know
    Relic dident mimic the Force Organization chart a bit
    still only Forge World had rules for a thunderhawk that allowed deepstrick for a land raider

    It does not, not exactly at least. Well, the only thing it changes is replacing SM Grey Knights with Deathwatch Veterans as GKs are covered with the Inquisition itself. They have all their GK counterpart values remaining, though. Nothing else has been replaced, changed or enhanced.

    As mentioned, nothing is changed other than the addition of the new race, so Daemonhunters is balanced to play against the other races in their DC1.2 incarnation.

    Some people have complained about Daemonhunters being too powerful in the late game, but this is balanced by having a relatively light early game, in particular a lack of turrets and defence. You have to play relatively agressively to win, as is the Daemonhunter character.

    I've play tested it a lot and its my favorite mod thus far. I have 2 real gripes about it tho. 1) What's with the smaller then normal dreads? It may be just my eyes but the grey knights look a lot taller then the dreads. 2) Can the Grey Knights not use a rhino transport? they are space marines and dont take up much more room then normal cept their halberds but again that doesnt seem to be an issue.

    Other then that, its an amazing mod, the Hero is a little lacking and has to depend on a bodyguard unit much like the IG which works out well late game but early game he's weak. The ranges on the meltabombs and arial bombardments are rather lacking but again they make for a good defensive type doomsday weapon which In my opinion fits with the true theme of the grey knights... they are the last line of defense against the demonic incursion and if all else has failed, blow the planet up!

    Great work with everything guys! Im really loving this mod!
