Big Co-ordinated multiplayer battles
The problem: Currently 4v4 or larger battles are just an unplayable mess, the code needs to be improved to stop people lagging out, syncing out, and NAT failuring. But looking forward to COH2, the current game play in a 4v4 is also messy, there is little co-ordination and it often degenerates a long continuous fight, where the outcome is very random.
The Solution: So, I propose the (not actually) "radical" solution of 3+1 VS 3+1 instead of 4v4; so you have 3 players and 1 commander on each team. This idea of an Order of Battle made "Battle Field 2" the best online FPS game ever made; and it is very popular in MMOs and free online games. So, since seeing order in the chaos is at the heart of a deep skill based rather than chance based RTS, so it is time RTS embraced OOBs as well.
To implement this, the game should offer 2 different types of player roles:
Company COs: This player controls the units on the map, and does all the micro of the units, like rotating a tank to face the right way, ordering a squad to take cover, flanking MGs, etc... He can not build units, nor research techs, nor buy upgrades. Instead he has to make a request to his Regimental CO for these things.
Regimental COs: This player does not control any combat units on the map. He does all of the macro, including all of the resource management. He sets objectives for Company COs on the team, watches their actions, and co-ordinates assaults and defences. Preferably with VoIP communications available. He:
chooses what units to give to which Company CO at what time;
researches global techs which benefits the entire company;
chooses whether to approve or disapprove of Company COs requesting for upgrades like MG43s and shreks;
chooses whether to approve or disapprove of Company COs requesting any type of off map support, like artillery and "field repairs", etc.....
The best thing about this is there is no need to have a concrete OOB, so players should be able to set their own command structures however they like, as long as there are the same number of company COs on the ground for each side. So for example you could have an 9 VS 10 match, where the team OOBs are like this:
Team A [9 players; 7 CCO]:
1st Regiment: [3 CCO + 1 RCO]
--> 101st Company
--> 102nd Company
--> 103rd Company
2nd Regiment: [4 CCO + 1 RCO]
--> 201st Company
--> 202nd Company
--> 203rd Company
--> 204th Company
Team B [10 players; 7 CCO]:
1st Regiment: [3 CCO + 1 RCO]
--> 101st Company
--> 102nd Company
--> 103rd Company
2nd Regiment: [2 CCO + 1 RCO]
--> 201st Company
--> 202nd Company
3rd Regiment: [2 CCO + 1 RCO]
--> 301st Company
--> 302nd Company
I think this would revolutionise the world of RTS, and introduce for the very first time the idea of competitive team matches with possibly 10+ people on each team. With this implemented the game would be more balanced, because every player is playing better and not wasting away units. This idea already works in BF2 and MMOs. As for team work from complete strangers, if games like DOTA mod for Warcraft 3 can work, then what I'm proposing is just the logical next step forward. COH 2 should consider this...
1. One more vote for Soviet faction/eastern front, then Japanese faction, in that order.
2. Let's have ToV be the first and last in the new 1st-person-POV theme. ugh.
3. As much as I've loved these years of fun with CoH and its WWII theme, enough with the game industry's WWII obsession already. I'd love a 'modern warfare' themed CoH. Having played about 30+ hours of DoW II now, I realize I don't care about abstract space guys and themes because you can't really 'bond' with the characters like you can with factions and weapons grounded in reality. So rather than go pre-WWII, and rather than go futuristic, a CoH 2 set in present-day tech using the current engine and everything we like about CoH would be awesome.
It would be intresting to have the Estern Front in an expansion!
I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but I think it would be helpful if when you press spacebar to cycle to an event in the queue, you get a little bit of directional camera movement before your screen focuses on the target. I believe that's how it works when when you double-press F1 to go to your headquarters, for example. Not only is this is a nice aesthetic improvement, but it would actually help understand what area of the map you've just moved to.
Suggestion (that may have been posted before, don't know):
Turn off statistics in anything but ranked games. Or at least make it optional to turn it off. Especially including the ranks as it is very frustrating to get kicked because one is level 10 or higher - which can be achieved with as little as 30 games played with a faction.
Reason: I believe stats are the main reason for people to kick other people out of games or try to a so called drop-hack (afraid of losing).
Without stats there would certainly be less reasons to do so.
Recommendation: Patch the game more often. Even though the person once responsible for that quit (seems like there's no other in the whole world who could do so)...
It's a shame to have an online game like CoH with its obvious flaws not being patched since last April. Name any other game with the same popularity that hasn't.![]()
A few things.
1. Put the main gun back on the Sherman Calliope and have the Sherman upgun and smoke apply to it also (I think the smoke already applies actually). This would make the armor company better since you would get a regular Sherman with the rocket launcher. The Calliope would not have the option for a MG or a mine flail.
2. The Pershing needs to be buffed.
3. Currently when you upgrade the MG on the Sherman a rifleman pops out of the tank to man the gun. How about making the gunner look more like a tanker instead of a rifleman? Same goes for the M8.
Give the Pershing an MG, make it already have one when you call it in.
Give Airborne squads a choice of EITHER, NOT BOTH, Thompsons, or recoilless rifles.
Make them cost 125 mun.
1.have every squad a upgrade
EG tommie infnatry section can be upgraded with a Sten, a bren, a PIAT Etc
2.more Infantry for the Panzer elite
3.More infantry types for British or more Tanks
4.Werhmact get Pz III and/or Pz II and use them as Light Tanks
5.Americans get more reallistic Tanks EG Pershing wernt in Normandy in 1944
and finally 6. Historical Doctrines EG V1s wernt fired at troops in Normandy they were used to bomb London
Definetly more options for AI, ability to change their resource bonuses, being able to pick what doctrine they use... is handy, like another said its annoying when you're playing 3 US AI and they all go Armour and calliope you to hell.
Sticky AT-Nades for PE. As long as the Allied tanks are not made from antimagnetic alloys, the magnetic mindes should stick to them... Far better than some oil-drenched socks. I allways wondered, where the yanks have that super-glue that allows them to make the stickies sticky.
It really sucks that PE AT nades require a tank to stand still to work and still have a chance for a bad hit. With the insane cooldown preventing a squad to use an ability twice in a single fight but pretty much the same costs for research, the AT grenades need a serious buff. Making them Sticky would help.
First I have to say, that I really like the way the Nebelwerfers behave and sound ingame now. Give the rockets some additional "incoming"-sound and it is perfect.
But:
With the patch the Walking Stuka and the Nebelwerfer not only have the same explosions and DOT-fx, but also the same launching sound.
I don´t like that, personally.
Why?
1. Walking Stuka does no real DOT ingame, so it should not leave a burning fire like the nebel.
2. Walking Stuka warhead is much bigger than nebel ones, damages tanks and the sound it has feels just too "tiny". If something kills my tanks it should sound like it has some explosives in the shell.
3. You just cannot tell them apart from anything ingame on the receiving end before u either see DOT on your infantry or damage on your tanks.
Solution:
I. Get rid of DOT-flame-fx on Walking Stuka rockets and
II. replace the current Stuka explosion-FX with the explosion-FX of the Churchill AVRE, which fits much better to the weight of the warhead.
III. Give the Stuka rocket explosion sound more BOOOM!!!
So, thats my wishlist for the Walking STuka for the next patch

Also the 280mm barrage from defensive doctrine should be renamed in "280mm Railway Gun barrage" or some other form of artillery because it has the howitzer shell explosion-fx.
Give Rangers access to the 30.cal air-cooled MG.
Include British paras.
Allow the option (in skirmish & basic matches only) to block advancement to tech levels. so we can just use certain vehicles. Id enjoy a game where both sides only have access to infantry & light vehicles.
Also allow units to be blocked/capped in game set up, so only 1 panther allowed etc.
1) Fourth command tree to each army
2) More complex command trees (perhaps add a fourth tier).
3) Move Tiger to defensive. Add Tiger Ace to blitzkrieg OR have Tiger Ace as an alternate unit to the KT iwth a 1000mp cost and ability to recall.
Bring on the Russians! I'm amazed Relic haven't had the sense to do this yet!?
LAMH DERG ABU
THE RED HAND TO VICTORY
What about.....
Jagdtiger (1 shot takes half a sherman's health) BUT it costs 1200mp and 175fuel to build from Panzer Command
OR
Sturmtiger, which costs 800mp and 115fuel from sturm armoury, and has a mortar ability which is 90 second cooldown, and costs 150 munitions to shoot. The thing will have the power of a V1, but a distinctive sound will allow enemies to know its coming (like the V1)
Here's an idea no one has probably hit on (hopefully, haven't read all the suggestions). But I was watching shoutcasts and hit upon these 2 ideas few idea to improve replays.
First, and most importantly for shoutcasters, being able to host replays. Necessitating that hosting a replay be private, wouldn't be a terrible idea either. But, basically, you put up a "game" for a replay that your friend who's shoutcasting with you joins and then you start the replay together. This would ensure that both casters have their time synced up, so you (the audience) don't have to hear, "I'm at 5:42, what are you at?" during shoutcasts any longer. This is also useful for the player base who downloads replays off of GameReplays, so your friend can be like, "Hey, I downloaded this replay, wanna watch it with me?" Which you can still do now, but with time sync problems.
EDIT: Note: when one person changes the speed it changes for everyone (should be obvious, but just thought of it).
Secondly, if you make replays hostable, being able to follow someone's vision who's watching the replay with you would be useful. So, you're not like, "Wait, where is this mine you're talking about?" when watching replays with others.

It would be nice to have the ability to set a random country to play as. (Instead of specifically playing as America/Brittan or Wehr/PE) Just have the flag be a question mark or something.
Have that set as the default (at least for AI players). When playing against the AI usually I don't care as much which side I play against so I leave it as the default which often has me playing the same computer.
Sure I know I could just switch it up manually, but I would think there wouldn't be that much involved in implementing it. It would also add the requirement of you to figure out who you are playing against exactly instead of knowing right off the bat.
I think Relic should allow you to unistall the previous patch. I have spent several hours having to redo a reinstall because the patch did not install.
The only way for me to reinstall COH properly is to uninstall, restart, patch 1, restart, patch 2, restart, . . . so on.
Currently I have 2.4 and I would like to uninstall it so I can install or at least "REPAIR" the previous patch.
please consider this!
civilians running around the bullets and bombings killed (more real), (drivers and guners, get in tanks, in jeeps, and all vehicles can be used for and escape before being destroyed), (take prisoners, you have extra MP), capture enemy vehicles, you can use civilian vehicles, build your trenches, vehicle repair, school of pilots to use combat aircraft and bombers, medical vehicles to pick wounded in combat.
The team colors I would like to see changed. Instead of baby blue for the default. Make it Army green. PLEASE
Check out the change I did. Please consider this.

1. By 1944 the Germans had lost air superiority over france and germany. Naturally, they became excellent at camouflage. Give the Wehrmacht and the PE the ability to camouflage certain structures like bunkers and perhaps prepare camouflaged positions for infantry to occupy, or maybe enable the PE to camouflage the Marder and P IV IST when they are locked down.
2. Allow the Wehrmacht and panzer elite to upgrade their tanks with zimmerit. Which was anti-mine coating. Use this as a buff to give sticky bombs a higher probability of not attaching. (To the flamers, i know this isnt historically accurate because zimmerit was made to prevent magnetic mines, but its much more plausible than anything else.)
3. Make all turret gunners in all vehicles such as the .50 cal gunners on M8s and Shermans, MG42 gunners in German Tanks, Halftrack gunners on Quad .50s able to be sniped out by US and Wehrmacht snipers and the British Marksman ability. Also apply this to the drivers and gunners of the US jeep and the wehrmach motorcycle. If you can shoot men out of the back of a half-track or bren carrier, i think this is along those lines. Also, make all turret gunners able to be replaced via any normal reinforcement point.
4. Upgrade the vehicle AI so that they go around your own sandbags, barbed wire, tank traps, etc.
5. Make the range and field of fire for the Wehrmacht MG bunker the same as the Americans and British. Its completely asinine that its so short and so narrow.
Future Expansions:
-Add Russian and German army campaigns on the Eastern front. I'd recommend the German campaign being the drive to assault on Stalingrad. And the Russians being the counter-offensive to push the German army out of Russia, culminating in the assault on Berlin.
In order to keep COH in a "historical" way without influencing the actual game play mechanics I think the developers should consider the following changes (graphics and names only):
The new powerful Marder AT from (ToV) should be a Nashorn
The new M18 Hellcat should be an M36 Jackson (this was armed with the powerful 90mmL50 gun which could do the ambushed damage that M18 actual make ...)
After the buff on sherman health better is that only after the upgrad the sherman to take the health buff and to become a Sherman Jumbo (which was a Sherman with a lot of armour in surplus)
And.. like this without mess with the gamplay mechanics the game will feel much much "real"
-<snip - GeoffS>-
Put the KT in the defensive doctrine and allow it to "Hull Down" as it was used in real for mainly defense.

Revert hotkeys, revert veterancy display, revert unit weapon upgrade display.
Could/Should/Would HAVE. A verb. Not an adposition.
who's genius idea was it to change the veterancy display and upgrade weapon display? Change it back!
Also, de-nerf the Marder.
When red smoke drops, infantry should say something..
"That doesn't look good"
"Hit the deck"
"Do you guys here thunder?"
"OH SH##!!"
I thought I start this for fun sake and maybe they would take note...
I like them to go back to mot just 1 tiger Ace or king tiger in 1 game.. maybe 2 of each or 3 tigers and 2 king tigers
Bring back the option to have 2 or 3 tigers ...
Like how it use to be...
Add 3 calliope not just 2 make them stronger to...
Make sharmens abit stronger they so easy to kill and pathers are a waste of time... You snezze they dead..
In game map downloader for custom maps..
Make relic downloader faster or bring back the odd way
For those who dont have TOV
put the patches on magazine disks like PC GAMER...
break up that 1.7 gig download into 3 parts ... or make it 4 with that new 5.01 patch 1 big download blows up routers.... and sends you to sleep with that relic downloader I had to laugh make patching easier and faster well I had to lol.
tommy1975 is online now
The Tiger mini-campaign was the most kickass thing I've played in a long time, I got that feeling of 'hooo WOW!' that I haven't since I was a young lad. More like that, please! A full campaign in that style would be worth the price of ToV just on its own. The idea of having one squad that you get familiar with, and the idea of upgrading each individual squad members was fantastic; that could translate to multiplayer in the form of persistent units -- i.e. they rank up as you do, whether you choose a tank or foot units, or whatever as your special 'ranked' unit. These would then come with you to the next fight at the same rank, sort of like how the assault game is now, but they don't reset.
I know the Tiger campaign was based on real life, but a fictional campaign similar to it -- starting off with one powerful tank and losing it, finding/stealing a much lesser one and fighting your way out, and struggling back to the top -- would be a fast favourite, I think.
Oh, and some kind of login screen similar to WoW's would be nice: even if it was only a little text box saying 'our servers are currently down for servicing, we expect to be back at blahblah'.
Please remove the stats recording for skirmishes & multiplayer matches vs ai. Otherwise the amount of losses i get for quiting coz of life or noob team mates are going to get me kicked from everygame i join. Then I might actually consider installing the game.
First, I want to thank the entire Relic Development Team for a computer game that has entertained me constantly since I bought the game in the fall of 2006. You have produced patch after patch to continually upgrade, tweak and otherwise improve the game in all of its aspects. The present 2,501 isn’t perfect, but then again, nothing is ever perfect. But it’s damn close. Almost three years later, this game is still “my favourite spare-time waster.”
Obviously, aside from being an occupation for you folks, it’s also a labour of love!
I have waited eagerly for Tales of Valor to come out. However, my experience after immediately purchasing a competitors game, Empire: Total War recently, has taught me a much needed lesson in “game buying protocol”. First, read the previews. Then read the reviews after release. Next, play the demo. Finally, wait a month and read the forums to see what the gamers’ reality is. THEN, decide to buy or not to buy?
Well, a month hasn’t passed yet but already I know that I won’t be buying Tales of Valor.
I think that as one of the “over twenty-five” gamers who make up a huge fan-base and target market, I’d like to tell you what turns my crank. (Just look at the membership of the Stomach Battalion Clan on gamereplays.org. It’s by far, the largest clan.) From a marketing view, I also think that you want to know.
Many previous posts have told you over and over again what will sell, if you stick to the levels of quality that have been shown so far.
(1) The Russian Front. A “no brainer”.
(2) The Africa Campaign.
(3) Introduce the Italians. Perhaps DLC?
(4) And last but not least, a MMO that combines Cooperative Multiplayer into a “Front Based” battle with each pair of Axis-Allies protagonists in a stitched together action encompassing many maps and a combination of factions.
Now, I’d buy that.
That’s just my two cents worth.
JohnHardtack
PLEASE BRING BACK OLD VETERANCY BARS!!!!!
Russia and France to Allies
Austria and Japan to Axis
Perhaps maps based around: Leningrad, Stalingrad, Moscow, El Alamein
First: North Africa/Italy campaign.
Second: Eastern Front
Third: Pacific- Japanese and U.S Marines
I'll update this post when I get some information to update this post with.
New veterancy icons suck, they are too small and it was much better before they should be changed back.
Please, return old veteran icons.
And it will be good to have optional German voices for Axis and English for Allies for any localization of the game.
I would say that the Old Veterancy icons would be nice, or a revamped version of them.
Next expansions/updates: Eastern theatre of operations (i.e Soviet faction vs Rumanian/Hungarian factions of 3rd Reich) and then i think that the Pacifc would be good (Us Marines and Japanese)
M1 Garand and Carbine Buff... as in as game the garand acts just like another k98.. when in realty they were game changers... yes i know this is a game, and it needs balance, but when it comes to such a iconic weapon i think nerfyin so bad is just not right...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLY3T1zGO9o
A replacement of the Western Allies side to the Soviet Allies on a next addon.
For example, a player creates a skirmish game and can choose who will be fight against the Axis: the Western or the Eastern Allies. The Eastern Allies can be the Red Army and a Polish Army on the East of 1944. So, we keep 2vs2 races and a "realistic" alliances on maps.
The garand shoud be comparable to the G43. At long range the garand should be comparable to a bolt action rifle. At short range the damage should be comparable to assault weapons (Thompsons, MP44s, stens)
Please bring back the new sounds introduced with the 2.400 patch yet removed with the 2.500 patch. Those rocked, especially the sound the M1919A4 .30 caliber MGs made.
I want to see a continuation of the "Causeway" campaign that focuses on Sgt. Craft, from Causeway up until his death.
M4A3 Upgun is underperforming... currently the 75mm M3 on Sherman has a base 87.5 Penetration and Damage.
When you upgun your Sherman to the 76mm It gives you better penetration number, but the base damage is the same, which i feel is wrong. I feel it should perform allong the lines of the M3 gun on the M10 as in reality they had the same performance.
thanks.
Dunno if this is the best thread to suggest this, but I sure wish Relic gave the Brit 25-pounder's speech british accent, cause they sound pretty damn Yank to me and it's weird they haven't fixed that yet but bothered to tune many other units' sound files...
If you are like me, I love the game! Its just what I love about RTS. The campaigns are engaging, AI is a challenge, and its WWII, what I grew up playing so many years ago! I've bought all the add-ons, latest being Tales of Valor. Now I'm not much into the multiplayer side of the game at all, only played one game and my friendly bolted on me in Stonewall. So I played the single player which is what I love to play. I'm a big fan of the campaigns over multiplayer ANY DAY. I'm always looking for campaigns instead of maps but sadly there are not many to play. And Tales of Valor was like icing with no cake. Three campaigns I thought, great! Yes! Then I found out only 3 levels each?? That was not enough to quell my appetite at all! Left me disappointed because the new modes are awsome! And then to find out I can't play BlitzKrieg or Assault in skirmish? Hence why I say sweet icing no cake!
So that lead me to an idea for the next add-on and I for one would buy it in a heartbeat! How about an add-on of campaigns? Just new campaigns using all modes! I mean this game is such a great RTS game and its sad to see it go to waste as a single player after your done. Maps are great but a campaign tells a story and there are MANY stores to be told about WWII warfare! Non need to introduce new units. Just campaigns! What do you say Relic? All the work you put in for this game and its basically dead for a single player when you re-play the over in the different difficulty levels. So please, please add new campaigns? For all modes would be fantastic! Who agrees?!?
Let me know if I've crossed forum rules ok
Instead of making the Tiger 205 simply a skin of the Blitz Tiger, how about we make the Tiger 205 the Tiger Ace from the Terror doctrine pre-OF. It'll provide for an interesting trade off. Standard Tiger survivability for improved offensive power, and loss of ability to gain vet.
