    As long as you're working on the Battleship dock paths and such, could you give a look at the front antenna area? The texture there, as I think I've mentioned before, doesn't quite fit. Here's a link. Look right under the lower left bomber.

    Now that I come to think of it, I think that it might be interesting to consider using one of Olmys' gametype mods. Especially the Dynamic Deathmatch. With permission of course

    In my personal opinion, the Hiigarans are capital ship guys, the Vaygr are for strikecraft. In response to your discussion on the power of the Pirate Battleship, note two things. First: It is only super powerful if it has built ion and flack cannons. Second: The AI I have rarely uses those. My 2ยข is to have the Hiigarans have superfast, agile Frigates, while the Vaygr have a 'superfighter', a heavy bomber (NOT the PDS one for heaven's sake, I can't stand fighters firing Ion beams) that can silence the flack batteries while the rest of the Vaygr fleet moves in to overwhelm it. I liked the suggestion to lower the power of the battleship, but howabout low firepower but incredible hps? You know, a ship that would absorb enemy fire by the bucket load while the destroyers/ fighters finished the enemy off. Seems more like the pirates' style, don't you think? By the way, has anyone had the game crash while playing Pirate-on-pirate? Keep up the good work!

    Hi everyone i know its been about 2 months since i last posted.

    but i have a good reason

    for those of you who didn't know Nov 3rd i got married *yep i got hitched, crazy huh *

    and i am still settling into my new apt with my new wife *wow i am still getting used to that*

    i will be contacting team members over the coming weeks and i am going to push for a bugfix and what i currently have on the burner release.

    will update everyone as i get backup to speed.

    (When they went to the newer look the control got reset to homer )

    i quickly through together some media and will be trying to get some of the screenshots i showed here uploaded.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! glad to be back people and not on my crashed comp im back with a fury!!! anyway im glad to see this is still going on i enjoyed the pirates 0.3 release and i cant wait for 0.4! im also letting you relic guys know that i have equipment to record voices, mod them add reverb and such cost me a penny or 2 but iv finaly got it working. if you need any help with audio im here to help. if not then ill just sit back with the rest of these fine folks with my jaw dropped till 0.4 is finaly released!

    sorry for a lack of updates but i have some personal news what will explain my absence.

    My wife gave birth to my first child (a boy) this past Tuesday the 19th of February.

    "Thunderbolt Jr." was born 7 lbs 10 oz and all tests show he is in perfect health.

    i have been spending the last week and a half with my parents who are enjoying their new grandparent status. so i have not had access to the modding computer.

    shortly after typing this message i will be taking it back home and will be updating the Moddb page with new and old screens.

    feel free to spam me with pm's of congrats or hurry up and release the mod messages

    Thunderbolt, Word of the wise: Do all possible tests to Thunder Jr., make sure he's 100% healthy all around cause... well back when I was born they didn't test for more rare diseases and well I had one they didn't think all that common(and was only one bloody X-Ray to check) and well the end result isn't as good as it might have been if they picked it up earlier. Congrats and hope your family gets bigger and happier as the years go by.

    Mod update.

    The harpoon and strike frigate are now 100% operational (they both still need textures) had some aiming problems with the harpoon beam and the strike frig anti fighter turrets.

    the battleship hanger bug is patched for the moment
    (Did a quick fix with CF hod ed since i don't have the original battleship file) it does not look right but ships dock and launch now.

    EDIT: During father son bonding time i was able to ko all reported bugs except the AI related one. see To Do List

    Also i went thru the to do list and thinned out the to do list a tad so you guys get a newer version sooner.

    but now its time for some father son bonding

    I've enjoyed this mod for a very long time. I really like the battleship.
    However, the only thing about this mod (and every mod and even HW2 in general) that I can't stand is the unit cap.
    I just launched an incredibly wonderful operation to capture my enemy's shipyard.
    I defend the capture frigates for the few minutes it took, and when the blue bar finishes, "Our fleet is strong, leave it for salvage."

    Any plans in the future to add the option to disable unit cap like other mods and original HW?

    well i am currently working on putting in new build scripts that Couger8116 sent me so you can build from captured ships.

    once i have had some time to experiment and tweak i think caps in general are going to be changed.

    Being able to steal technology would be great, and seems to be the basis of pirating.
    Would also be nice if there were some other NPC races floating about to steal tech from.

    i had a stroke of genius the other day and will be posting a new pirates challenge hopefully it will be more successful than the last one.

    but as a small hint start thinking about non pirate ship designs
    (no posts yet though )

    Myabe you could trade Barataria's Hammer with the FXMod team and get their Hiigaran Lightcruiser in return.

    The Complex Scaver, Command Fortress, Research Station and Crew Station are good candidates for civillian ships.

    Instead of weapons, make the Command Fortress an immobile strategic point that has to be protected. There was a minimod where you had to capture incoming carriers for RUs. Maybe work something like that in. Make it so this is part of a commercial trade route and un-armed ships are coming through all of the time.

    OR make that apart of the contest first to come up with a new design. hell iv got some concepts on my backup harddrive from way back when before my first comp crashed. and i bet im not the only one holding back some unknown designs...

    PS they incorporated the Mini mod allready but it does not entierly work proporly. atleast not for me. it wont let me capture the ships when they are flying though

    @ gthompsn i would prefer not two use the same ships that are practically used by every HW2 mod out there. but if anyone from other mods submits a ship i will gladly judge it as if it where new.

    also i am currently tweaking the ships in the TH gametype so that when they blow up there is a nice amount of salvageable containers left behind. as a learn more about scripting i think i might tweak some things.

    @ Couger8116The Non Pirate Ships i am looking for are mostly are freighters and transports. (at some point i want to model the freighters featured in the garden cinimatics of hw1 but i will examine anything

    This second pirates Challange focuses on the Hiigarans and the Vagyr to help the mod stand apart from the many other ones out there. i am looking mainly for Designs for Fleet Command Ships for both races (small motherships) but will look at anything that fits in with the factions well.

    Also i will be accepting concepts for non Pirate ships, i am looking for are mostly are freighters and transports. (at some point i want to model the freighters featured in the garden cinimatics of hw1 but i will examine anything )

    i am looking for unique designs so unless you work for another HW2 mod and would like to submit your ship i will gladly consider it.

    modeling experience is not needed as the winning concepts will be put in-game by me.

    @Thunderbolt : completely understood. Just talking possibilities. What about some of the Kushan ships from HW1? I don't know of anyone working on them, but I'd imagine that a number of those ships could still be around, especially by groups like the pirates who would try to get as much use out of things that they could (they're pirates after all, so they probably don't have much in the way of an industrial base).

    I always liked the Drone Frigate even though, in game, it was not all that useful ( remake with 20 drones using the hgn_probe hod could be set up to be in docking formation around it in a d20-type placement).

    I think a modified version of the Kushan AssaultFrigate (stripped of most weapons), could provide a transport.

    sweet thanks for answering that i did not know you had to blast them to pieces. oh and should they be ships that have allready been scripted, and textured or can they be concept designs with enough detail to show what goes where whats the nose and where the guns and engines go etc.

    just concept art will work. worse case if something that is needed is not included i will contact and work with the designer.

    i have no problem modeling stuff for ppl that dont have the ability to do so. (at somepoint i will do texturing unless someone wants to do it for me... er the mod )

    @ gthompsn
    i would love to include some kushan and taiidan designs for both the hiig and vaygr but iam affraid of adding too many ships. i will probably add some for the pirates at a later date or have them as captureable map objects.

    @thunderbolt : how about a trade. I will D/L GIMP and do texturing for models you make. If GIMP can put those textures into a format CFHodEdit can use, I'll also import them. If not, I'll need you to get the textures in place. I can also do dockpaths, hardpoints, etc.

    those subsystem textures where done last December when i went on vacation. i am glad that ppl like them, those who do not watch the moddb page can take a look.

    Sporting: upgraded engines, a Build speed module, and fresh paint the Bataraia's Hammer is ready to take to the trade lanes and support the pirate fleet.

    sweet. im still trying to get a digital copy of the ship i have but so far its scanned really badly. if i can ill have one of my tech buddies scan it and re-draw it in photoshop.

    ps im moving stateside to go to filmschool in a few weeks so i may be gone for a WHILE but ill try and had over what i have for ship designs.

    I just got back from the trip up to the relic open House.
    Both me and my wife had a blast we also got word that a house we have been waiting to become available has opened up so don't be surprised if i disappear off the radar for a bit.

    during the Open House i ran thoughts by several HW2 and HW players and I have a general direction which i plan on going.

    The coming release is going to be just bug squashing and the new subsystem textures you all saw, after that the face of the mod is going to change.

    i will cover the details over the next few days while i get organized and unpacked.

    Great news everyone i am 90% done the new bug fix version i started working on after the open house.

    after i tackle the research tree and hopefully no new bugs pop up we will have the new version of the mod !!!!!!!!!!



    you guys will get the new Hammer, new subsystem textures and greatly accelerated salvaging operations. also a working battleship hanger

    i am planning on releasing the version mid July or sooner if their are no new bugs. if there are any that are not on the to do list Here send them to me at HW2PiratesMod@gmail.com

    i am waiting for my news post to get put on the moddb frontpage as i type now time to get some sleep
