WW1: Great War 1918 Mod *RELEASE*

  1. #1

WW1: Great War 1918 Mod *RELEASE*

The Great War is a modification for Company of Heroes meant to bring the war a decade or so earlier. This mod focuses on the later years of the First World War. Currently the two teams will be the British Empire against the German Empire, however with the time the team will bring some more nations in, such as France and Austria-Hungary.
This mod will focus on realism but keeping the game balanced enough to make it enjoyable.
Things to look for in the mod are the famous artillery strikes and the infamous gas attacks. Trenches will provide vital cover for infantry while tanks will roll over the battlefield and instill fear into the enemy troops.

    Visit us at:
    The Great War Mod Forums

This file contains the full version of The Great War 1918 v1.0 in a self-extracting archive.
It will extract all the files needed to play the modification on your computer.

This modification requires any version of Company of Heroes (including Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor) to be installed on your computer. You will also have to patch it to the latest online version (done automatically when starting Company of Heroes).

have you got the gas mask functionality working so that men equipped with them are immune to chemical attack?

I was looking to mod a gas mask ability for my mod, but I'm not at all sure where to begin.

  9. #9
I suggest you start by action/upgrade/critical_actions.

is your chemical mortar/artillery based around djukels version or your own, cos my gas masks will obviously have to neutralise his weapon.

  11. #11
It is based on my own,but I don´t know if Djukel one is similar...

nice! i always try to make weapons more realistic. usually if you change critical and add an extra 10 damage it works well.

Looks good, but Fahrpanzer would be the wrong name. "Fahr" means "drive" but this doesnt look like that it can drive.

The name is correct, it is after all the official name of the device (Gruson 5.3cm L/24 Fahrpanzer) which is a shortening of "fahrbare Panzerlafette". It could be pulled around with a horse carriage or put on rails to be moved around.

    Dead?!

Here is the Latest Update from the TGW MOD

    Welcome to Our Website !

We have another minor update for the mod, just to kindle your appetites for the mammoth upcoming press release and to prove to fans that we are still powering at full momentum.

Just a small introduction on my part, I am WartyX, primarily a skinner for The Great War mod. However, as well as carrying out some minor odd jobs such as producing the release trailers and brewing the tea, I will be writing a large amount of the updates you will see on the main site and the forums - so you had better get used to me!

First things first, it has been quite a while, but we now have a fully working website up, running and online. The team will be regularly updating each section; we have faith in fans to keep track of the mod’s progress eagerly! Make sure you check out the detailed FAQ and media sections, and register at our forums to get the latest news before everybody else!

Click at the banner to visit our new website!
Secondly, we have completed the model and texturing process for the German Maschinegewehr ’08, thrusting the gun into the Company of Heroes universe, nearly a century after being thrust into ours.

A direct descendant of the British Maxim gun, the MG08 was officially adopted by the German Imperial Army before the First World War as its primary Heavy Machine Gun. The MG08 became a very popular machine gun amongst the troops due to its reliability and durability. Its effective range was estimated around and beyond one mile, and it fired a daunting 450 rounds per minute. However, the powerful water-cooled weapon was hindered only by its own weight, meaning that it was limited from being deployed as anything other than a defensive weapon.

In The Great War 1918, the gun will be manned by specialised weapon crews of the German Empire. Much like the Heavy Machine Guns in vanilla Company of Heroes, their primary role will be laying blankets of cover fire upon amassed enemy infantry.

I hope this satisfies you for the time being; we will have more on the MG08 and other German Empire weaponary and equipment very soon in our forthcoming press release.

This looks great, always on the lookout for a good WWI game. Keep it up!

Was talking about CoH and WWI today with a friend at work and thinking about how bases could work. This went along the lines of starting with an initial trench system and then add to it with each base upgrade, so you end up with a complex to recruit infantry, support, arty etc.

Off to look at your website!

so britain got the shaft? did you guys think it would be too easy to port them over to WWI from OF? cause they already seem to fight with WWI tactics

Also i thought the game engine only allowed overhauls of the races, not new races altogether, so how would you have the ottomans AH and germans on one side?

The British Empire is still one of the two first factions we are working on, along with the German Empire. We’re just trying to finish one before moving to the other, hence why most releases are about the Germans.
What Jorge was mentioning were the other factions we’re considering working on once the first two are finished.

There’s a way to add completely new factions to the game as you can see in the “How To and Tutorials” subforum.
