    CPU Players

I can't remember when I last saw a Axis CPU player use a Tiger.

Does it matter what difficulty you set them at? I usually play hard/expert.

I don't use tanks all that often... would just like to see the CPU throw some beefy stuff my way for a change.

Thanks for the link Esox... will check that out.

My bro and I usually play Allies, against Hard AIs. Long as you don't rush em towards the beginning like a pansy they'll toss tanks at you like crazy, assuming the map provides adequate fuel. I have seen the AI's use Tigers and Tiger Aces before, but not very often.

Get Warnstaff's AI Mod, play on hardest difficulty, hope that your opponent chooses either Blitz or Terror, and when it finally gets to Tigers, be sure to have a way to destroy their HQ or you will have to fight them again, and again, and again, and again..

Which is quite fun actually, the sea of AT guns and StuGs can get a little frustrating though.

The AI just spams stuff...usually jeeps/bikes.

I haven't seen the AI use doctrine units nearly as often as with this latest patch. Never have I seen the AI field, for instance, a Calliope, before 1.7.

It spams Tigers, sure. Hell, methinks it spams anything that only has one cost requirement: It's as if it'll take whatever it can afford manpower-wise first instead of waiting the 10 seconds for enough munitions or fuel to get a far superior unit. It also rarely gets unit upgrades.

But as for criticisms, I'd say that, aside from unitspam, its major problem is that it never really does combined arms tactics or really practices unit retention.

So not only are 57s spammed like there's no tomorrow, but because they don't really keep up with reinforcing riflemen or other bread-and-butter units, it's almost as if 57s are the only units on the field. Worse yet, but because the enemy AI spams Stugs at the time 57s are being spammed, you get this field of assault gun carcasses and groups of vet'd 57s every fight.

No surprise it prefers to spam Manpower-only units. After all, manpower is the single resource where the AI has bonusses at hard and expert level.
You like Allied War Machine? Forget AWM! Wait for a Mediterranean expansion and behold the power of Italian War Machine. Get one new German tank for every two of your own tanks retreated off-map. ^_^*

I saw it spam Calliopes the other day and I had to chase them all over the place. Never seen a Tiger or a Pershing, or, for that matter, an artillery strike or a panzershrek. It also lets units sit idle at the threshhold of their buildings for-ever. When you do multi-AI-player, it'll send units to your base and let them just sit there. Gee, thanks!

While it's still entertaining to play, they really need to beef up the AI when the expansion comes out.

Try a 4v4CPU, you'll find the game one of the most challenging.

If but for the 63 million 57s. I mean, I wouldn't mind if it spammed riflemen and tanks all day (or volks, grens and panzers). But it spams such niche units as to drive me wild.

And yeah. They build mgs and use 'em to cap points. They build mortars and place them in my base. Odd.

Just played a normal and hard on rails - the hard one started spamming tigers towards the end.

    This MOD ROX!!!!

My buddy and I played a 2v2 game last night and we ended in a stalemate for 2 hours! I had to give it up because by that time I was suppose to wake up in 3 hours to go to work.

One question though...will I have patching problems once 1.8 comes out if I still have this MOD installed?

Make it two questions.... How come when I use the shortcut for this MOD some maps like D-Day coop don't appear in the map list? I now have 2 shortcuts in my quick launch. 1 for this MOD and 1 for the regular COH. Btw, the latter shortcut gives me all the maps installed.

What AI are we talking about here? The vanilla AI or the Warnstaff's AI?

    To TheVoid,
If you're referring the AI in the AI Mod, the AI doesn't spam any units except certain doctrine units, which is NOT because of the manpower bonuses. The AI can have a huge stockpile of fuel and still spam these doctrine units. Warnstaff hasn't been able to pin down why the AI overrides his limits on these units and has turned off the production of most of them (eg, storms).

If you're referring to the vanilla AI, then that AI just spams units regardless of the conditions.

    @Muad,
Patching to 1.8 won't be affected by the mod being installed.
Probably, the reason that the D-Day coop doesn't appear is that it's another mod. I don't believe you can run two mods at the same time.
I can play AI Mod with third-party maps. Are you saying you can't?

    To all,
With regards to the AI Mod, keep in mind that you're not likely to see things like Tigers and Pershings if the game doesn't last long enough. A 500pt VP game is likely to end just about the time that these units will show up. If you want to insure that you see these units, either play Annihilate or a 1000pt VP game.

Some 3rd party maps yes...not all though. I think the official term for the missing maps is "scripted map", which is what D-Day coop probably is right?

Well I played my first match using the AI Mod. Was easily the most entertaining match vs the CPU I've ever played.

Was a 2v2 on Rails... I used my usual tactics... Had enemy snipers takin out my 57s.. and finally some armor besides Stugs... Loads of Tigers... it was great. My CPU teammate was also alot more helpful than usual. Great stuff!

Can this mod be used with other people in a lan game?

Yep, they all need it installed tho, and to be using it. It works well over hamachi too.

    AI insanity !

Tried out Warnstaff's updated AI mod, this is the latest version of advanced AI mod ain't it ?

Anyhow I found it insanely challenging, 1v1 expert allied AI on wrecked train, 5 matches and lost every one ! Ganna hit it again later after the frustration fades.

I'm a fairly casual CoH-er but against default AI can handle expert CPU with the occasional loss but mostly wins and when using an older version of what was called the advanced AI mod back in 1.5 or so I was also able to manage an expert CPU also...

The really well executed combined arms of the AI in the mod are really, really well implemented !

Relic have alot to live up to when OF comes round where AI is concerned !

Just a question on BARS vs Armoured cars, are they supposed to do noticable damage to non-vet armoured cars ? 3 BAR rifle squads at various vet lvls took down my armoured car to half health over about a minute, unsupported and without stickies ! I watched in disbelief, thats not right ! Right ? Is this a mod specific change to make up for the lack of sticky bombing ?

Played a few more matches... the first one I had won... then I lost like four. This AI is crazy with mortar teams... they get like 3+ organized and nail your stuff at once. Its crazy! I started putting snipers up ahead of the lines with hold fire on... then once mortars appear taking them out.

I haven't used the AI mod just the vanilla game and I have seen clusters of AI mortars before. As well as flammenwerfers, Calliopes, 105mm barrage strikes (and off-map artillery). I don't recall seeing a Pershing though I have to admit.

D-Day Coop is just a normal .sga map like most others other so it works with all mods, but most mods don't use the default map folder so you gotta change it manually or make copies of the maps. Easiest way is to just open the mods .module file and change the ScenarioPackFolder line to "ScenarioPackFolder = WW2\Scenarios"
