    is this normal

i don't browse any other game forums so please tell me if this type of overbearing moderation is normal for game forums. the forums i'm used to pretty much let the community get on with it without fealing the need to censor or lock every 5th thread. it feels like a police state in here. (a report post button is usefull if things get out of hand)

maybe there is another homeworld forum where people get treated with respect. please post links quick :bandit:

Yes it's normal, strict moderation is needed to keep a forum tidy and pleasant. It's annoying to get the same question/threads over and over again by people (this would be you) who are to lazy to search the forums first.

i do appreciate the fact that it is nice to have the direct line to the top that this forum has. it seems like it could be really good. i guess the other threads on this topic must have been deleted cause i didn't find any trawling though all the back pages. i did however feel an immediate need to locate another forum where there are more indians and less chiefs

You could try HWUniverse, but it doesn't have nearly as many people as there are here, though the moderation is a little less strict. The moderators tend to mostly ignore the HW forums, since they normally don't get much traffic, but don't post stupid shit in the Off-Topic forum or it'll get locked.

good boards need rules. IMO this board is one of the best i know but i have to confess i only know about 100 boards of the world.

if threads werent be closed they would just drift of topic or convert to a flame thread no one really likes.

if people know they cant do everything they behave much more grown up.

boards with a cetain size need good moderation, otherwise they fill up with counting threads, flame threads or other crap, just to increase your posting number or something.

i really like the fact that this place is popular as that is what i'm used to. it is very well designed and the themeing is great. considering the 17 pages so far the growth rate is obviously increadable. but for how long i can't help wonder. it took me one day to start a desperate hunt for alternatives. maybe its because they're taking this early opportunity to thump everyone into line. no post count is one of the best ideas yet

    Flytek:

If you have an issue with specific points of moderation, feel free to bring it up in the moderation issues forums.

Yes, we are paying extra attention to threads to keep things tidied up right now. Going from an average of 30ish users browsing the forums to over 100 can do dreadful things to the forums. Keeping them organized by culling duplicate or spam threads is one way of keeping the forums relatively on topic.

Check out the different areas of the forums for what there is to offer here, along with the forums guideline forum for more information and some history of these forums.

btw, if you want strict, try the redvsblue.com forums.

flytek, if you want that type of forum, all you have to do is go to www.google.com. that's step 1. step 2 is type "counter-strike forums" in the input space, or the "funny little space where you type text". step 4 press "Google Search". wait for it to load, be patient, then, step 5, go crazy clicking links.

    ANOTHER PROBLEM SOLVED.

Put me in the ranks of people who have seen the result of having too little moderation in forums. It's not pleasant.

No one forced you to register here flytek. No one will stop you leaving.

If you feel that people here are not treated with respect, then perhaps you should display a little respect yourself and actually make some salient or at least specific points about this supposedly disrespectful treatment of members.

To be perfectly honest, if that complaint were true, this post would be somewhat more scathing in its critique of your failure to either support your arguments or even make clear just what it is that you dislike about this board beyond some generalised accusations of "overbearing moderation".

Handrazuur, the Blizzard forums are a good bet. Check out the Diablo II 1.10 patch discussions. An excellent source and 100% of the US Recommended Daily Allowance of the multivitamins Spam, Cussin', and Pr0n.

If you want an unregulated environment where you're free to act your age (or the age of 13, if you're older than that), try mIRC, Channel Homeworld.

    1. Someone mentioned you and reki getting hooked up. The word marriage implies a she. My apologies.

    2. Really? I thought there was something disturbing about how you two acted like twins.

    I second that nomination Bnonn,

I thought Rekis and souls avatars looked alot like Ancient Chinese for "Love of my Life" But I thought I was merely imagining things. I think this has gotten out of hand!
