Installation issue

When I first tried installing Dawn of War Platinum I would get the error "Installation Package could not be opened". I tried a clean boot as per instructions from THQ. I would get past the CD key entry but once the game started to load I got the error message, "Internal Error 2228 Registry Select Root Key Name Value from Registry Component Where Registry =? And Registry Component, Component, Component." This has all been done with all of my background security and other windows disabled. I have tried copying and pasting the files to my hard drive and I get the same error. I bought the stand alone Dark Crusade game to see if it was a software issue. When I try to install Dark Crusade I get an error message that Install Shield has to shut down. I have been able to load other games and even the older version of War Hammer and Winter Assault (of course I don't have those games anymore). I have updated my windows installer and my DVD Rom's Firmware. I have no idea what to do next. Thanks, Casey

Update: I was able to install the game on my laptop, which runs Windows Vista OS. I networked the two machines and was able to copy the loaded files from the laptop to my PC. The game runs just fine. Why don't I just play the game on the laptop? My PC has a much better graphics card. But this is obviously an operating system issue not a game issue

Well the error is obviously talking about the registry - yours must be corrupted. There are tools you can download to try and repair registry errors - they may be able to help you, if not then a windows repair might do it.
