Quick guide for converting aiming Marines

I figured that I would share this for those that may have missed it in my Chaos Marine project log.

I've been working on building and converting my second squad of Chaos Marines. I plan on converting all 10 marines to make a unique squad.

Here's a how to, for making Marines who look like they are aiming before they shoot.

Here is what I've done so far, I started with the arms that hold the bolter at an upward angle. (high port is the military term IIRC)

I cut off both hands at the wrists

Then I drilled holes on the wrists and hands for pinning. Then I used some Hobbytac (basically thick sticky PVA) to hold the arms in place while I positioned the hands. I did the right hand fist, so I had the leveled position for the bolter in the right position before moving on to the left hand.

This is what the model looks like with a bolter set in position, before the green stuffing of the wrists.

Here is the green stuffed wrists. for the right hand I made it look like the soft armor of the hip and knee joints. For the left I just filled it in.

This is the completed Marine ready to be primed. I decided to give a nod to the days of Rogue Trader by adding the combat accessory to the bolter; I may do a few more on the other squad members.

I think it turned out pretty nice and it was really easy.

Sure it's easy, but how often do you actually see people doing it?

I have seen very few, people seem to ignore the nondramatic poses. This is a great way to spice up you basic tactical squad with very little effort.

Thanks for showing me this while it is easy I never thought of doing it. I spent so much time converting my Chaos Lord and Termintors that the rest of my army looks lacking next to them so now I am moving on to my basic troops. Going to start 2night puting some CSM into "high Port" poses.

Thanks to BDJV and Colonel Temp. I've been assembling a Battle Company for my local store (lazy so-and-so's) and to stave off boredom with the poses have fitted in several aiming marines, three reloaders and a couple of others along the way.

Small and simple conversions, but very satisfying none the less.

He got the helmets from Khorne bezerker models with the head-pieces cut and filed off.
This thread is also 2 years old, so I wouldn't expect to get a response from BVJD.
