    Homeworld Riddle Thread

    Rules:

This riddle thread is open to any and all Relic Forum members that wish to participate. The rules are all basiclly simple if you bother to read them. The rules really don't need much enforcing. There are several recommended guidelines that are listed in order to help maintain an orderly method to this entertaining past time.

    Recommended procedural guidelines (Now Official):

[1] Only one riddle can be posted at any given time. Once that riddle has been solved and confirmed by the riddle's author, the next riddle will be written by the one who solved the previous riddle. This responsibility can be directed onto another at the discretion of the one who solved the riddle, or the author of the riddle is there is no response.

[2] Make only one guess at a time. This prevents people from randomly guessing without thinking for the answer. It is also recommended that you include some basis from which you dervied your answer, some riddlers may require this in order to confirm/deny your answer.

[3] Once the riddle has been solved, the next riddle must be posted within 2 days of the confirmation. After this time has passed, the writer of the previous riddle can designate another to write the required riddle. This assures that the threads do not become too idle awaiting the next riddle.

[4] The riddle and its solution must be from a Homeworld game or media including but not limited to: HW1 HWC HW2 Dustwars Mods HW too. At any time while a given riddle is being solved, a hint can be requested. Giving this hint is at the writer's discretion. Just dont request one every other guess lol.

[5] Run the Riddles through a spell checker before posting.

[6] Highlight the Riddles in a colour.

[7] Do not edit your reply. It's cheating.

[8] If a riddle is invalid, the author has to write another one, or the person who answers the riddle has to go with the usual procedure.

[9] If a correct answer is given with the wrong explination the guess is still right.

Ok to get this off in the right direction I will post the first riddle and make it relatively easy. I just want everyone to get into the flow before we start with the hard riddles. Ok here I go.

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line
    You should follow my path
Although its not as easy as it seems
I was cherished by your people, forgotton and discovered by your children.

yeah beast main self got it its the guide stone, i made it super simple.

i would like to how you came up with the answer example:

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line - if you look at the stone you can see the direct path from kharak to hiigara

You should follow my path - its the easiest way to hiigara

Although its not as easy as it seems - you had to fight a galactic war to get there

I was cherished by your people, forgotton and discovered by your children. - the exiles created it in hope that later generations would find it, through the sands of time it was forgotton but eventually found by the exiles decendants

    X Y but not Z the map is drawn 2-deminsionally (x and y axis)

but i guess since it was so simple an explination was not needed

ok now beast main comes up with a riddle

The Three Far Jump Cores. One was used by the Bentusi and guarded zealously against the younger races. Another was used to get a shipload of Exiles to Hiigara through a war. And when the third showed up, Makaan and his fleet essentially pitted it against the other two.

Yes, it indeed is the Keepers, but Silver Wolf got it first.

We still need official clarification from Riess, so don't post more thanks.

This is being nitpicky, but it actually isn't a straight line. There are a few bends in it.

As for the answer to the riddle, I thought it was the Emergency Beacon from HW:C at first.
My Interceptor is better than your Interceptor.

I'm guessing it's the Supernova Station mission in HW1.

Through the dust - Means a few things here. It could be referring to the fact that you have to bring your ships through the dust belts in order to avoid the radiation. The other reference is to the Outer Rim Dust Bank which the Kushan fleet has just cleared.

Before the truth - The mission immediately after, Tenhauser Gate, is where you and the Kushan fleet learn of the reason for their Exile, aka the Bentusi revelation mission. I would thus guess that this is the "truth" you're referring to.

After the phantom - A reference to the mission just before, the Sea of Lost Souls. Here, the Phantom is probably a reference to the Ghost Ship, a derelict vessel of great mystery.

And wow, so far these riddles are just cool!
I have no strong feelings one way or the other.

This is in reference to the riddles about keys, note you could spin off various riddles based on the many keys in HW2.

I think that atma got it there, I'm sure his riddle will be super-difficult .

My guess is the Ghenna Astroid fields:

    Through the Dust: It's dusty.

    Before the Truth: The Oracle

After the Phantom: The Bentusi ???

    Sarum Dust Clouds?

It fits all of those lines to a point anyway. Your ships were undetectable in the clouds(phantoms)
They could only be seen with a probe or a ping or if they engaged in battle since basic sensors were moot in there.(the truth bit)

And the other part is pretty self explanitory.(Through the dust)

I know i'm probably wrong but it was worth a shot.

    Let's see-

I came to help, but needed help in the end.

This could mean the Bentusi, Captain Soban...

I was blinded, but a flame guided me through hostile land.

Soban was not blinded, but the Bentusi were, by the beast. Later they disarmed their Flagship and needed help from the Taiidan.

So my guess is- The Bentusi?

I came to help but needed help in the end.- Captain Elson assisted the Exiles, but required assistance later on.
I was blinded, but a flame guided me through hostile land.- He appears around when the Mothership takes heavy damage, and begins to burn (usually).

So, my guess is Captain Elson.

I switch to Captain Soban, then.

Soban helped Pride of Hiigara, then got captured and needed its help. The second line doesn't really go with it, though.

You Can only make one guess per riddle .

This is to prevent random guessing.

    The Caal-Shto

I came to help, but needed help in the end.
The Caal-Shto arrived at Aiowa to assist the Bentusi and the Kuun-Lan in their destruction of the Beast, but was subsequently damaged by the Bentusi's self-destruct.

I was blinded, but a flame guided me through hostile land.
Part of this damage was to the Caal-Shto's navigation and sensor systems. The Somtaaw (later Beastslayers - "burn" the Beast) guided the carrier through the Kadiir nebula, past an Imperialist Taiidan outpost.

JAL-18 got it right except for the flame part. The flame was intended as a direct reference to the Kuun Lan, which according to the manual, meant "Purifying Flame."

We can now await JAL's riddle.
