Rename player name?

The player name for my game now defaults to my PC name... and I can't change it.

Anyone got the same?

Anyone know how to change?

have the same thing as well, do you know if my game is going to be fine? i accidently downloaded and installed the patch today....i am able to play the OF campaigns fine just worried about the online part.

Yeah got this same issue as well, this really sucks for people who value their online security, let alone that you dont wanna be called Computer_H00112AXAADDF or something:LOL:

Yeah I think this is really dumb personally...I mean being able to come up with a nickname is not only for the purpose of having a cool name, but for safety purposes too...
Relic REALLY needs to change this IMO.

You should verify your connection to the server if this is happening, as it probably forced an offline login.

Check the green or red dot in the corner. If it's red, you're offline. If you're online, you'll have your profile name.

Should be noted that I am a development tester at Relic, and not customer support person. I know how these systems work though, so I have the knowledge to help.

Uhm... so we cannot change our nickname for LAN Games anymore ? I Mean, the game will use the Account Name OR the Computer Name without be able to change it ?

I had the same thing. I messed up the patch and so had to reinstall vCoH then patch again.
I am not a number - but it is no longer possible to convince RO otherwise until you can log in at which point you can choose any existing profile name.

Still think you should be able to change it from a number when you are not on-line though.

It uses your computer name when there's no previously used account. AKA, first time playing with no internet connection.

If you're offline and have logged in with a profile before, that profile name will be in your cache.

Kyle is correct.

I had same problem as the rest of you earlier. Once the RO servers came up this evening and I was able to download/install the patch and login into RO as the game came up, my old CoH account/profile showed up and that initial OF account I got just after installing disappeared. You probably need to login to RO once, at least, and the problem will go away.
