    No-one else having this issue?

    I'm running Vista 32bit (as administrator), e6600, 2gb ram and 7900gtx.

Game installs just fine, but won't patch.

Anyway I have completely removed all traces of the original game and the OF install, cleaned the registry and am now reinstalling and patching from scratch.

edit: ok fresh install and redownloading patch did not fix.

    Any help appreciated!

Same issue, only fresh install of OF for me, just bought it, installed fine, even ran fine up until point of login/needing patch, patch failed as per OP.

What are your pc specs and o/s Movo? Running as administrator?

I'm guessing its a compatibility issue with the version of the game we have (mine is Australian release) and the patch that is automatically getting installed.

Vista is a demon. Give it 5 or 10 minutes to actually open the patch. The administrator permissions thing will finally popup first. Advance past that, and you'll finally be able to install the patch.

C2D E6750, same Windows Vista 32bit(ran patch as admin, heck, ran setup/everything I could think of as admin or without a couple times over), 2gig ram and 8600GT as graphics card. And yes. Australian release. I downloaded the patch from Internode, patch error, ran the game and tried to patch through that, same error.

EDIT: Patch popped up as per normal. Stopped and got that error on hitting the Engine.sga file

The error that pops up kills the patch install altogether so waiting wouldn't fix it.

By administrator permissions do you mean UAC? Because I have that disabled so it shouldn't be an issue.

The patch install goes through a few files before getting to the engine.sga file and then errors out.

UAC disabled on my end, too.

I have a unique Vista issue (32bit). I can't get past the "small" 132mb patch. It keeps saying the patch download has failed /please try again later. I "ok" my way out and back and it resumes where it left off at a SNAIL'S PACE. I fear the "big" patch.

Ok, reenabled UAC and a few other services I had disabled in the services.msc and then rebooted but still the same issue when attempting to apply the patch.

I suspect its a patch incompatibility

Can you guys having the problem confirm your location? (Ie Australia?)

Could it be a problem with the patch and the aussie release of OF?

Yep - Aussie here - same error when applying the patch.

The good news is if you disconnect from the net you can at least play single player while you're waiting for them to fix it.

Might I recommend download managers for those with problems downloading the patch (which probably should've propagated to other download services by now?)

Hi guys, I just created a thread. (didn't see this one)

Am getting the same error message on XP.

Also have to hit escape 3 times to get game to load.

Bought the game from EB Noosaville Civic QLD AUSTRALIA this afternoon.

Rommel said that at Tobruk, when Hitler demanded to know why he allowed a colonial division to fire the might of the German army, and Rommel said, "This isn't a colonial division, it's an Australian division. Give me two Australian divisions and I'll conquer the World for you."

This *might* be an issue with the build of CoH that was put out in Australia.

I imagine they ship the game to local CD presses to press it, they *might* have shipped an old build.

What would be interesing is an MD5 sum of the game's install files.

    http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...15#post2074015

Then we can get a compare of a north american version and see if it's the same.

Hi Uber, the game is definetely a local version - manufactured in Australia.

Here is the MD5 sums for both the Australian DVD of CoH OF and also the installed files on my computer:

    http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl5sc0//Martino_installed.md5

Let me know if there is anything else that is needed. Thanks!

I've just posted the error on the other thread:
    http://forums.relicnews.com/showpost...2&postcount=62

As noted, it seems to fail on Engine.sga

    Australia, Brisbane, EB Games.

Yup, something must be wrong with the engine.sga file in our version. Comon Relic, fix it already!

Yeah you can - just disconnect from the internet and you can play single player as long as the disc is in the drive.

how to play past this problem online

Hey guys i have managed to get the game going despite not being able to install patch.

If you have the original COH install it fresh and then patch it all up with previous patches. Then use the 1.71-2.101 (1.8gig) to finish up. Then log into to relic online with normal COH. Before entering with your profile you can "Add Product". At this point you will be asked for the opposing fronts cd key and to insert the dvd. Then you are right to play.

I appreciate it requires a lot of downloads if you haven't got all those patches.

    The stupidities of copy protection.

I think it has been established by now that no-one who legitimately bought a copy of COH:OF in Australia can play the game. I have the exact patching issue as described by other forum members and I'm extremely unimpressed.

It wouldn't be so bad to simply play the single player campaign/skirmish until this problem is addressed... but WHY oh WHY did some genius decide that skirmish would be unplayable in the offline mode?

Although I can understand why producers attempt to limit the damage piracy does to their sales, this situation is an all too common example of poorly thought out copy protection harming only the law abiding.

The truly amusing thing about all this is that while I bought a copy of COH:OF from EB my sister torrented a cracked version this afternoon. If this patching issue isn't fixed by 9:00AM tomorrow I'm returning my copy to EB for a refund and just getting her to burn me a copy.

COH is one of my favorite games of all time, I think the development team are nothing short of artists. I would most likely hold the same opinion of OF - IF I COULD PLAY IT.

Do you get ALL the new maps from OF if you just add the key in vCoH jojoaus? Or do you only have the ones from vCoH + the ones after the 1.8GB patch?

freebie71 from another aussie forum noticed this with the Opposing Fronts RelicCOH.exe:

The version number in the ingame menu clearly says 'version 2.10.0' but the file version of the .exe above is 1.71.0.1674.

This is on a fresh install of OF too, not upgrading from vanilla.

    Hmm..

Yeah I just played single player on Vire River after I disconnected the internet and it crashed 15 minutes into the game and I didn't have access to the 2 old armies even though I had Vanilla COH installed as well

Zero quality control by THQ and Relic obviously.

    Same error message.

RelicCOH.exe also shows version number 1.71.0.1674

    Also located in Australia.

In the process of downloading the 'Company of Heroes v1.71 to v2.101 English Patch' (1.75Gb) and will see if that allows me to install that.

Edit: Don't bother with the above suggestion - IT DOES NOT WORK (Error code 10264 - it was worth a try)
