The claws are excellent, is the right hand from the spawn sprue?
Im guessing theyll be lightening claws then?

Been a busy hour or two - here he is with head green-stuffed and attached...

Definitely pleased with how he's starting to look, especially when compared to the original concept sketch (and bearing in mind Tinweasel's suggestions)...

A very busy hour or so indeed, very cool i must say, well done![]()
"The claws are excellent, is the right hand from the spawn sprue?"
Thank you and yes, it's one of the claws from that. It seemed to fit nicely with the position of the Loyalist Terminator arm.
"I'm guessing they'll be lightning claws then?"
Even though I planned him just as a random Possessed for the hell of it, looking at him tonight I think this guy's actually going to work nicely as a stand-in Lord for my army...since the Lord was going to have paired LCs anyway and I reckon these work well enough as proxies for those.
Me happy now![]()

Really awesome work Svart!
love the possessed/Chaos Lord!
keep up the awesome work!
Hrmmm...
Formerly known as Ragnarok2504
Holy mackerel Svartmetall that possessed terminator lord is truly awesome. A great inspiration to us fledgling nurgle painters / modelers, what I’d give to have your GS skills. Cant wait to see your guys all painted up.
The emaciated thigh on the hoof leg is great, sticking to your sketch well!
I have to say, up till now I have only really done minor GS conversions, but youre giving me incentive to try something more ambitious...what, I dont know, but something...
The face. Well, I think Azeek put it better than I could.
Strange, I have the urge to watch 'The Fly' The face reminds me of that. I feel that you may find inspiration in the monsters from The Fly, and The Fly 2, the odd sequel, but with a monster that may interest you.
For some reason, it looks like its dancing to me![]()
"it looks like it's dancing to me"
Heh, I guess Nurgle gives Saturday Night Fever a whole new meaning...![]()

@Svartmetall - how did you go about making the entrails on the terminator lord? did you make them all separate or did you start off with a lump of GS and work the detail out till you got the entrails you have now?
I made them all separately - took a small piece of GS, rolled it into a thin cylinder, then curved it as appropriate and stuck it on. It works best if you use a few different thicknesses, to give the effect of all the different guts hanging out...there are 9 separate pieces of GS for the guts on this model. I wondered about sculpting them from one lump, but then I figured nothing looks more like a bunch of tubes than...well...a bunch of tubes.

Thanks for clearing that up Svartmetall, i have a Chaos terminator lord and various bits of chaos, im working on a chaos terminator sorcerer lord who is gonna be nurgle'd. think im going to be reading up on GS modelling and nurgle tutorials before i start converting him.
You are a green stuff god.
I'm always excited to see you have an update man, your work is astounding.

Blimey, that is one ugly Termie. Nice one![]()
These are excellent! I think you need to go back to the first post in this thread and edit out the word "noob." That word has nothing to do with the work you've got on display here.
Ultramarines, Orks, Chaos, Tyranids, IG, Daemons
I agree, you are no longer allowed to call yourself a noob Svart, you are far beyond that stageKeep on truckin though! I can't wait to see your guys all painted!

"you are no longer allowed to call yourself a noob Svart"
The thing is, I definitely still feel like one. This is my first army, I've only been doing this for about 6 months in all, and for at least two of those I was out of action due to the depression. I'm massively flattered by - and grateful for - all the positive comments and feedback here, but I don't want to let it go to my head, especially not when I'm still painfully aware of all the stuff I don't know how to do yet.
Would you settle for quasi-noob?
![]()
no we wont settle for that
ive been in the hobby a little over two years and i cant paint or GS models to an extent anywhere near your skill level
you were born with the talent
you are no noob! svart you are the nurgle master!
Noob-esque...? Neo-noob? Noobacious?
i say we make you Relic's "Lord of Nurgle"
who here seconds that?
*blushes and hides behind a passing Great Unclean One*
All Hail Lord of Nurgle! How much more do you have to GS/paint? I can't wait to see the whole army together.
I've been on and off lurking this thread for awhile now and I can now safely say congrats man!
Those models are looking deadly. I'm especially excited about this Possessed Death Guard Terminator, it's looking awesome so far.
When are you posting up the army list for us to rip apart? Or have I just missed it?
This is the army list as things stand:
PANDEMIC – 1,500 point Death Guard Army
Comprised primarily of Death Guard who chose to leave Mortarion's Daemon world to more actively spread disease and destruction through the Galaxy, the Chaos warband known as Pandemic is led by the hulking, hideously disfigured form of Kothaar the Putrescent. Kothaar leads his Terminator squad and those who have flocked to the banner of the Lord Of Decay on an endless campaign of destruction and disease. Specialising in close-quarter combat and recognisable by a ghastly tumourous bloating that has spread throughout their ranks, these footsoldiers of Nurgle were instrumental in spreading plague throughout the Agripinaa Sector during the Thirteenth Black Crusade and earned a fearsome reputation for brutality during the fighting on Amistel Majoris.
HQ 1) Lord Kothaar the Putrescent. Terminator armour and paired lightning claws, Mark of Nurgle, Personal Icon
155 Points
ELITES
1) 10 Terminators. Terminator Champion with Reaper autocannon and chainfist; 2 pairs of lightning claws, 4 chainfists, 1 heavy flamer, Icon Of Nurgle
475 Points
2) Dreadnought Vvornth. Twin-linked heavy bolters, heavy flamer
110 Points
3) 7 Chosen. Aspiring Champion with paired lightning claws; flamer
161 Points
TROOPS
1) 7 Plague Marines. Plague Champion with power fist; 2 plasma guns
231 Points
2) 7 Plague Marines. Plague Champion with power weapon
191 Points
HEAVY SUPPORT
1) 7 Havocs. 2 heavy bolters, 2 missile launchers
175 Points
Total: 1,498 Points
I'm keeping it primarily infantry-based in keeping with the original Death Guard ethos of grinding down through sheer resilience and persistence, hence no Fast Attack; I'm more concerned with getting it to feel right to me than min-maxing it all for idealised on-the-table performance. The fully tooled-up Chosen squad with lascannon etc. will be added for the 2,000-point version, as will vehicles.

OK, like everyone else said, that termie is ridiculous. Great work!!!
Me - Dude! Don't eat that (habanero beef jerky), it's friggin' hot as f*ck!!!
Tim - Oh, it's not baaaaa...aaaaa....aaaa.....aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! It's like the devil p*ssed in my mouth!!!

Mmm... gotta love the Dremel!
The new guy is looking excellently - pity I used that same head on one of my Spawn. But of course I can't copy you as that would be just not kosher... loving the guts, rot, and spikiness, though. Excellent conversion!
The army list looks solid by me, assuming 7 is the magic Nurgle number. The one thing I'd suggest, though, is adding a Rhino to the Havocs so as to at least have them mobile on the field as walking them around is kinda pointless. The other fringe benefit is a Havoc Missile Launcher for cheap, which in my own Havoc list counts as an extra Missile Launcher which when paired up with the rest of the guys will be dropping pie plates all over the enemy. They might not be Ordnance, but I think 5 Missile blast templates every round of firing ought to shake up something, especially against massed armies with poor armor. Just an idea...
love the list, very fluffy (fluff is where i usualy reside, but i do go to all aspects)
the fluff, let me take a crack at it, is wonderful, it fits with your army well.
list wise i think power fists on both of your champs is better, seeing as nurgle has low initive as it is.
@Svartmetall - you're not allowed to post point cost on here.. it may follow with a ban.. I got the warning too
"For thousands of years we've waited in the dark, but now is the time to awaken and take what is rightfully ours" Unknown Phaeron transcript intercepted by Inquisitor Gabriel Khain
I think the points cost ban is just for individual points cost..

That's how I understood it, too - the Strategy & Army Lists forum is after all full of lists of overall unit costs. Obviously I'll remove it if it's a problem, though.

Yep ban is on individual costs only.
The list looks pretty solid and beautifully fluffy. Only thing I'd do is change the heavy bolters on the havocs for another 2 missile launchers if you can find the points.
The army is looking... well... pure awesome mate. I find it hard to believe this is your first army. Took me a long time to even get near your level of modelling with green stuff (if that makes sense. meh I'm tired). Well done.

I actually really like HBs for grinding up softer infantry targets, plus there's just something that feels very Nurgle about them - huge solid lumps of metal belching out projectiles. They're actually the most Nurgle-esque heavy weapon choice of the lot, to my mind. I almost made them 4 HBs - the two MLs represent my grudging concession to anti-armour capability as much as anything else. Come the 2,000-point version of the army, though, I'll look at the composition of the Havocs again.
You should get that list in the Strat forum so we can look more thoroughly into it.
Right now I will post a bit of my two cents...
I think your Chosen should get some more Love. More Special Weapons really lends itself to a squad that can take four of them and a Lightening Claws.
Although I enjoy the model you have for the Reaper, it doesn't really fit the rest of your Terminator set up. The set up right now is for close combat, you want to Deep Strike on top of a unit to utilize that Heavy Flamer to soften anything up before your next turn charge.
I think there are too many Chainfists there as well, if you can't penetrate with one or two, you are destined to fail. The other thing with the Chainfists is that with so many Power Weapons at Initiative, the chance of them actually getting to kill anything is slim.
I would drop the Terminators down to seven. This will free up some points for Plasma Guns on the second Plague Marine squad, Icons for your Havocs and Chosen, and perhaps a few Special Weapons in the Chosen squad.
I think you really need an Icon on those Chosen because it will allow you to Deep Strike right on top of them without a scatter.
Yep ban is on individual costs only
my bad
"I think your Chosen should get some more Love. More Special Weapons really lends itself to a squad that can take four of them and a Lightening Claws"
If you look at the models I've made for the Chosen, there's actually a Melta, Lascannon, Plasma Gun and Flamer in there; and the Champion already has paired LCs. Remember, this is just the sort-of-WIP 1,500-point build I'm working up at the moment.
"Although I enjoy the model you have for the Reaper, it doesn't really fit the rest of your Terminator set up"
Maybe not...but I'll go for aesthetics first any day, to be honest, and I just love that model; likewise with the chainfistsThis is basically a fluff-and-fun army for me, rather than a tournament army.
I was at Warhammer World a while back and one of the store guys there said something that stuck in my mind - he said he reckoned this hobby had three main parts to it; 1) fluff and backstory, 2) modelling/converting and painting, and 3) the actual on-the-table action, and that of those three things people generally chose two. I know in my case it's the modelling/converting and painting, and the fluff and backstory that take precedence. I enjoy playing 40K games, don't get me wrong - I got a real rush out of seeing some of the Pandemic guys on the table for the first time - but I suspect I like the other two facets of this hobby more.
Fair enough, I'm looking forward to seeing that Dread![]()
Hell I don't like nurgle, and plague marines, but your work is just too good to be left so long without my commentsYou sir are a great modeler, and convertor truly fantastic work with the plague stuff. Too bad paint scheemes for plague guy's are always so boring and dull
Yet again it's all a matter of tase probably...
Could you by any chance show me how to make any techniques other then the ones in your tutorial? I have a basic technique for armour, which involves thin gs spread out and then pushed with a pencil to make it look like a scab or just plain tumourus skin. I also have making boils, nugle symbols, open pus-filled sore thingies, and some just random mutation. However, I need a good technique for skin - I just don't know how to do it well. I've only had a bi of sucess near where gauntlets and the like start - just thin gs basicly cut to make it look like stretched skin, but it really isn't that visible and pretty crappy anyway. And also, I could use any other techniques for armour. Lastly, I'd like to know how to make a sort of mask. Basicly I have an ogre with a sheild glued on his head, that I couldn't remove. So I started sculptinga ski mask sort of thing, and now I have envisioned a a mask draped over the front of his face - like, hmm, a veil, but not as, well, girly. I made one, but I accidently ruined it by pressing it down, ruining the folds. Thing is, it took me forever to just get it on right. Is there any way that is substantially easier?
Hmm...let me think about that. If I can come up with anything coherent, I'll post it in the tutorial.
Quick update - I managed to get the GS work finished on one of the Terminators tonight. I like the way you can see there's two different textures used, the coral-like base texture and the sort of stretched-tissue texture at the edges and near the joints...IMHO it gives a real depth to the overall feel of the model. A little touch I like on this guy is the skull on the hook hanging off his sort of apron thing - I wanted it to look like he'd stuck a hook through the fabric to hang a skull off it, and I'm pleased with how the finished result looks.
I'm kind of pleased with how the GS work around his face has come out, it seems like it'll blend in nicely once painted; he has the same head I used on Stumpy The Tiny Chosen, so I wanted to make it look a bit different
And he has the cutest little pot belly. I may well end up using this model as my entry for the painting competition.
...and also here's another custom chainfist I did, using the Sentinel chainblade as a basis on a new Terminator - my thanks to Xenith for the tip on this one. I love this one, it looks really gnarly in the flesh...he's going to have the pintle-mounted twin bolter from the Chaos vehicle sprue in his other hand...
It's not so clear from this angle, but this guy's possibly the fattest Terminator I've made yet...he's like none. None more Nurgle.
As always, all comments and constructive criticism are welcomed.

Woah that guy needs to go on weight-watchers :P
im loving the sentinel chainfist however - may have to steal the idea![]()
Sorry, I saw the 'nurgle facial' in the title and almost retched. Damn my mind...
Im really, really liking the fat guy, youve really done a good job on the back with the stretching skin. really.
Could I maybe see a pic of the sentinel chainfist termie so hes looking at the camera to get an idea of the movement? Liking what you did with the L Claw hand, I just used the whole mechanical arm, being IW and such...
"Could I maybe see a pic of the sentinel chainfist termie so hes looking at the camera to get an idea of the movement?"
Your wish is my command...
I like his "Oh, you want some too?" body language...Current plan is to have his left arm aiming the twin bolter along his sightline...I've only just applied the GS work around the skull and his shoulder, though, so I need to wait for it to set first. I put a 2mm spacer between this model's legs, which is why he looks so thickset; next step on this guy after attaching the left arm will be applying a set of GS 'tendons' over the current patches at a 90-degree angle to give a sort of cross-hatching effect...

more lovely, discusting nurgly goodness.
more, MoRe, MORE, Nurgle Commands It!
other than that i love chunko the cottonball, hes very lovely![]()
Edited the thread title to save Xenith's brain. Looking at these two this morning - well OK, early afternoon - with a fresh pair of eyes I'm really pleased with them...as I progress with the overall work on the army I'm feeling my confidence grow as to what I can pull off conversion-wise, which is a nice feeling. Doing all the Terminators to the same level is going to be a lot of work, but worth it I think. Fluff-wise, they're the original core of Pandemic, so it seems reasonable to spend the time and effort to make them look just right.
Oh yeah - 10K views.
Very nice, I like the termie lord head, makes the guys look old school.
Im just thinking, that, while improper, rules wise, the pointy powerfist hand from the csm box set would look awesome on the chaifist guy, although it may look a bit small. you could always find a way to mount the combi bolter onto the model (underslung on fists, or nurgles onto the armour...)
Just a thought, feel free to ignore...
"I like the termie lord head, makes the guys look old school"
*posting from work*
I've actually since added some GS work around the back of the head to blend it more with the 'hood' of the armour, mainly to make his head look a bit less like the Bo Derek 'cornrow' hairstyle.
Svart, I've been lurking around here for a while and finally plucked up the courage to attempt a nurglificationismtion of a nurgle aspiring champion. So far, it goes well, but looking at it repels me from doing the rest, it's just too good and I'm afraid I'll fuck it all up on the other side XD Anyway, keep it up man.
Chaos Scores:
Wins:7/Draws: 2/Losses: 3
Tau Scores:
Wins:5/Draws: 1/Losses: 0
You have some awesome modeling skills dood, really nice, i personally don't like chaos and especially not nurgle but this is giving me heretical ideas XD
Just a crazy idea, how about you make an infected weapon, but not with GS, take a nid gun, maybe the deathspitter, make it fatter and more chaosy looking, and you have a nice plague gun![]()
And the mantis shrimp said "Let there be light!"
And there was death.
