I love the ogre dude with the jaws on the stomach. I'm stealing the idea for a fantasy dragon ogre =).
And Kharzal is very sexy. He reminds of a grenadier from Gears of War 2, face wise.

Now it's official in pixels, too...there's going to be a longer article sometime next week I think, from what the woman who runs the exhibition hall was saying while we were setting up the display. Once again, thanks to everyone for the support and advice I've had getting the army together thus far and with developing my modelling overall

I'm sorting out a to-do list, now, since I have all that empty shelf space where once dwelled lots of Terminators and stuff. Things I'm currently intending to make over the next few months include some or all of:

    • A big Daemon Prince of Nurgle
    • A Nurgle Vindicator
    • A Plague Grinder, if I can ever make up my mind how I want to do it
    • MOAR TERMINATORS!
    • That Ogryn conversion from page 1 of this threadnought that I never got round to doing, which I now feel confident I can pull off
    • A Possessed of Nurgle unit

...although I'm sure that, me being me, I'll get sidetracked by some other daft idea(s) halfway through and make something entirely different.

By way of getting back into the green-stuffing habit, I started work on a new Plague Marine two nights ago and so far I'm really liking the work on his torso - I wanted it to look like one large piece of skin that was torn in several places to show the guts underneath:

...I had been thinking he'd be a rank-and-file Plague Marine, but the more I do on him the more I'm thinking he may end up as a Plague Champion. Work on the Possessed Terminator for the conversion competition is going painfully slowly so far, due to lack of time, but I'm intending to get most of the work on him done over the weekend. More pictures when I have them...

Got quite a bit of work done last night & today on my entry for the conversion competition...here's where the Possessed is as of now, with arms blue-tacked on at the moment just to check the pose and obviously no face sculpted as of yet:

I don't know how clear it is from the pictures, but on the lower right leg I carved out all the plastic in between and behind the raised detail on the Terminator Lord leg, so that you could see that the flesh of the leg was inside and behind the level of the leg armour itself. This was really fiddly and took several hours, but while the end result is quite subtle I think it's worth it for the impression of depth it gives to the lower leg, which is clearest perhaps in the pic below.

I had planned to use the Spawn left arm on him, but looking at it in situ I'm starting to think it may actually be too big...

...the only other real option, however, is scratch-building one around an armature. Hmm. Need to sleep on it...

    Hehehehe..... I like him....

He's tall! And i can imagine him using his Spawn-arm to pick some one up by the neck and hammer him with the axe......

But yes i agree with the arm thing. It looks slightly out of shape, compared to the buffer, shorter right arm....

wtf? since when does a possessed marine need to be consistent? tzeentch must be getting to your head, shame on you!

the arm is exellent! reposition it so that it's almost reaching out for someone and it'll be perfect.

Ehh, I'm really fussy about proportion, and that arm with the huge hand just looks wrong to me. Plus, I'm kind of working to a design brief with this one since I'm trying to make a fairly accurate reproduction of this sketch...

...and I don't like setting myself a condition - the condition in this case being 'make it look like the sketch' - then wilfully ignoring it, that's just being lazy (and being lazy isn't going to help me improve as a modeller). I only went for using the hooves as feet on him after I had to admit to myself after several tries that I couldn't get my original idea for doing them - using some of the taloned Spawn hands as feet themselves - to look right.

Looking at the WIP model with a fresh pair of eyes today I think the arm itself is OK - if you look at it the elbow on the left arm is actually fairly consistent with where it is on the right - it's the hand that's the problem, it's just too big. So I may well use the arm and just replace the hand with a sculpted-GS one; as much as anything else it would match the right hand, then, as well.

The arm is WAY too big. Not a huge fan of the hooves either, though from the look of the concept sketch, you are going to craft those further.

The head will make or break the model.

Assuming the elbows of both arms are at the same relative length, I think they look just fine. Disproportioned limbs doesn't seem too far out of the pale for me so far as Nurgle goes.

What I do think needs to be fixed, though, if you wanted to keep the monstrous close combat arm (which I think works well, since it's a Possessed) is that the large left arm needs some texturing to make it a bit more similar to the right - and you would need to make sure the right hand's claws resemble the claws of the left hand... not necessarily in size, as the left hand's one are obviously misproportioned across the hand itself, but in the general shape: with a definite "cuticle" all round, a "bump" on the top where the claw first comes out of the finger, and the claws themselves in a gentle rounded curve.

I say leave it - just make 'em match a bit more. I also think the cloven hooves look fine in terms of the figure realistically being able to furiously charge into combat (whereas the feet in your tentative design sketch look a little "awkwards" - no offense!)

Are you going to Dremel off the details on the left greave and replace 'em with the tripartite Nurgle symbol?

The arm is WAY too big...
Yup, that was the first thing I thought when I got back from work last night and saw it with a fresh pair of eyes. I had so little time this afternoon after I was done getting groceries (damn you, extended work hours! Damn you to the very sphincter of Hades!) that I couldn't get much done, but the hand's gone and with a bit of repositioning (which I'm devoutly hoping to be able to do tonight) the arm will look pretty decent now, with just the GS work to build a new hand to do. I'll also add some 'skin problems' and stuff to the arm to make it a little more Plaguebearer-y.

Not a huge fan of the hooves either...
They've really grown on me, actually...
...the feet in your tentative design sketch look a little "awkwards" - no offense!)
Oh yes. They were sort of "LOOK AT MY HUGE MONSTER FEET", if that makes sense...they just didn't fit. One of those things that seems sensible on paper but doesn't really survive the transition into 3-D reality.

Are you going to Dremel off the details on the left greave and replace 'em with the tripartite Nurgle symbol?
    In a Nurgly nutshell, yes.

The head will make or break the model.
    *sudden attack of paranoia*
I didn't think the rest of the model was so bad but yes, the head is very important; I've never tried to sculpt a whole head from scratch before like this, so this will be a learning-curve moment for me (again, part of the reason for me choosing this as my entry for the competition). I do intend to scratch-build a Herald of Nurgle - as in one of the uber-Plaguebearers, not an Epidemius sculpt - at some point, and this will be good practice for that...

Now I must guess that heads are some of the hardest things to do. But I have seen a very good tutorial to GSing heads. Human heads though. I have it downloaded on my computer but if I find it around the internet I will put a link to it.

EDIT: Here it is! Its a tutorial for most GSing. I havent used any of it but its always nice to know

Found these two good tutorials, which might help to a certain extent:
    http://www.ebobminiatures.com/sculpting/faces.htm
    http://www.realcolorwheel.com/human.htm

Human beings are generally about 8 "heads" high, proportion-wise. In your case, you're sculpting backwards, which will probably make things easier for you - you're not doing a whole figure, you're just going to divide the height of the current body (minus the head) by 7 - that's the appropriate height of the head that should be on it. The eyes/pupils on a person are generally located at half the height of the head. Pretty much everything on a person is proportional to a 1/3rd's, 2/3rd's or full-size degree relative to whatever part you're drawing, but there's too many relative proportions that it's probably best just to follow something like the breakdown in the 2nd link I posted above.

I think with all the crazy stuff you've done so far, sculpting a head should definitely be within your reach. So long as you've got the sizes right as relative to each other - you can always cut/file GS back a bit if you've put on too much and you can always carefully add more if some of the features aren't defined enough. I mean, you're creating a monster, so who cares if it looks a little "off" (appearance-wise, not sculpting-wise).

Well, a crazy head, certainly Normal ones may take me a little longer to get the hang of...

    * that was an ironic "hah!", not a triumphal 'take that, you scurvy dogs!' kind of "hah!" or a maniacal 'soon my Destructo-Ray will annihilate Gotham City!' kind of "hah!". Just in case you were, y'know, wondering.

To start with, this is an amazingly one of a kind, very unique and differently, that stands out from everything else very unique special made Chaos Space Marines Nurgle Army I´ve seen through the years.
But the thing that kind of kicks me when looking through your army is that, why does all the models that you have made such a dry look on the guts, intestines, tentacles and such?Aren´t tentacles and the rest supposed to have a bit of slimy, gory look? You should go over with some ink/gloss varnish on these parts.

And then there is the latest Nurgle Deamon Prince. Is´nt he a Deamon Prince? He´s big, anyway.
Anyway, don´t see why you would not keep that huge left arm,it´s Nurgle damnit, they´re supposed to have such mutations!
Perhaps you could greenstuff a bit thicker one with some open wounds & puss and maybe a couple of Papa Nurgle´s own cute little critters sitting/snacking on his arm?

Got a bunch of the skin added today (although time was once again in vanishingly short supply - I seem to be tired most of the time and am sleeping far more than I would ideally want to right now, I have too much to do to be wasting time asleep) and that's looking nice. I also managed to get some basic layering started on the head, and while checking the positioning for the arm and in the process considering how to make the hand I had a brainwave - this Possessed hand works really nicely as his left hand, not least because the ornate detail on it goes very well with the Terminator Lord armour's own detail. I think we have a winner, hand-wise...I may or may not add GS'd fingers to it, not sure yet; I'll see how it looks when it's attached to the arm and positioned on the model.

And while I realise this is also not exactly what was in the original sketch, unlike the Huge Monster Hand Of Doom this one is in proportion to the rest of the model and also has detail that makes it match pretty much perfectly with everything else - not least with the upcoming role of the model as one of my entries for the painting competition in mind.

Isn't he a Daemon Prince? He's big, anyway.
Nope, he's a Possessed; they're big, too Trust me - there'll be no mistaking my Daemon Prince when he's done. I suspect shares in Green Stuff manufacturers will have gone up by the time I'm finished with the bugger if the sketches I'm coming out with are anything to go by...

EDIT: I forgot to add, there's now a feature on my army at the Warhammer World website

Here's where he's at so far (try to ignore the blu-tack ):

I really like the Possessed hand, it fits just right with the body-armour detail to my eyes and is about the right size. Another touch I like is the Nurgle icon on the left kneepad; I decided to keep the mouth from the gargoyle-esque detail that was there, so that instead of just being another random tri-circle Nurgle icon it's now a stylised Great Unclean One head where there used to be the stylised head of a generic Chaos gargoyle I'm already starting to think this guy has the potential to look pretty nifty when painted up...

Some detail shots of the green-stuff work:

I'm pleased with how the green stuff bits are looking; IMHO it really does now look like torn flesh with innards visible through them. I'm really getting into doing this 'torn skin' green stuff effect now, I reckon it could be nifty on some non-Possessed Terminators too. Now my mission for the rest of tonight (zomg! A night when I'm not in bloody work for once!) is to get most of the work on the head done...and, if I'm really lucky, get the limbs attached properly...

    *wibble*

Teeth, tongue and cheeks added, also limbs glued on and textured skin stretched over the right shoulderpad...

Here's how he looks altogether right now:

...starting to get there, I think; next step is to blend in the arms properly with GS work and also do the flesh around the eye and the horns.

Looking fantastic! Don't forget that weapon arm now.

Fear him for his speed at striking, the clenching strength of his coils,

And for anyone who's not following the conversion competition thread, here's the finished Possessed conversion:

    More angles:

Looking at it in the cold & snowy (yay! ) light of day, I'm really pleased with how he's come out. I was planning to add more detail to the weapon, but ran out of time; however looking at it now I think having the weapon relatively plain focuses the attention more on all the detail of the Possessed itself, and having a super-detailed weapon on top of everything else might be a bit much overall. Also, while I'm sure I'll do better Plaguebearer-type heads in the coming months I'm still pleased with this as my first attempt at scratch-building a head. OK, so I used a Spawn eyeball, but
