Damn...sorry to hear that, KFJ.
when did you give him that ogre foot? looks weird, but in a good an grotesque way
"For thousands of years we've waited in the dark, but now is the time to awaken and take what is rightfully ours" Unknown Phaeron transcript intercepted by Inquisitor Gabriel Khain
"when did you give him that ogre foot?"
Around the time I realised he didn't stand up by himself...also I just thought it looked cool.
Speaking of Ogres...here's a first look at my next mad conversion idea. Ladies and gentlemen...allow me to present: The Terminogre!
He's...er...fat. Or maybe phat, I'm not entirely sure yet. Here's how big he is already compared to one of my normal Plague Terminators:
The idea is to make it look like someone took an Ogre and just about managed to squeeze him into some Terminator armour. I still need to GS in his arms, but I thought he was already starting to look promising...
He'll be back![]()
I had the same idea for my orge kingdom figures
Wahaaay the grand unveiling. Nice work again Svart, I especially like the use of the terminator shoulder pad to act as a gut plate, that’s a nice touch. Very intrigued to see how this guy pans out, what weapon(s) will you give him?
posting from work
Currently I'm thinking some kind of baroque custom chainfist and a big storm bolter...have wondered about some kind of custom LC pair though. Really looking forward to GSing the Nurgly bits on this dude![]()
I would go for some thing more brutal, i know a big chainfist is brutal enough. But i mean he's a big guy and needs some thing chunky to smash things up with.
You can blame The Return Of The King for this suggestion. Imagine having him (dual?) wield this ...

Hmm...see, now I'm thinking along the lines of a two-handed power weapon, a triple-spiked-ball flail![]()
I'd wondered about making one before for my Sorceror's force weapon, but it'd suit this guy perfectly. However, he's kind of a trial run - if he comes out OK, I plan to make a Terminogre Lord; so I might give Mooby (think about it) standardish wargear, and then go nuts for the Lord.
EDIT: thinking about it, I'm probably going to stick with my original plan for this guy and go the custom-chainfist-and-storm-bolter route with him. If he comes out like I hope he does, then the ensuing Terminogre Lord will get the mad custom 2H flail
Hmm...I could combine the two plans and give him a one-handed flail and storm bolter, but then I do love my chainfists...argh...decisions, decisions...

Dude your marines and terminators look like they could beat the living s*** out of anything.
posting from work
That's kind of the idea...
Plus, bonus points for the Flogging Molly reference.
my only concern on the terminogre is his legs? could you bulk those up a bit? he looks like a fat guy with atlethic legs
as for the weaponry what about the standard fistdaggers that comes in the ogre kingdom box? with some conversion ofc
"he looks like a fat guy with atlethic legs"
Yep, right now he does - the legs are going to get a lot of GS flab all over them though, there's tons of GS work to do on this guy yet; all I was really doing was showing the first stage of him to get the idea across. I'm going to be mainly adding flab and swollen tumours (you can already see some of these around his neck) on him, GS-wise, not the coral/stretched-tissue textures I've used on the other Terminators; I'm intending for Mooby to look particularly fat and bloated.
"...what about the standard fistdaggers..."
I wondered about the Ogre fistdaggers, and blue-tacked a pair on to see how they looked but it was more WFB Ogre-y than I wanted, even allowing for adding power cables etc; I wanted his weapons to be held in Terminator gloves as he looked a bit too medieval otherwise. The plan is to have the combination of Terminator shoulderpads and gloves with muscle-bound Ogre arms between them, which I think will look good.

I got a whole bunch of the Terminators primed and basecoated yesterday, along with damn near finishing the green-stuff work on Pustule the Pygmy Plague Terminator Of DoomTM...and something dawned on me about my Terminator Champion; much like with the realisation that I can now do much better Plague Marines than the ones I started out with, I realised I can make him better than he currently is.
EDIT: he's Catachan Green now, but I don't have a shot of that at the moment...waiting until all the Terminators are drybrushed at least before I take more pics of them now.
Whilst I really like the 'coral' GS work on him, once I saw it painted it stood out as not really bloated and Nurgly enough next to the other guys with just the coral on him, especially with all the tumours and stuff I've been doing on the latest ones. So, I'm going to add a few tumours, goitres and bits nestled in between the existing sections of coral - not so much covering that up, but more a case of adding rounded lines to the look of the model to make it feel fatter and more bloated and Nurgly. Currently I think he looks plenty mean, but a bit too lean.

Okay, been hard to find time to do stuff in the last week or so, but tonight I finally managed to get all of the Terminators completely drybrushed. Doing 28 stages of all-over drybrushing at once was kind of a pain, but it's nice to be able to see all the green-stuff work blending in with the models' own details at long last.
I'm hoping to get the skin and metals done on all of them in the next few days, using the 'Ganglia' Terminator I did for Azeek's competition as a template for the colour scheme overall but with slight variations in the inkwashes (a little more yellow here, a little more green or purple there etc.) to give a little visual variety, as though each individual Terminator's diseases have a slightly different kind of sickliness to them...
I've also made some more progress on the Terminogre, but not enough to be worth a photo yet; and also begun work on a fairly extreme Possessed Terminogre conversion (inspired in equal amounts by 'Hellraiser' and the Beatles' 'Yellow Submarine' movie) that could be very fun if it comes out right. More, as they say, when I have it![]()
*sigh* This is getting out of hand. I mean come on. Insane green stuff skills and some good drybrushing. Dude u got severely beaten with the miniature painting stick when you where born. Wow. You should send in the finished pics to White Dwarf. They do that army showcase thing sometimes? I seriously think you should have a shot at it.

Well, this is the final colour scheme I'm going to be going with (with the slight variations mentioned above) on them...
I also got the Possessed Terminator primed today so painting will be commencing on him as well tonight when I get back from work![]()
that is such a good terminator - drools...
im jealous - but as soon as i get my car im going to have to go warhammer world and kick there ass![]()
Very nice. My first thought was "That's badass".They almost make me want to turn to chaos. So yeah, good job.![]()
as good as they are

See, I had some people in the competition-entry thread saying they thought it was too monotonous and I should stick a bunch of red on the model...I can't win.
In the end I have to go with my own instinct on when the colour balance is right, and where this is now looks about right to me...

fair enough
it just seems to my eyes that they are drawn to them when they should be oggling the entire model
O.O Have they even seen a death guard or read fluff? Do they even know what a death guard is? I think they're getting confused with world eaters, no death guard army bears red except on their bolters, ignore them, they have no idea about what chaos will do to them, ignorance is not an excuse MUWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! ahem...and I should stick a bunch of red on the model
Chaos Scores:
Wins:7/Draws: 2/Losses: 3
Tau Scores:

it's not a painted color on the armor, but an abnormality which grows out through the armor and therefor it could be any color ^^
but I think svart can make his own mind(Paint them yellow
)

I actually printed out a sludgy green background I found and took a pic of one of them in front of that, and it looked pretty cool IMHO, like seeing a Plague Marine in his natural environment or something...
Thyre ganglia, theyre meant to stick out.the ganglia thingies...they stick out too much
i would agree that they look like theyre missing...something

Fantastic looking models, can't wait for an army shot. However, I still can't help but feel like the terminators need a little more colour, even if a drab one on the outlines of the armour.
Maybe something like "The Purge" and "Deathguard" terminators in the link below:

By the manner of their death we shall know them
I tend to agree that the colour is a little monotonous. I think people just want to see your minis being done justice in the painting department.
Take a look at this link:
Games Workshop - Death Guard Terminator Mini
See the different colours, the edges around the shoulder pads and knee pads, are currently green, perhaps some mithril silver mix but lower the tone with some black, after all you don't want it looking too shiny.

AshaD - while I'm all too aware of my newness to the hobby, I'd say that one you posted a link to is (IMHO) not actually a particularly great Death Guard. It's basically one drab green all over with a darker green line on the inside edges of the armour (look at the back of the right leg) and some corroded metal on the edges of the armour in places; if you look at that and my one side by side...
...I really think mine is at least as interesting, visually, as the one from the GW site. It's darker-hued overall, sure, but that isnt in itself a bad thing. Also the red eyes on the armour's decorative bits do not (IMHO again) suit a Death Guard at all - even pre-Heresy, the DG didn't care about decoration or ornamentation, and after pledging themselves to Nurgle they would have been even less likely to adorn their armour with extra colours or even care about the ones that were already on it.
In the end I have to go with my own judgement on how I want my guys to look; I totally respect other peoples' opinions - after all almost everyone here has more experience than me - and I really enjoy debating stuff like this with people, but in the end I have to make the call. Believe me, I've spent a lot of time working out what colour scheme I wanted to go with for the army...this isn't something I just threw on randomly, it's the end result of much thinking. To my mind, the Death Guard just don't care how their armour looks, or how corrupted their bodies become - they keep their wargear functional and don't worry about the rest. I can't see any of the original Legion colours surviving ten thousand years of war and corruption, and I can't see these guys adding new colours. Just about any other Traitor Legion, maybe - but not the Plague Marines.
JunkyMonkey - that Purge you posted a link to is better than the overly plain ones in the CSM codex, but even so it's too orthodox to appeal to me. It looks more like a green-and-metal-coloured 'normal' Chaos Terminator than a corrupted, bilious plaguewielder of the Lord Of Decay. Again, that's purely my own opinion; if others like them, great, but that look doesn't do it for me and it's not how I want my guys to look or feel.
I'm happy with this look...
...but even when I'm disagreeing with it, it's still great to see feedback from people![]()

Put Trinny and Susanna in the same room as this guy, watch as the great death guard terminator breaks down on the floor, revs up his chainfist and draws the curtans, which are summarily splattered with green ooze that can only be indentified as the blood of trinny, the moral of the story - Never tell a plague marine what to wear... also, never let the death guard break down on the floor, bad things will happen...
"...bad things will happen"
Actually, I'd say the chainfist execution of those two is a good thing. And a mental image I will treasure![]()
I'm not saying that the colours your using are wrong or that your not a good painter. Far from it, GW seems to be full of dreadful painters from what I've heard, but I just feel like the trim on the shoulder pads could use some colour to break up the green thats all.

Don't worry, I wasn't taking it as a shot at my painting abilities, such as they may be; it's just an aesthetic difference of opinion, basically. Trust me - I'll do the loudest Noise Marines ever seen when I get around to a Slaaneshi army.
Meh.
Tabletop gaming would be very boring if we all liked the same colour schemes![]()
i agree with Ashad
a different trim would help complete the mini
i think its one of the reasons so much attention is drawn to the ganglia
gold on the trim i think would complete the mini
and i definitely think youve got the "stuff'" to work for GW
Work at GW? Svart? Must be joking... He doesn't deserve to work at GW, just look at his painting skills and modelling for goodness sakes. No, he deserves to work on his own, making his millions by accepting offers from GW to paint their mini's and model them to look awesome, win tons of golden demons etc. etc. and become to worlds greatestest (two est's!) painter and modeler of nurgle, even great father nurgle would pay his weight in cash for Svart to model his death guard legions (and believe me, that must be a lot, weight of boils and buboes included in the price of course).

*blushes*
Started work on the Possessed Terminogre (the 'Hellraiser' meets 'Yellow Submarine' one) in earnest now, I'll be doing more on it when I get back from work tonight and hopefully will have some early WIP shots of it tomorrow...it may be my most ambitious green stuff work to date, not 100% sure I can pull it off yet![]()
are your terminogres going to be termies or perhaps obliterators?
can't excactly agree that it's dificult to drybrush a figure, but what they do at Gw is far more dificult.. shading and doing NMM that's what a good painter does...
Svarts GS abilities is insane though.. I think his painting abilities will progress nicely

"Are your terminogres going to be termies or perhaps obliterators?"
They'll count as Terminators; Possessed Terminogres will count as Possessed, usually.
Looks great so far! Can't wait to see some full army pictures.
What do you plan to do for the bases (I don't think anyone asked that yet)? A rough giger-esque brownish red texture would be fairly fast, fit well with the disease theme, and provide a good counterpoint to the green marines.
What may man within him hide, though angel on the outward side
The ganglia dude does look kinda monotonuous(), add some detail, some rust here and there, some holes or flesh, the shoulder pad could use a different colored trim.
This might be heretic talking out of me but he kinda looks too clean![]()
*puppies*
Jopax, your icon is making me want to make a pygmy World Eater![]()
Hmm. Been thinking about this. The only colour I can see working on the shoulderpads for me would be the same deep bronze metallic colour I've used on the skulls, I could maybe blag having bronze shoulderpad trim as the Pandemic warband's insignia or something. I might try that on one of them and see how it turns out; not sure how I'd weather bronze so it matches the rest of the armour though.
EDIT: Anyone got any suggestions for weathering bronze-coloured metals...?

I'd wash a little watered down Scaly Green or Scaly and Hawk Turquoise mix into the recesses.EDIT: Anyone got any suggestions for weathering bronze-coloured metals...?
Well, I took the Terminator who seems to've become my paint test model, and painted his shoulder trim with Tin Bitz...
Hmm. I'm not convinced - I think it has too much contrast, although this may be because it's on a model without all the inkwashing and extra paintwork involved in the completed colour scheme, like the 'Ganglia' Terminator has had.
I'll put them side by side and stare at them for a bit, see if it grows on me.
-----
And here's a first look at the Possessed Terminogre conversion I mentioned...inspired in roughly equal amounts by the torso on the Possessed sprue with the interlocking teeth on it, the 'Butterball' Cenobite from 'Hellraiser' and the Blue Meanie with the mouth in its belly from the Beatles 'Yellow Submarine' animated film, here he is in his early stages:
The cavity in the Ogre model's body lends itself perfectly to being used in this way; I green-stuffed the inside to look like flesh, then painted it with Chaos Black, watered-down Blood Red and a wash of Chestnut ink. It actually looks really gross in the flesh, you can see there's a glistening, dark-meat-coloured hole behind the teeth. Obviously lots of work still to do, but I think he's starting to look promising, and could actually turn into one of my best/favourite conversions yet

I can already imagine his face, a screaming lunatic driven mad by the pain of the mutation charging his enemys![]()
i think the tin bits would look good for the champion ganglia guy, not on all of the termies tho
Totally reminds me of The Thing.
Great job
Itll be awesome painted. What are your plans for the rest of the body?
