Fun article. It confirms what I've been saying for awhile now. You didn't really think that a shitload of people in Iraq just arbitrarily hated us, did you?
This article highlights something that should be common sense: people don't hate us for no damn reason. Whether that reason is justified or not, they have one. US intervention in the middle east fueled the rise of Al Qaeda and other anti-US groups. All we're doing in Iraq is adding more fuel to the fire.
Think about it: what does bin Laden want? Bin Laden doesn't give two shits if Joe Arab in Iraq dies. What bin Laden wants is support among the Arabs. Bin Laden wants lots and lots of Arabs to get pissed off at the US.
Now, are we REALLY hindering him? Invading a sovereign nation, blowing up civilians (whether it's justified collateral damage or not, you can't argue that many HAVE died during our occupation) or just forcing a change in their government, we have added truth to bin Laden's words. The more we intervene, the more Arabs hate the US.
Before someone jumps in and claims that I support not fighting terrorists, I do support attacking people that ACTUALLY ATTACK US. I am fully behind kicking the shit out of a nation or group that attacks us. However, that's not what we've been doing.
