    How to counter mines

Can somebody tell me how to remove mines in the heat of the battle? I has a strike group consistent of fighters, vettes and a couple of frigs and attacked the enemy resource ops when I received the message that my strike group was in a minefield. The frigs died really fast. How am I supposed to remove those mines if units are in the same area in the meanwhile? I just felt like I cannot attack my enemy's position.

Minelayer Corvettes are also Minesweeper Corvettes.

Do they shoot at them to kill them or do they have to go very close to disable them?

I don't know, but I can tell you that this is important to figure out - even a BC can take considerable damage from exiting HS in a well-placed minefield.

When attackign a mine defended area then perhaps taking your own minelayer along as a vanguard would be sensible.

And make sure to check out the area you're going to. Mines are not invisible.

Minelayers sweep mines by shooting them. You just have to position the layer in/near the field and after a few seconds it will start targetting mines. There is no command or action to start this behavior, it does it automatically.

From what I've heard in SP, strike craft (fighters/'vettes) may also sweep fields as well. I haven't tested this myself yet though. You can try parking a wing of gunships in the field and leave them for a sec and see if they start targetting the mines.

that sort of is an ineffective way to remove mines in the heat of battle, any stike craft standing still will get killed. can you "force fire" the mines like in the original HW?
