Historical Skin Mod (v1.0) - 2.62 Compliant

  1. #501
    luciferum, can your mod modify the Commandos so they are replaced by the ones with helmets? This would tip your skin mod into absolute excellency!

    The Hetzer in post 391 looks effing awesome, the best skin I have seen in CoH so far. Keep up the good work!

    Safetycatch, that's the colour of the webbing before blanco is applied, and blanco was systematically applied.
    Olive green was just one of several shades of blanco used, but from what I read it appears to have been the most common one amongst british troops in Normandy in 1944. (please read all those posts we made about the colour of British uniforms and equipment before replying again).

    Apologies Don, I was speaking from my own experiences of seeing reenactments and kit for sale and such. You seem to know your stuff, but I was just voicing my opinion not trying to correct anybody.

    Actually everyone is kinda right, Khaki was the default colour, and it was used at least a little everywhere for the whole of the war, but from around '43 onwards the Brits applied Blanco (OD Green being be most common as Don said), and by mid-late '44 it was more common than the khaki.

    Good to see the Bren carrier and Tetrach, Luciferum, can't wait for the rest of the Brit vehicles and infantry! But what happened to the King Tiger? *cries*

    (modding CoH causes very dangerous emonitional imbalances)

  5. #505
    The Bren Carrier skin previously shown is avaible for download on HSM web site (downlad/stand alone skins).
    Enjoy it !

    Took a look at your Waffen-SS Pioneer, and i'm really impressed! The only downside to it is the black lines around the goggles and headphones you removed. You might be able to get rid of them if you remove more of the black background where those parts of the texture used to be, it worked for me mostly.

  7. #507
    Thanks I should try this. Fortunatly, the black lines are almost invisible except at maximum zoom.
    I will try to fix it.

    When talking about the SS-Pionier: Any chance to see more infantry skins from you, luciferum?

  9. #509
    Of course there will be more infantery skin but I'm really busy right now... so you will have to wait a bit more...

    Nice to hear.
    Already some plans? Or even too busy for that?

  11. #511
    @Gasterdner:
    plans are : finish to release what I announced previously: Tetrach, updated Tommy, Nebelwerfer in a full pack called 0.36 including also all previously released as stand alone.
    Next step will probably be :
    - Stuart from 7th Ard Div.... I hate the genuine Stuart
    and a special variation: US Stuart made for Lethal Dosage mod.
    Then probably, Volksgrenadier and new brit. leutnant... erasing his stupid necktie...
    ***
    I forgot, I made some tuning on "wehrmacht" Sdkfz 251... lowering brown colour and adding Frundsberg division markings. Here is a preview:

  12. #512
    That halftrack is looking nice. Have you also modified the canvas cap a bit?
    "Not a day goes by, that I don't think of the men I served with, who never got to enjoy the world without war." Major Richard Dick Winters.

  13. #513
    Actually the colour of the canvas has been a bit dessaturated and I've darkened the .gls to make it less shining. So, it's still using a como pattern like inspired with splinter A. I know I've no real evidence for it's use on Canvas on HT but I guess this cloth could have been use locally to make HT canvas. Anyway, I have no informations on real colour of those canvas...
    Actually I even thought to try to remove it as most HT, esecially during summer had no canvas.

    I would leave the canvas as it is, maybe the pattern could be a bit bigger, but that's all.
    Even when there's ne evidence of the use of such a canvas, it definatly looks better than an empty Halftrack from that suddenly units popp out...besides this, this skin is really wonderful! Finally some more yellow colour.

  15. #515
    I can't find anything about it either. Maybe you can try this colour:
    http://www.sbmodels.net/images/New_F...ges/RM376a.jpg
    Thats the only canvas cover i've seen.

  16. #516
    The problem is that the interior of the Halftrack is next to non existent which is why removing the canvas isn't viable...not to mention how bad it looks once you've upgraded it with flamers....
    R.I.P MrScruff-A very talented and valued friend who is sorely missed

  17. #517
    Ok so bad for removing canvas... Thanks for the pic Monkey but that's just a model kit... we could guess the guy who painted it had some documentation... or it was too hard to paint a camo pattern... lol

  18. #518
    Yeah. I couldn't find anything except that. Very weird. :/

  19. #519

    :/ The thing is supposed to be moving. Why do you even look at such very small things? I think you're the first one to notice. But don't they look good enough already?

  21. #521
    @Masaka:
    I'm not sure to get what you want me to do (not native english speaker )...
    My wheels-side are quite dark-grey already ? You want them in black?
    Guess when wheel-sides are getting used a bit they're covered with dust atleast so they don't look deep black... Could you detail your idea...

    I could translate one of your texts, if it should be necessary.

    Sollte es nötig sein, könnte ich einen Text von dir auch mal übersetzen.

    @Masaka: Ok... I see what you mean.... Sorry my german's too rusted... Shame on me, I lived in Germany for 6 years.
    The problem don't come from the .gls file not the .dif... that means some parts of the model becomes too bright or shining under some lights. If you edit the .dif, you'll see the colour of the wheels-side almost black already.
    I will try to find few minutes to fix it this week end.

    Hallo Gastredner, ich dacht schon ich wäre hier der einzige Deutsche
    Ne, so selten gibt es uns dann auch wieder nicht.
    Eine kleine Verbesserung, wenn du erlaubst: "Germany" heißt Deutschland, "German" wäre die deutsche Sprache(oder ein Deutscher, oder etwas deutsches).

    Germany = Deutschland
    German, the german language = Deutsch, die deutsche Sprache
    a German, the Germans = ein Deutscher, die Deutschen
    Jaja, ich weiß, ich bin ein Besserwisser...

    @luciferum: 6 years in Germany? I hope you enjoyed it.

    Wirblewind update released

    An update of the Wirblewind has been published on my web site (download/stand alone skins).
    Modifications are : Wheel sides darkened and shining effect reduced for the whole skin.
    This skin will be include in the coming release of HSL v0.36.

    The Stuart is also nearly finished....

    @ MAsaka:
    I haven't tested the result of skin changes for the wirblewind. A screenshot of it in game would be welcome... I do really lack of free time those days...

  30. #530
    @luciferum

    Great Wirbelwind!

    Question: Where are the Turret Numbers on the Axis Tanks? No one have red/white numbers. But its more realistic with numbers. ^^

  33. #533
    I'm looking forawrd to the stuart skins, will one be the british and one be u.s? Or do u only have one skin being made right now?

  34. #534
    @Steve6972:
    I'm working one a Brit Stuart skin with markings of the 7th armoured division... I will then propose a variant as stand alone with US colour and markings. This one is made to answer to a demand I received.

    @Franky235:
    Markings numbers are a real technical problem.
    But first, in 1944 and after, not all vehicles had numbers... so that's not a realistical problem.
    The technical problem is: do I keep the marking skins from relic? I tend to say no because they are quite ugly. Then I set them to transparent. The markings on my skin are directly painted on the skin itself. The problem is many turret or hull sides are skinned with mirroring of the skin template, so if I paint numbers they appear mirrored on on side.

  35. #535
    It is annoying that most vehicles(if not all) have mirrored sides so using any number other than '101' is not really possible. This wasn't a problem for relic as they simply defined team colour areas so numbers appear correctly on a model(along with the other crap...). It's a shame that we don't know how to re-define TMC areas on a model as that would make our skinning life very easy...

  36. #536
    Great Skins, I love your work.

    But the panzerelite halftrack skins a bit to shiny. ^^

  37. #537
    I was wondering if i could also get the allied version of the stuart? i'm just looking for allied skins right now, and i added the stuart to the motorpool.

  38. #538
    I need your help.I couldn't download the mod.I don't know why.

  39. #539
    describe youre problem

  40. #540
    @Steve6972:
    I'll do my best to release the Stuarts ASAP but my priority 1 is for the brit one.

    @jkes:
    I checked if DL worked right now and all seems ok. Any other person having this problem?
    My web server may have be down for a while today? I don't know....

    @nizz:
    I do agree. This PE HT skin needs to be desaturated a bit and to be less shiny... An update will come, be patient.

    Still not download the...
    Please send the mod to my email:milan.jacky@hotmail.com

    Try to DL from another computer...

  43. #543
    Very nice

    oh damn.. my english is very bad.. how can i discribe it... hmm i try it:

  47. #547
    The Stuart is not avaible yet for DL... Nizz was right, it still needs some markings like square or triangle on turret side.

    Is there a chance of just getting the british bren and rifleman skin on there own. Because I use Doctor Lee's German skins and I'm only looking for a new British riflemans skin, but the bren looks amazing too so I would like to know if I can get just those two and how?

  49. #549
    The bren is already avaible for download in the stand alone part of my web site, download section.
    The Tommy will be avaible for DL as stand alone when I'll have finished to change to shoulder patch to 7th armd div.
