    Issue connecting with players?

    Well I have issues connected to players when I try to join a game hosted by my friend and vice versea.

    He (and me) opened up ports 6112 9100 and 32060.
    I know the servers are down for now but like before we had the issue where me or him would have an X under the ping in the server we are trying to join, I read that it means that I cannot connect to that server, but how do we fix this problem?!?!?

    Is there any way to fix it?

    Extra Info:
    He lives in Canada and I'm in NYC
    I have both games he only has opposing fronts (yes I have switched the teams to be accepted by Oppsing Fronts, like the Panzer Elite and British)
    He could play with other people and so could I.

    Most concerned issue:
    We want to play together but we can't connect to players when either of us host a game... Any way to fix this? Should we try to reinstall our games?

    Reinstalling's not needed.

    Router info from both of you would be helpful, along with a warnings.log file from both of you after you try and connect to each other's games.

    Well I have a Zonet ZSR1114WE

    He has a Linksys, not sure which one.

    How do I find a warning.log file?
    Is It the warning-Text Document file I find when I go to
    My games/Company Of Heroes ?
    Becuase I don't see a directory file :\
    Here's what it said in that warning file though (my warning file; it's my attachment)

    More and more this points to Quazal's NAT transversal servers not working.

    Not sure you can do anything to fix it (aside from not using a router at all).

    So are you saying that we can't play CoH together at all? :'(
    Are you sure that it's that issue? Like we play games such as Counterstrike:Source together with no issues (I know it has almost no connection to this game but just brought it up).
    So nothing at all can be done? Reinstalling maybe? Anything?

    FPS games are first person shooters, RTS games are peer to peer. Normally needing connections to all players in the game. That's why you see the game attempting to connect to all the players.

    Some routers have more strict NAT types that can't connect to other routers. Quazal has a NAT transversal solution that I believe helped out in this situation, the server would help the connection go through. However, I think the game code is not reporting that a NAT exists, thus the NAT transversal service is not helping.

    When do you presume that bug will be fixed?
    Is there a way I can turn off my NAT transversal from like my Broadband Router Status? (That's where it leads me when I type in my Defualt Gateway into the address bar.)

    I don't know if this changes anything but...
    Those names:
    name=geniusslo
    name=iiooii

    They aren't who I was trying to connect to;
    ItalianStallion was actually my friend who I was trying to connect to, who is the problem. I don't really understand why I can connect to other players and yet not him? Is it maybe his issue?

    oh i have been tearing my skin off with this problem. i feel your pain buddy i do. From what i understand, CoH is peer 2 peer. so theres not really a central server handling connections. so the issue should be on one of the players sides. be it router / or personel firewall. make sure that if you have a software firewall that those ports are open and not being stealthed/blocked. also check to see if everybody has those routers ports opened.

    The setup that i had a problem with is ... my friends' router only likes letting ONE computer access the needed ports. So if they have two machines trying to get onto my hosted game. The router picks one machine and only that machine can talk to me. the other person will be blocked from logging in. (They will see a red X). I have not tested out the same scenario on my end since its just me by myself. for reference the router that my friends' have is a Linksys WCG200 v2.

    edit: if somebody reads this who knows of a router that can handle multiple CoH connections behind it to the same hosted game please tell us!

    edit: should be noted that linksys does not have firmware updates avail for download for that dang router

    edit: annnd you have another thread ... copy .. paste..

    Looks like Quazal's supposed to provide the NAT info back to the game, and it's not. That might mean that Quazal's not providing the info, or there's some kind of error on quazal's side. I suspect with it not having the NAT info, it's not using NAT transversal, hence why the problem is happening right now.

    Could be either. Does one of you have more problems than the other connecting to games?

    Not sure if this is the correct place but I've been LANing it up for the last couple of days with friends and not one of us has been able to connect to another with CoH:OF 2.201 (the latest current version). As of CoH 1.71 we had no connection issues at all and nothing on our end has changed. One of my friends even went to a large professional LAN cafe and the same issue persists. Players can see the hosted game however when trying to connect we all get the 'Cannot connect to other players' and then drop back to the menu so I am fairly sure on some level Relic has changed something as we were all using the offline component.

    I have huge problems online at home as well but that's old news, the point is over 30 computers have tried CoH-OF over LAN in the last few days and not one has connected to a LAN game while nearly every other mainstream MP game of any genre you could think of has worked properly so it's not just a router/firewall issue but a fundamental communication failure on some level.

    It would be great if the whole connectivity issue were resolved in the not to distant future.

    Is there issues with Linksys or Zonet?
    Do you need something to tell?
    I have fairly little amount of "X"'s
    He has some more.

    Should he buy a new router?
    What do you consider if he does need one?

    He should try without a router first to see how his connections are, that will at least prove it's the router.

    IF quazal's still not reporting the NAT type, it might not matter which router he gets. I had problems with my Linksys with the beta version of CoH OF (before they got the nat stuff sorted out), and it was great after.

    Well, he kind of can't turn off his router because then he can't connect to the internet...
    So...what should he do?
    (same issue with me)
