    Land Raider Terminatus?

    Hello there

With the thread on the new Land Raider Ares Pattern, I heard talk of the Terminatus Pattern Land Raider. I've never heard of it before, or seen it (I knew only of the standard version, the Crusader, the Helios and thanks to LoTW, the Prometheus). Apparently though, it looks awful, and apparently plays awful, but I just wondered if anyone had a picture of one and could tell me in a nutcase, why is it so bad?

    Here you go

I think the general opinion is that they went a little overboard with the lascannons.

Ah I see, well I certainly think the Terminatus looks better than the Ares. I think if they swapped out the single sponson LasCannons for Heavy Bolters or maybe even something plasma based (that'dbe interesting) it would look better than the LasCannon Spam-tank IMHO.

Still, it's fundamentally a one trick pony. Now, I'm a big fan of the las technology but I can't help but snigger every time I look at that thing.

Players that scream FREEEEEEEEM when they fire a lascannon are not allowed to own a terminus.

are they allowed to own guard antitank squads?

They should have introduced an option into the standard Land Raider to change the TL heavy bolters with TL lascannons and a reduced transport capacity for X pts, IMO.

I think the Terminatus is incredibly ugly, like something an Unsupervised Game Store Kid would do to a LR and a pred if left alone, or the product of an incestuous relation between the two aforementioned vehicles.

Why all the hating on the Ares, though? Sure, it suck in-game, but it looks nice.

I think the ares looks cool cos i like vindicators but that is not it right now. The reason they built the land raider terminus is because it is easy to convert, they could not be bothered to be complicated and cos SM need some sort of anti titan and super heavy capasity. The only other thing is the thunderhawks and I am not going to buy one of them.

So in concusion terminus kills super heavys and that is what it was made to do.

You place a land raider on the board and the mech armies laugh at your attempt. You put a land raider terminus with two las-preds on the board and the mech armies die, all in all, made for titan hunting, super heavy destroying, and skimmer smashing, as not even a falcon or fire prism or hammerhead could stand up to 5 las-cannon shots, 3 of which are twin-linked... and I like the look...
    Chaos Scores:
    Wins:7/Draws: 2/Losses: 3

    Tau Scores:
    Wins:5/Draws: 1/Losses: 0

Ideally GW should have given us sponsons with all three lascannons mounted on them, as it is the multiple sponson set-up that I dislike. It doesn't help that conversions with three lascannon per sponson have appeared either, especially considering they look a lot better then the original model.

  13. #13
One day, I'm going to make my own Land Raider. I will put Plasma Cannons in the sponsons, and I will put a roof-mounted Missile Launcher on it. Then, just to be a silly, I will buy it the Havoc Launcher Wargear.

The Land Raider Templatus. Look for it this fall.

Have a whirlwind missile battery on it and call it a battery of hunter killers for 40 points, kraks for 20 points and frags for 10 points.

I demand a Land Raider with turret-mounted long barreled twin linked mega gatling earthshaker cannons.

    And a coax heavy stubber.

Why don't they make a Chaos variant, with 2 twin-linked heavy flamers per side, a reaper autocannon above the doors? Would be awesome in an assault..

You want reaper autocannon sponsons and a multi-melta, or even possibly a complete assault vehicle that comprises of a hull mounted demolisher cannon, side heavy flamer sponsons and a turret mounted multi-melta possibly completely impossible or completely amazing. It should also have an icon on the top as standard so you can beam down some termies or obliterators

  22. #22
We seriously need to do some concept sketches here of our crazed LR/LRC/CLR variants.

    So far:

Land Raider Templatus (Jaimas): A Chaos Land Raider that drops a ton of Templates. Has 2 Plasma Cannons in the Sponsons, a Modified Whirlwind battery, and a Havoc Launcher.

Land Raider Siege (Cassidy): A Land Raider with a trio of Earthshaker guns on the roof turret for fire support. Heavy Stubber Sponsons and a Pintle-Mount round out the lot.

Land Raider Incinerator (Susurrus): A Chaos Land Raider sorting sponson-mounted twin-linked Heavy Flamers, and a turret-mounted twin-linked Autocannon.

  23. #23
    here's one:

land raider panzerjager: a land raider with a hull-mounted twin-linked laser destroyer (check ac rules) and sponson mounted vanquisher cannons. take that, land raider terminus!

Land raider vortex: Armed with spouse twinb linked las cannons and a vortex missile (see apoc) No troop carrying.

It may sound lame till you know what a vortex missile is :P

Land Raider "We've Stolen Xenos Tech": Just replace every lascannon on the terminus with a railcannon. Heh heh heh. But wait, they'd never do that.

Land Raider Purity: Grey Knights Land Raider: 2 Psycannons in each sponson. (For a total of 4) Twin-Linked Assault Cannon over the door. Multi-Melta in turret. total light vehical and horde shredding.

Ah! you beat me too it Gawd, I was going to suggest LRXenos - availible only to the more radical factions of the inquisition:
LR with twin linked pulse laser and reaper launcher sponsons. perfect for killing marines *ahem* chaos marines... I meant... honestly.

Land Raider Storm. 3x TL assault cannons in the sponsons, transport capacity of 10 models.

What do I win, seeing how this is miles better than all the other ideas put together?

Land Raider Abbadon - Twin Linked reaper autocannon sponsons, Turret mounted inferno cannon, hull mounted Demolisher and back extention made for the sole purpose of terminator transportation (capable of transporting 10 Terminators only!). Also an assault vehicle Abbadon would be pleased...

Land Raider Lander - Can deep strike anywhere on the board to represent it being dropped from orbit. Armed with a turret mounted Vulcan Mega Blaster and Hurricane Bolters

  32. #32
I want a lazy man's land raider conversion.

You know how the ares replaced the whole access ramp in the front with a demolisher cannon? Like that but instead of replacing the front they just stuck a demo cannon in the transport bay and bolted it down, then took out the access ramp door.

And it will miraculously still have FA14 by virtue of land-raiderness.

Or we could use the land raider dakkabus (aka land raider "fuck your horde armies")
Vulcan Megabolter (attached in the aforementioned pattern)
    Sponson-mounted hurricane bolters
    Pintle-mounted TL assault cannon

Move that in range of a 'nid horde and watch the lulz.

Or the "blow your load" land raider
    equipped with all one-shot weaponry:
2 racks of tau seeker missiles
    main weapon: vortex missile launcher
as many hunter-killer missiles as you can stick on
and a pintle mounted heavy stubber for after you fire all the weapons off in one turn so you can run it around the table yelling 'SCORING UNIT SCORING UNIT'

Land Raider Randomus (a.k.a Drunkum AdMechus)
Before first turn, after deployment - roll for:

    Main weapon:
1: No main weapon - turbocharged engines
2: TL-Plasma Cannon (gets hot = weapon destroyed)
    3: TL-Lascannons
    4: 2x TL-Autocannon
    5: TL-BattleCannon
6: Your choice of the above

    Sponsons:
    1-2: Hurricane bolters
    3: Heavy flamers
4: Melta guns (may fire as if defensive weaponary)
    5: Lascannons
6: Your choice of the above

    I got another one:

    Land Raider Carrier Ship
    - Skimmer, Fast Vehicle
    - Main weapon: Drone Bay
    - Sponson weapons: 3 twin linked shotguns each side (representing anti-infantry self defence flechette charges)

    Special Rules:
    Drone Bay
May deploy up to d6 gun drones within 2" of the ramp at the beginning of each players turn. The drones fielded each turn form a seperate unit each time.
On the first armament destroyed result on the Drone Bay, the number of drones deployable drones is reduced to d3.
On the second armament destroyed result on the Drone Bay no more drones may be fielded.
However, the LR Carrier Ship may transport multiple units of gun drones previously deployed by itself, up to a total model count of 20 drones (even if the Drone Bay has been destroyed).

    Jettison Ports
When then LR Carrier Ship suffers a vehicle destroyed result on the vehicle damage table, 3d6 gun drones may be deployed. These jettisoned drones form a single unit and may be placed anywhere within 6" of the wreck. Unit coherency must be maintained.
Should the LR Carrier Ship suffer a vehicle explodes result, the drones may be deployed within 12" of the wreck instead, representing the extra momentum the Jettison Ports deliver to the drones due to the explosion's shock wave.

Land Raider Randomus (a.k.a Drunkum AdMechus)
hahahahahahaha that's hilarious...mind if i use that for my sig?

  37. #37
Land Raider Suspensor - LR that has a massive suspensor unit built in with normal sponson options and 4 fire points. The susponsor allows the vehicle to be treated as stationary for firing even after moving.

Pack a dev squad with 4 lascannon/ plasmacannon/ missile launcher/ heavy bolter/ multi-melta or a termie squad with twin assault cannons/ heavy flamer/ cyclone missile launchers and support that with twin linked lascannon or hurrican bolters in the sponsons. If you really want to give people a nosebleed, slap on some exocite missile launchers.:P

    Or

Ork looted Land Raider Grotjecta - Looted LR with ejection seats that propels explosive carrying grots up to 6*D6" from the vehical (roll once at the start of the game and use that number for the rest of the game). Can carry up to 60 grots and launch 3*D6 each shooting phase.

Roll a D6 for each grot ejected. On a roll of 1-2 the grot explodes in mid-air; for 3-4 the grot is treated as a small blast template with an S4 attack against any enemy under it; on a roll of 5+, the grot is killed but treated as a S6 power weapon attack against anything under the small blast template.

Is that orky enough for you green boyz?

    I'd say:
1...explodes before launching, inflicting a glancing hit
    2-3...explodes in mid-air
    4-5...S4 blast
    6...S6 AP2 blast

  39. #39
Is anyone going to even think about taking something that may inflict up to 18 glancing hits on itself a turn? The thing is going to be permentantly shaken/stune if not worse.

Land Raider Useless - Main weapon is a broken twin linked las-cannon, and two faulty plasma cannons which when fired on a roll of 1-6 explode and destroy the Land Raider automatically. A hull mounted demolisher cannon without the large dozer blade and fires dud shells only and has a transport capacity of -10. If there are more than 0 land raider useless's on the field at any given time, any space marines, imperial guard, witch hunters or daemonhunters instantly lose due to the land raiders exploding through mid deployment and ripping the imperium's finest to shreds.

  42. #42
    Land Raider Brokenashellus-

Main (hull) weapon- TL assault cannon
Sponson weapons- 2X TL assault cannons (1 TL asscannon per side)
    Secondary hull weapon- Heavy stubber
Transport capacity- 10 marines (terminators count as 2 marines)

    Land Raider Infernus-

    Main (hull) weapon- Inferno cannon
Sponson weapons- 2X TL heavy flamers (1 per side)
    Secondary hull weapon- meltagun
Transport capacity- 10 marines (terminators count as 2 marines)
Options- May replace the meltagun with a flamer at no extra points cost, and may include up to 2 extra hull mounted flamers or meltaguns at +10 pts each.

All we need now is one that can transport Dreadnoughts.

  45. #45
    ask, and thou shalt recieve:

    land raider carryall:
    2 sponson mounted tl-heavy bolters
    hull mounted tl-heavy bolter

    transport capacity:
    6 dreadnoughts
    4 predators/vindicators/rhinos/razorbacks/whirlwinds

    special rules:
'drop the ramp!' - if the land raider carryall is destroyed, all vehicles in the carryall immediately move 2d6 from the front ramp of the carryall and take one glancing hit.

You stole my Jettison Ports special rule^^

Land Raider Land Raider Carrier (LRLRC)
    Main weapon: TL HB
sponson weapons: 3 twin linked shotguns each side (representing anti-infantry self defence flechette charges) hell I'm becoming fond of these

    transport capacity:
1 Land Raider (or any of the listed LR variants, including the LRLRC)

The carried LR may transport whatever units it is allowed to transport while being carried by the LRLRC.
Also, it may disembark even after the LRLRC moved up to 12", and may move up to its maximal movement range in the turn it disembarked.

    EDIT

LRLRCs may be fielded as Heavy Support and/or Elites choices.
Any LR may buy a LRLRC as dedicated transport.

(I'm aware of what that implies, that's on purpose)

Land raider Randomus, Drunkum AdMechus. Sure to spice up any game!

But really, I like the one with the gobs of flamy goodness. The Infernus, though this one gets no troop capacity, because inferno cannons and ten termies is made of cheese.

I love all things plasma, so the one with the whirlwind and sponson plasma cannons is a definite prospect. God knows how ill get the whirlwind missile launcher on the top of a land raider chassis though.

If I could somehow bring myself to play iron warriors, the first thing I would do is make that nutty gatling earthshaker cannon thingy.

Yeah, those are my faves. Keep the madness coming!
