"Celtic fans right now sit in silence and watch, and hope that the damage doesn't get any worse from this Graham Carey free kick. Away by Wilson. Teale. Still options waiting in the middle for St. Mirren...OH, AND THEY HAVE ANOTHER ONE! It's stunning! It's absolutely stunning at Hampden park! And it's Steven Thompson, who scores his thirteenth goal of the season, and that might just be the goal that takes St. Mirren into the league cup final!" - 27/01/2013

Ah, good show old boy!
You've masterly uncovered our dastardly and devious systematic plan of action.
Now, if you don't mind my discourteousness, I bid you good day.

Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

Wikipedia has got it wrong. The forums were around since time immemorial, we've just had the most posters in 1885. The first posts were crude cave drawings of 'fy-ah' and 'boobs'.

I've been reading into the history of the Relic boards since this came to light. Apparently they were the first outlet used by Henry VIII to express his desire to break with Rome, the King alleging that the Pope was a "n00b". Records stretch back even further- a member using the handle of 'Hannibal' devoted entire sections of the Balance forum to bitching about how the Romans were IMBA.

I think the romans whined hannibal was IMBA more, elephants mountain climbing ability was apparently a bug

Hannibal had a point though, the Romans were totally IMBA. No matter how many of them you killed they always spawned more.

"So, you wonder what this machinery is for, dear friend? It's rather obvious, I fear: This piece of string is attached to a big piece of cheese, as you can see. As the water runs out of this counterweight, the cheese will gently lower itself, until it is at eye's height and within reach of the rat in the wheel. The animal, half starved as it is, will take bites from the cheese, thus moving the wheel and pulling the pin from that clockwork there and that bridge over here. The ball, free to move now, will roll down there while the clockwork starts to wind up. As the ball finally lands on this platform, it will trigger the button on the end and loosen the spring underneath the platform, be propelled upwards and hit the magnifying glass, turning it exactly 45 degrees. The concentrated beam of light will now light the candle, and that little flame, hungrily eating through the rope holding you above the piranha basin, will end our little dispute. But I have other affairs to tend to. I trust we won't be seeing each other again."

Bets on how long that will stay up?
I bet £1 for 2 days.
I wonder if the creation of the forums had anything to do with the publishing of Good Housekeeping?

Oi you, darkelf! Aren't you supposed to be overtaken by the wave of pan-scandinavian supernationalism sweeping across your way about now? I thought we agreed our king was better!
Oh, and apparently Lord Squiddenton Seabottom has been replaced by Guybrush Threepwood. In addition, all discussion of bears and what they are being brought have been suspended in favour of debating the awesomeness of pirates.
Maybe you agreed your king was better, but I certainly didn't! I'll fight till the day I die or we get our own king, whichever comes first!
By the way, you wouldn't happen to have seen Ibsen's latest play, would you? The Wild Duck? Quite fascinating I assure you.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Reki, that is AWESOME. Am trying to think of some other humourous way to alter it but coming up short...
#94
what? humorous alterations? sir, that is an historical document.
#95
So you say this series of tubes is a forum for the discussion of relics? Capital idea! You know, I've become quite convinced the Shroud of Turin is a fraud? Also, tell it to ask if anyone has any information on where that spear has got to?
And to that cad who dared proclaim Oscar II the best monarch available for my great nation; for shame! We can do better than your French bootlick any day!

Forgive my slip of the tongue, Master Reki, 't'was but a wit! Rather, what I meant to say was that I desire to make further additions to this most venerable of documents in the pursuit of scholarly accuracy and the wisdom brought by knowledge and understanding of the past.
#97
jolly good show! It seems that those Wikipedia fiends were not as approving of my pursuit of scholarly accuracy and the wisdom brought by knowledge and understanding of the past, however.

'Tis an outrage! Sir Starbladesworth the Third shall not stand for this! Instead I shall sit down. Mmm yes, indeed I shall.
The Picture is gone! Oh raddle fiddles. Bah!
Anyway how long do you think it will stay there before the Dictatorship Admins of Wiki notice it.
P.s- Best thread ever. Deserves to be archived.
