I can confirm this I had to spend about 3 mins trying to place my HQ truck, because for some reason or another I couldn't put it in the spot I wanted (no other trucks onthe field).

Has the bug where enemy forces can build on the British starting HQ setor after they have captured it been reported yet? I tested this out last night and it is quite funny. You can literally build yourself 2 bases C&C style.

IIRC it's even posted with a screenshot of it.

Just a note about the bug list, we're moving to a voting system just for balance suggestions only. I quote from the wiki:

"WE ARE MOVING TO A VOTING SYSTEM FOR BALANCE SUGGESTIONS. IF YOU LIKE A SUGGESTION PUT A 'Y' BESIDE IT. IF YOU DON'T LIKE A SUGGESTION, PUT A 'N' BESIDE IT. SUGGESTIONS WITH A HIGH NUMBER OF 'N's BESIDE THEM (5+?) WILL BE DELETED AND MOVED INTO THE DISCUSSION TAB. THIS WILL HELP US HIGHLIGHT THE MAJOR COMMUNITY ISSUES."

    Hope that helps

^ I don't think so, however every change is tracked in the history so it will be recorded.

Also I think a ratio of N's to Y's would be better than a fixed number of N's.

    That's a good idea.

  9. #109
What's the idea behind this? The majority shouldn't decide balance. The majority are blubbering idiots. Haven't you guys seen real democracy in action (inaction)?

Biased players of all sorts will taint the system and shoot down good suggestions.

If the majority wants to influence balance in any way, they'll have to actually play the Beta.

The idea would be to reduce the number of balance issues to a core few that the community can agree on. The Relic team will always have the final say anyway.

You would hope that only those playing the beta are posting.

Yup, the balance team and designers will make the ultimate decisions but this just helps us pinpoint the ones that are the most important to the community at large to investigate more (we will still go read forum threads on those particular issues, etc.)

That's support for you people! I really despise ass kissers but for Relic...Mmmmwah! The support Relics gives its community really puts to shame other RTS companies out there... You know who I'm talking about....

Added a bug comment to 3.12 or 13, about the 57mm having 8.7% penetration chance against Jagdpanther, and how this was inconsistent with Sherman regular gun (14%). Most players that know the two weapons would assume the sherman regular gun would be worse than the 57mm against the jagdpanther, or, if they prefer, the 57mm better than the sherman.

This was first moved to Balance Suggestions by SeeN, then deleted entirely by an anonymous user. I don't feel like getting into 'edit wars' so I'll post it here and be done with it.

Hard to know Falaris, maybe it's designed that way with AP rounds in mind.

As a comparison of AT guns, the Pak38 has 14.07%, Flak 36 41.98%, 17 pdr 88.31% vs Jagdpanther, so it's quite variable.

  15. #115
Yes, but in general I tend to find that the main gun of the sherman is worse against heavy armor than the 57mm, also without AP ammo. This is not the case against the JP and Hetzer.

If an AT gun fails against a target, do you usually consider the sherman's main (not upgraded) gun as a better alternative?

Good point Falaris. I'll post this on the wiki so be sure to comment in support.

EDIT: I looked into this in more depth, and found that the Pak38, all tank guns, and even infantry AT all have at least double the penetration of the 57mm AT gun. That reinforces my thinking that this is an oversight and not intended by design.

I do see your point Falaris, it does make sense. I just wouldn't be so quick to label it a bug, definitely a balance issue to be looked at though.

  18. #118
Added a balance suggestion for PE Flakvierling base defences ...
Firstly, they should NOT count towards population count (no other armies base defeces count towards their respective pop cap). Secondly, they should NOT be able to be captured - several maps allow for relatively easy de-crewing and/or capture of these defences. This should either be possible for all factions or for none.

  19. #119
Well, the british base MG nests do count for pop cap, actually. Not the US and Wehr ones though. And the british ones can also be captured, but at least they can't be turned back towards its own units. (Can still 'defend' from retreating troops though.).

I figure the general thinkng is that the PE base defence is much stronger - it IS strong - but with a drawback.

What the heck are you two talking about?

The British have a far higher default pop cap than PE.

The Brits also need far more pop cap than PE due all theirdefense structures, and the churchill if they go RSE.

  22. #122
Of course, silly me, what was I thinking ... the Brits should have sufficient pop cap for an offensive force as well as their emplacement defences whereas PE and Wehrmacht have to settle for one or the other. That's balanced, isn't it (not).

You're right, they should have to pick either one.

However when the Churchill Crocodile tank costs more pop-cap than a tiger, one has to question: "Is this really that fair at all"

Considering the fact that churchill crocs absolutely suck in AT, then no, it is not fair.

Think about it StuH's cost 4 pop cap. 4. You can get 4 StuH's (in terms of population) For one Churchill Croc mkIV tank. Come on...

StuH's aren't able to deal damage to tanks, churchills are. Churchills take 3 cp to obtain, while StuH's take 5. StuH can be easily destroyed, churchills have a lot more health ( StuH 400, Churchill 700 ), churchill has heavy crush, while StuH has only medium. I find churchills very annoying, since they can be obtained extremely early, just like commandoes.

He is talking about the churchill croc which takes 7CPs to get, plus it cost 800mp a little bit more than a StuH don't you think?

hmh. Seems like I didn't read that thoroughly enough. well, there's no idea in using the croc churchill call-in, but off map combat group is pretty much waste aswell...

Since when? With the OF release it got a nice buff so you don't get 3+ mortars or an equivalent of that and IIRC it's 800 like the croc.

This is a bug with installing the beta, i had this bug installing the game too. It doesn't recognize that i have Shader Model 2.0 so it won't install, i used setup bypass to install CoH, but it won't work with this, and i was told that gettin this beta would fix the bug where my mini-map doesnt work, I realize that my video card, which is like an Intel 950GMA or something, doesnt work well with this game, though it does work really well with Dawn of War, another great game by relic

That's the solution. It seems to copy some large files at 98% so wait a little bit longer and it will work.

IIRC with the first Beta Client I stuck 2min at 97% or something similar.

Noticed another double text message bug over the weekend. When playing an automatch if you continue to chat after you have won the game and are viewing the map you still get everything you type displayed twice.

  34. #134
Would just like to note that Flav emplacements are unaffected by Incendiary grenades. I don't think this is supposed to be this way... might be a bug. see thread

My opinion on this bug list?

    It's a disgrace.
When all these bugs are solved the Axis-Teams are the ones with the most profit and the British and American teams are going to be defeated more.

    A bloody outrage.

How about an example? Anything to back that up? A lot of hot air, from where I'm sitting.

    Axis teams?
    Try Axis players.

2v2, Brits and US work much better together than Wehr and PE.

I think I've found a bug. In this 2.317 replay a bridge gets demolished by a crashing plane, but several units are still able to cross it. I don't know whether or not it's a problem with my system and the bridge only looks destroyed on my screen. Can some of you check?

I can confirm that LowlyGrunt. I don't have my 2.201 replay for it though. A plane crashed into a bridge and visibly demolished it but my Tiger had no problem crossing it.

Why exactly are jackholes bitching about balance in the bug list thread?
But we love CoH, it's by far the best RTS game I've ever played. Every rose has its thorns, except CoH's thorns are more like laser guided serrated switch blades. - Painmuffin

    Hi all,
Was just playing a 1v1 on Beaux Lowland map when a interesting bug happened, I'd targeted a squad of Wehr soldiers with a Firefly, Then selected hulldown, The squad went into retreat and the Firefly followed them across the map still in the Hulldown position, It was a strange sight to see.

My brother and I attempted to play team automatch today but every time we invited each other, the game kicks one of out and an incompatible version error pops up. What does this mean? We both have version 2.300.0. Has anyone else come across this problem?
