There seems to have been a bit of confusion recently about what exactly the purpose of this section is, so I'm laying out some rules and things that will be stuck here for a few days, then merged into the rules sticky once I suspect most people have at least glanced at them.
It's important for you guys to read these udpates, since it means I won't have to lock all the threads that are doing stuff they aren't supposed to do.
This section is, despite appearances, not for balance suggestions unless they are directly related to a change that has been made in one of the beta patches.
"I think the new strafing run should be toned down vs veteran infantry" - This is OK. It's beta related since the change was made in a beta patch.
"Can someone at relic please do something about Armour Doctrine pershings because in OF they aren't good enough?" - Not OK. It's not related to the beta itself, and we have a balance section in the main CoH section for these kinds of threads. Don't post stuff like this here.
If you wish to suggest a balance change that isn't directly beta related, please use the Wiki Beta Page. It's purpose is to give the relic guys one location that they can check for commentary and have everything in one place. I highly doubt they are reading the forums with any regularity, so there's no point addressing non-beta related balance here. Register for the wiki and make an edit.
Up to now there has been no clear protocol on where to discuss the changelogs. Obviously me locking threads created by members and redirecting to the changelog sticky is not preferable, but likewise, having 6 different people create new threads about their opinions on the general changes isn't satisfactory either.
The new protocol is as follows:
The Changelog sticky will be locked, and all commentary split off (I'll get to where it's going in a second). Only Buggo and members of the forum staff will be able to post in this thread, and it will serve as an easily readable thread to view the progression of patch changes in order, without having to dig through dozens of replies to find the new changes buried. Essentially, there will be one post per changelog up to now.
The posts currently contained in the changelog sticky will be split off into their own threads dedicated to general discussion of that particular patch. For example, there will be a 2.304 discussion thread (locked, since we're in newer patch presently), a 2.303 discussion thread (also locked), a 2.305 discussion thread (not locked, because it is current), and one for each subsequent patch until the beta stops.
What this means for you guys is that there will be one sticky where you can quickly refresh your memory on the changes, without having to trawl through dozens of posts to find them, and there will be one thread where you can generally discuss the changes (feedback, when is X going to happen, or whatever). You can, of course, create new thread is you wish to discuss specific changes ("How does X affect the beta metagame", "What do you guys think of the new strafing run?" etc).
edit: Changeover complete.
