    (a slow sweeping shot of the mothership bottom to top as it drifts slowly in space is going on while the introduction is going on)
    "Once the had oracle lead the hiigarans to sajuuk it had seemingly shut down."

    "And the fact that it had heavily integrated itself into the hiigaran computer systems and was seemingly impossible to remove within any sort of reasonable time constraints."

    not true... I just saw this. I like creative ideas even if they stray from the established cannon so long as things have been carefully thought through.

    Hopefully you plan more than just a cut scene :-D

    Do you have your own ships? What are your plans from a scripting perspective, etc?

    you know, I always thought we needed a sequel to the hw2 storyline, and I'm sure everyone's interested in what happened to the sajuuk, the oracle, the eye of aarran etc

    I never pay attention to the storylines of games.

    As long as it has skirmish,moddability,a map editor and lots of cool units I'm sold.

    I never even finished the HW2 campaign
    strange...as wonderfull as it may be,i'm still...up here... floating...and no one even seems to notice.

    Sajuuk hold your tongue... A storyline based on the HW2 storyline will need to be very well written for me to buy it and considering how good the Dustwars scripts are you understand my reason for yearning for a HW3 with that type of storyline and not a sequal to swiss cheese.

    That being said the idea of the Oracle coming alive is interesting, it certainly had some sort of AI, might be interesting to see what happens but waiting 2+ years for HW3 to come out(if they were making it right now) will certainly dull the feeling.

    Best story line for a homeworld mod i have seen in a while most mods focus on new ships instead of a new storyline.

    You are going to have trouble finding modellers and various other modders for your project as there arent that many around then there used to be and most of them are working on other projects.

    I would help but i suck to the max at modding maybe when i get my skills up ill give you a hand

    currently i'm just working with existing ships; for example i'm moving stuff around, pride of hiigara for the oracle's forces, sajuuk for hiigarans ( both unique units so their the flagships) etc. Any suggestions on where to go for storyline, as I only have the first mission worked out (and am toying with several ideas). I have some main things worked out... but I need some sort of crises for the galaxy

    (eg. beast influenced projenitor ships start self-replicating outta control and something must be done etc.)

    and i'm gonna fix the whole 'bentusi dying out' thing to, that just plain sucked

    ps. away for a week for camp, so after today... all I can say is


    planned story line so far
    {
    above cutscene
    mission 1
    hiigarans return
    deal with hiigarans
    leave quickly (cleche, yes)
    mission ?
    fix up mothership (possibly incorporate the above mentioned keeper into mothership and stuff)

    find the bentusii
    (they have gone to another galaxy for no other reason exept they where to 'old' and were no longer needed, all, exept for the harbour ship, this happened over a period of the 100 years of hw storyline. The bentusii you see, had their own prophecy...)

    how do you think these prophesies were known? there was a single timeship, could hyperspace through time. oracle tries to stop it, it jumps back. viola you have time loop ( maybe here it could explode or something and you gotta fix it...? (yup, another clech'e)

    possible:
    in galactic problem vagyr could try to make a comeback,try to strike at the hiigarans while their down

    ps. I have no idea how to do a campaign and karos don't work... and the inbuilt one is sucky for learning... please either send me or direct me to a mod that has a campaign that is slightly smaller...

    Day-am Modeling is harder than I first thought, concept is simple, modeling is simple enough, getting the many individual things (aka. the software from .hod to modeling program, back to working .hod)to work the way you want to even MODIFY and EXISTING model is hard enough... ouch. Modelers by far don't get enough credit.

    You know... I noticed a bug... why do squads who have more than 19 units have some units uncontrollable? and how do I fix this?

    To fix the squadron problem edit the formation scripts. (You need a decompiled version) You will have to add the end brackets to some of the values to make it work, otherwise the decompiled scripts will cause a crash. Every new set of xyz coordinates is a slot for another ship in a formation.

    And no; there is no limit to how many ships can be in a formation, at least from what I have seen. I have made formations of up to 100 myself. Just make sure the ships have LODs so that it doesn't kill ur frame rate.

    EDIT: as for the modeling, two free modeling programs are Wings 3D and Blender; both of which work great. Not sure how well their UV mapping works though...

    Ok... i'm grounded until further notice (which means things will be a bit slower development wise, not that it wasn't slow before )... i'll get a 'pilot' mission out asap [edit](and post the mod so far here for review)[/edit], which will become the first mission for the scenario, but that is as soon as I figure how to make scenarios and missions...

    no content as of yet and the templaty-ness of the template I used is not quite gone, but will be added and dealt with soon

    ps. I havn't mentiond yet, anyone who refers to this mod as hw3 DIES A HORRIBLE PAINFULL DEATH, to state simply, I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO LIVE UP TO THAT KIND OF EXPECTATION. I don't have the modelling skills to do that, nor the storywriting skills. You can call it hw3 LATER when it gets the billions of rough edges i'm putting into it out. At the moment it's an EXPANSION on the hw2 storyline

    Currently... Mini Mods, at least until I get the feel of the hw2 engine, oh and put out another race... the order of the 'new bentusii' but this is not the place for that mod.

    (and figured out how to make single player campaigns)

    Story is I'm gonna make a race, introduce it in sp, and incorporate it into this mod later on

    @ xxobot : the shortage of good modellers and texturers is what has done in a lot of modding projects. Use GIMP (it's free) for texturing and then a combination of a free 3D modelling program and CFHodEdit.

    for the personality i would expect being stuck in an asteroid for 10000+ years would perhaps make you a bit insane so i say go for a hal 'guilty spark' style. as for what they do with the pride, if you have played nexus the jupiter incident there is a part where the AI angel incorperates a dead mechanoid body (think pentagon mixed with keeper) with your command ship and it goes all funky powerfull, why not make the pride jump to karos and go to some damaged progenitor tech and use moverst to recover it and then use the phased dissasembler to incorperate it into the ships systems, these wrecks could have a cumulative effect as in you first find a huge wrecked bit of hull wich then replaces the prides texture with a progenitor one to show it has been upgraded. did you understand that?

    oh and on a side note it would be cool if the oracle-pride could make ships based on the hw2 higaran ones like ion cannon frigates that use normal beams but then get upgraded to keeper style ones and then perhaps you absorb a wrecked dreadnaught, and can get phased cannon array frigates.

    xxobot, you should try to first get some pics of progress out and then some people may be willing to help you (you'll get a texturer if you're lucky), however there is a great lack of texturers so your best bet would be to learn how to texture yourself.

    To my understanding, there are two parts to texturing:
    UV Mapping
    Making the texture

    Essentially, texturing is just using the uv map put it into photoshop, make pictures on the uv map and saving it as a .dds. :P

    What i'm going to do is incorperate a keeper into the motherhsip's systems... simply because the mothership was meant for the hyperspace core... with the core gone... the mothership can't hyperspace or anything... along comes the keeper and bam! it can farjump again

    Thanks for that... and i'll be releasing my first installment of a beta of a mini mod that psuedo (aka. not yet) comes into the plan of bringing this mod together... soon.
    It is... however... not part of it yet. Basically it's a race that springs up during of the bentusi, as the bentusi where declining, this race was doing rather well for itself...

    dont even make it symetrical just randomly add progen hulks to the side of the ship
    story:
    the pride jumps to karos and sends out an incredibly powerfull becon that the t-mat pick it up and thinks its the progenitors retering

    or the becon brings the progenitors back(there in cryo stasis on the edge of the galaxy

    Higara has lost it's capship door... how should I fix it? should I just weld a keeper in there or put a rather large random hulk there or fix it...? just post ideas on what I your reckon I should do (saves me alot of hard work)

    I already have some ideas for hiigaran, keeper (oracle), bentusi (order of the new), what about vagyr? turned to piracy perhaps? enslaved the... can't think of the name... (the guys from the nebula in hw1)?

    oh and projeniters no, tmat... yes... but it's gonna be rather... difficult to give them much presence... i'm just not the one to do their ships...

    i would put a put the exact same door in with progen textures and colours this makes it look like the progen repaired it. or you could just use the default mothership door and say the progen salvaged it from space

    It's the Pride of higara with the lighthouse stuck onto it so as to cover up the door...

    The story is that the oracle had a ship (The aforementioned pride of higara) but it needed the functions the lighthouse provided, so it glued it to the pride, mover style
