    HIGH CLASSIFICATION.

    Units

Servitors: Hideous corruptions of man and machine, these produce the tasks deemed worthless by the Iron Warriors. Base building and other meaningless things such as unit repair.

Infilitrators: Basic Iron Warrior squad, armed with bolters, they are fast moving and can gain territory early on. However, they are arrogant cowards and will rarely fight, as they are only tasked with scouting duties.

Iron Warriors: The average Iron Warrior is a brutal, well trained and focused killing machine, with a ferocity in close combat equal to a World Eaters berserker. However, they are hard to train and pretty damn expensive.

Siegemasters: Trained to operate heavy weaponary, these Iron Warriors are built to destroy fortifications. Come in small numbers, and really are not useful against infantry. When against buildings, they come into a world of their own.

Birthed: Weak Iron Warriors, good for quick units for when supplies are low. Bad morale and stats, really only good for a quick to build unit.

Unborn: Disgusting piles of flesh, used as Cannon Fodder by the egotastical Iron Warriors.

Obliterators: Walking battleships, with a deadly amount of weaponary and the ability to teleport, they are brilliant for when you want to deal the most damage.

Terminators: These act as bodyguards for Iron Warriors commanding units, and are a good all round unit, although can only be built once.

    Commanding units:

    Captain:
Increases friendly morale and has a range of unit support abilities.

Warsmith: Tough, a combat monster, and can easily outmatch most units in combat. Has the ability to repair friendly structures and vehicles.

    +++DATA DELETED+++

    Vehicles:

Rhino: Good troop transport, can bring Iron Warriors to the middle of the fight and give them light support.

Predator: Medium tank, able to give squads a larger range of firepower in combat missions.

Vindicator: Short ranged cannon, good for close sieges and as a breaching vehicle.

Basilisk: Long range, can bombard enemy positions from afar to soften them before the squads move in.

Dreadclaw: Used to surprise the enemies, these can drop units in fast for support and reinforcements, but offer no fire support.

Leviathan: One of the largest vehicles available, this can carry units and provide devasting firepower, however is very slow.

    Buildings:

Bastion: Upgradable with weapons and emplacements, this is the base of operations for the Iron Warriors.

Barracks: Produces the basic Iron Warrior units.

Forge: Allows for upgradable weaponary, unit research and later, the production of Obliterators.

Foundry: Produces power and lowers cost of upgrades and vehicles.

    Incinerator. Power structure.

Strongpoint: The Iron Warriors equivalant to a listening post, this heavily armoured bunker can garrison units inside to provide a field of fire around the location.

Bolter Emplacement: This low cost building can provide weak defence. Can be upgraded to house an autocannon, and later a missile battery.

Mortar Pit: Houses a mortar for unmoveable bombardment, this is best used when build out of reach.

Birthing Pit: Produces cheap units, and lowers the cost of infantry.

Vehicle factory: Produces vehicles and research.

Blastwalls: Enhances cover and blocks paths.

    Tank traps: Blocking terrain.

    Minefields: Base defence.

    Sounds fantastic!
There we were, ready to charge the loyalist scum, and then suddenly we were under fire from our west flank. Batshit mental. We turn to return fire, and somehow they sneaked a bunker in, right next to us! We didn't have any meltas so we got the hell out of there. CREEEEED!

Can't wait for this mod. My TT army is founded from The Imperial Fists and they hold a special place in the darkest hole of their hearts for the Iron Warriors.

hope the data deleted is one (of maybe more?) of the following
-iron warrior dreadnought with siege hammer like Berossus
    -savage morticians like on medrengard
-sorcerer-cabal like in Storm of Iron

    can't wait to play this : D

Sadly, Freedo, you're wrong, in all guesses. What that unit is, will not be revealed until I deem it so! So in other words, it's a surprise!

I'm gonna make another guess at the mysterious unit... chirumeks. Twisted buggers that they are

btw, this lineup of units seems to resemble Honsou's grand company pretty much dead on, minus his now deceased champion, Onyx. you know there's another iron warrior mod-in-progress on revora forums? it'd be pretty awesome to have some intra-legion feuding in game like that between Honsou and Berossus/Toramino

To utterly break the narrative sadly, I'd just like to say that alpha-level coding is nearly complete, and I'm well on my way to a beta release.

The amusing thing is, that due to the Primarch of the Iron Warriors' complex...problems, he always saw the construction of new structures as a challenge and wished to tear it asunder as soon as possible.

Metaphorically, that does not bode well for your Christmas ideas.

    However, I am not Perturabo.

    --REQUEST--
    To: Master of the Legion
    Inquiry Reference: Theta 43
    --

    Units

Imperial Fist squad: The average brother-marine of the Legion, skilled in combat and battlefield construction. These serve as the most common infantry force.

Devastators: Heavily armed marines, these are for dealing with opposing vehicles and structures.

Servitors: Repair units, but when added to the techmarine; they allow him to construct structures at a faster rate.

Assault Marines: Rapid insertion force, used for quick attacks on stragetic points - can uncap, but not capture.

Terminators: Heavy duty dealers of firepower, they can hold a breach for very long against overwhelming numbers. A variety of upgrades allows this unit to be fairly modular and become suited to various situations.

Assault Terminators: The personal retinue of the first company captain, these incredibly powerful combat units are exceptional against both infantry and vehicles. Blessed with heavy storm - shields and thunderhammers, they can deal damage right when it's needed thanks to the Phalanx's powerful teleporters.

    Commanding units:

Techmarine: Upgradable and modular commander unit, while not good in combat, he can be modified to help construction, repair and ranged support.

Commander: Basic Imperial Fists commander unit, good at combat and morale raising abilities.

First Company Commander: Tough, resolute and almost unstoppable when coupled with his personal retinue of Assault Terminators.

    +++DATA DELETED+++

    Vehicles:

Razorback: Medium troop transport, is able to get Imperial Fist squads in and out of combat engagements quickly. Can be upgraded to provide anti-vehicle defence.
Damocles Command Tank: A unit spotter, can detect infilitrated units and increase line of site.

Land Raider Helios: Long ranged Land Raider support tank, best used when coupled with the Damocles.

Phalanx: Can teleport units throughout the battlefield and provide orbital bombardments. A hub-link towards the orbital station is communicated via the Land Raider Prometheus.

Land Raider Prometheus: Command tank, used to communicate with orbiting ships and ground command. Unarmed.

Ironclad Dreadnought: Heavy combat dreadnought, useful against structures.
    Buildings:

Fortress: Pre-fabricated and un-upgradable structure, providing the Imperial Fists with basic units and researches.

Communication Station: Allows for the research of upgrades, production of units stationed on the Phalanx.

Vehicle Dropzone: Allows for the production of vehicles.

Teleport station: Initial link up with the various teleporters the Imperial Fists use as transport.

    Generator: Power structure.

Bunker: Armoured emplacement for securing listening posts.

Bolter Turret: Automated defence system which provides basic base defence.

Missile turret: Long ranged support and base defence.

Sandbags: Enhances cover and blocks paths.

    Minefields: Base defence.

Not. But lob screaming death from one corner away... ^^
More seriously, that's where some tactical assessment of the maps is in order, so as to not waste your resources in a metal behemoth (that'd be pretty impressive to look at, granted, but totally useless) but rather in troops adapted to a small map/cityfight type, which the IW certainly possess.

It will be scaled and adapted to fit in all but the tightest maps. And no, the mod isn't dead - quite the opposite really. I've put this to the backburners until after Christmas, where I can be fully committed to getting both races ingame.

As an alternative to the Leviathan uberunit (not that I don't like the idea, cause I do) consider the siege cannon unit featured at the conclusion of Fallen Angels (the novel).

These siege engines were demon-possessed, commissioned by Horus for the Heresy, and taken by Perturabo following Lion El Johnson's victory, so they are Iron Warrior fluff. They might be considered the baneblade of the basilisk world, an immensely powerful super-heavy artillery piece, on tracks, with HB and Lascannon close range defences.

    Just a thought.

Those weapons are far too rare to be included. Fallen Angels indicates that there is only a handful of these artillery pieces available. The will not be featured in the multiplayer race for these reasons.

"The will not be featured in the multiplayer race for these reasons"

Hmmmm...Does that mean that they will be included in another way?

And, I didn't read Fallen Angels, but I remember that in Storm of Iron the Iron Warriors have some deamon-possessed artillery guns, and that they can build them at will, all they need is a forge (and the Emperor knows they have lots) and a few thousand souls so sacrifice....

Those daemonic vehicles in Storm of Iron seem to just be possessed self propelled artillery pieces, which will be included in the form of the Basilisk/Vindicator.

Yes, these massive pieces will be included in the meta map campaign, which will come after the races are released. I feel this campaign needs more description though:

    It will feature four races:
    - Iron Warriors XII Grand Company
    - Imperial Fists Space Marine Chapter
    - PDF Regiment
    - 34th Cadian

The actual campaign will be similar to a massive planet wide siege, with each region scripted to give a unique mission each time.

As for my mention of the Iron Cage incident, this will be a very large scripted map, with new 3d models.

The Tower of Skulls is, whatever that conversion shows in the GW site, a daemonic engine of Khorne and as such doesn't fit in the unaligned 'i-don't-trust-anything-that-isn't-me-and-even-barely' ethos of the Iron Warriors (which is why they do trafficking only with daemonic entities from out of the 'big 4' circle).
Anyways it's up to Haratac to tell whatever will feature in the mod but i doubt it'll be crammed in.

How is the campaign gonna be done? is it a meta-map like in the soulstorm campaign? or like DOW +DOW:WA, with set scenarios?

IF there's a campaign being worked on it could be a metamap (a hell of a work) or a revamp of the metamap DC or SS campaign replacing one of the race by the IW(a hell of a work and less interesting) or a linear set of scenario like it was unde DoW or WA. Whatever way the mod will be DC or SS its up to Heretic.

for the moment a metamap is planned :
Yes, these massive pieces will be included in the meta map campaign
wich i'll curious to see when it is released

Currently the SP campaign will be a revamp of the DC metamap, with new maps, scenarios wargear and objectives - of course taking into consideration the legal issues surrounding the metamap software. I'd rather not do this, but I feel it's one of the only ways. This campaign will be a brand new one, with new background, characters and locations.

Now as to those who are thinking 'iron cage wut' - this will be a single large, massive map, complete with SCAR coding, new models, new characters and such and such.

  44. #294
Is it going to be as tactiaclly birlliant as it was in the lore?

Yes will be interesting to see if the developers can rise to the challenge of creating arguably some of the most unassailable fortifications in fictional imagination. There's the gauntlet, and it's down.

    To help:
    Killing zones,
    Rapid Response Reserves
Fortifications rigged to explode when taken
    Trenches
    False weak points
Sallyports (concealed exits for the defenders to surprise the attackers, possibly even coming up behind them)
Short, medium and long range artillery
    Tunnels/ linked fortifications
    Self-healing mine fields
    Ambulatory turrets
Iron Warrior squads that are extra resistant to damage when in cover
    Fake objectives
    Booby-trapped strategic points
    Mine-field throwers/ layers/ laying missiles
    Terminator-style tracked Behemoth Demon Engines
    etc

Great to see this mod keeps progressing, I can't wait to see it finished.
For all those asking "Will it be a DC of SS mod?", IIRC it was planned to be a DC mod since a the beginning, and Heretic just said that the map would be a revamp of the DC metamap, so I guess it's pretty clear now

"I'm afraid I don't understand that post, Meph"

I think Mephistoned just tried to give you some ideas for the fortifications, and some of them are really, especially the booby-trapped strategic points which would be really fun.

It's probably to the challenged issued forth that Heretic showed some incomprehension; given Le 'Tic knows very well what he's doing and -more than that- what he's wanting, the list came a bit as unnecessary, as the 'gauntlet'. Of course it's to be taken as a jest, i'm sure. ^^

Now, to say something more sensible about the map, i know (for good reasons ) that Heretic has kept it on burners for easily three years now and that it's left him with ample time to corkscrew-think some goodness. His studious foraying in other aspects of modding than 'mere' (sic!) modelling and texturing can also but improve this project.
    Go Go Haratac!
