[2.316] Panther Cost Reduction too low?

Just played a 2v2 vs two Wehr, I rushed grey hounds, by the time I had 2 there where 2 Panthers in the game, is the cost reduction too much on these units?

lol, was it me you where playing?

Just played a game like that, the thing was that we had about 50+ in fuel, just a little bit in the game, then it doenst take long to get panters.

Well, if you only have 2 greyhounds by the time he has two Panthers, you did something seriously wrong. Did your opponent have most of the map? In any case, a fuel cost of 110 is more or less right. Perhaps 115 would be better, but seriously, I don't see anything wrong with its cost. The teching costs and possibly vet costs make Panthers one of the most expensive investments in the game.

600 MP and 120 FU would be great for the panther imo.
    Bla bla bla?

i think you were just slow . panthers needed this cost reduction to battle it out with the firefly (firefly still wins though ).

When I read the topic I thought you would argue for a higher reduction, meaning cheaper Panthers. No, I think the price is right, but I find Panthers too effective against infantry.
In one game I killed a ton of infantry with my Panther .... infantry should be its weakness.

I just want to point out that is was wrong for Relic to just buff the Panther to deal with the FF. The FF should have been nerfed so then the Panther can deal with it (which I believe it did). Now it has become much more difficult for US players to deal with Panthers, due to its range increase. If the Panther is to remain at its current price, the range needs to go back to 40.

Completely agree, US really lacks late game armour to counter Axis heavy tanks. My suggestion?

Since the m10 is the only dedicated US tank destroyer that isn't doctrine-based, to reduce its price to 270mp, 50 fuel.

I can see a reduction in the fuel cost of the M10 to 50 but it's already at 300 manpower. That's dirt cheap already.

M10s should have a higher survivability. Either by higher hitpoints or by increasing the acceleration and deceleration.
M10s moving in on a Panther die so quickly that you often aren't able to reverse direction after you fired a shot or two.

Well we could always ask Relic to turn the US M1 57mm ATG into the US M5 76MM ATG as a counter. or just make the M1 cheaper.

Shermans are more viable, with the shreck nerf. Upgun those little weasels. Or build x2 AT guns.

I can't see m10 spam working too well, they would be obliterated by the usual supporting shreck grens (at least, I'd never send a Panther out alone).

Wow, Im lucky if I can get out a gren squad with 1 shrek or maybe a puma before I see a greyhound.
Panthers got nerfed and are now useless against infantry so I think the cost is fine as it is.

Panthers are fine, late T4 unit. Only 2 Greyhounds? Must be Relics fault.
    Stop the bullshit.

    lets compare the teching costs.

    Fuel cost for 2 Panther:
teching costs: 35+50+50=135 (IIRC, i havent teched to T4 for ages)
Building costs (only T4; did not build T2 or T3 buildings):50
    Two Panther's cost: 110+110
    Total cost: 405 fuel

    teching costs to 2 greyhounds:
    Supply depot: 50
    Motorpool: 45
    2 Greyhounds: 30+30
    Total cost: 155 fuel

405-155=250. This means he had, that's right, at LEAST 250 fuel more then you. And he had no veterancy AND he had no units other then volks, bikes, MGs and snipers.

In a realistic scenario, with T2 and vet 2 on his infantry, this adds a further 95 fuel, which brings us to 345 fuel. Even if they brought their cost back up to 125, there would still be a 315 fuel gap (or 220 fuel in the unrealistic scenario).

Yes, this means panthers deserve to be pushed back even further.

    Panther balance

Well if they were to make adjustments to the US, then they must factor in the change to PE respectively

What should've be done is to nerf the firefly to an extent.

At the same time I must admit that panthers were way overpriced for what they could do. Especially considering the lack or number of tanks that makes up the strength of the allied armies. And I for one never built panthers in multiplayer as WEHR, (even 3 Vs 3) because it wasnt worth the investment costs to go to Tier4, when the earlier Tier's could do the same job for a fraction of the cost. and all despite them being my most revered and favourite unit to build. So I actually might get to build one now, yay thanks relic
