    BEST - THEORY - EVER!

    just had kick ass theory

You know how how smart you are is related to how many connections there are between each neuron in your brain?

well, what if all the knowledge in existence was already in your brain, BUT, when you learn something, a connection to that bit of knowledge is made. huh? huh? so, maybe if we zapped our brain with something, we could activate all those neurons, and become super smart.

    any thoughts?

So what you're saying then is that the recipe for prawn cocktail exists as a neuron inside your brain, but must be "zapped" before you can use it?

I'm going to go to bed.

Bets on how long until this thread gets locked.

Alternately, if anyone is familiar with the concept of emergence and would like to elucidate on it, go and save this thread.

  6. #6
Wikipedia has this to say on emergence - "In philosophy, systems theory and the sciences, emergence refers to the way complex systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple interactions. Emergence is central to the theory of complex systems."

You mean cognitive emergence? Like if we keep making A.I. better and better, it will eventually become greater than the sum of its parts and achieve true sentience? We had a thread not too long ago about whether or not there was even intelligence, or just cause and effect relationships between particles in space.

I for one think the intelligence curve is exponential, and it will reach a point where constructed intelligences will have to be considered sentient.
This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.- Churchill

Funny you should mention this because not long ago during some self relfection I became more aware of the fact that I understand more in totality than I do onsciously. Because the actual learning is mostly unconcious before being translated into a visual/linguistic concept, it creates a sense of uncovering knowledge as opposed to learning it, at least thats my experience.

Relates more to the concious and the unconcious intellect than your post, but... uhhh... I dunno.

I wonder if anyone could find the 'root' of a thought.

  9. #9
i dont know. but im almost finished with my zapper *cough* i mean... um... hi.

Problem: You've just made a dumbass out of yourself on an internet forum.

    Solution: Claim that you're drunk.
"In Italy under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." -Orson Welles

I can see a light... ZAP! Light gone.

I actually quite like the idea, it would mean we would be able to enslave employ children into the workforce at a younger age, since there would be no need for schooling, but still, it is silly imo.

You don't have a theory. A theory has support through evidence and experiment. What you have sir, is a hypothesis.

  20. #20
ok then. maybe i should rename it BEST - HYPOTHESIS - EVER!

  21. #21
You could perhaps experiment on yourself in order to test your hypothesis.

No, turning it into a credible and serious thread would undermine the bizzaro dumbitude of it.

Asmaedus, I think you should read some stuff about how the brain works. It's all very funny and charming how you just threw some words into a post with no basic knowledge of the subject and all, but it's about as conducive to non-spam discussion as talking about the science of shamanic arts.

Edit: Oh my Jesus I hate brains.

Can we not be harsh to the OP? an idea is an idea; besides without ideas we would not be here (or no internets!)

I actually think the OP has a very good point or theo-er hypothesis; now if only he could back this up with some research, or something.

I mean, how do spiders after hatching and disposing of their parental unit know how to spin webs? or know that (to my knowledge in most cases) after mating they must devour their partner (and eventually) become fodder for their offspring? But then again spiders are not sentient...or are they?

What I really mean to say that perhaps knowledge is somehow resonant in dna and passed from parent to offspring...hmm..

    *silently walks away.

*stops and yells back: Yo Nuriezko; this aint a science thread fella, its general discussions; so yeh.

    *skips off.

I agree, this thread is even more brain numbingly craptacular then a brain with all the knowledge still locked away, waiting to be zapped.
