So yeah. I actually got around to writing some stuff. I found homeworld is pretty fun to base on. Mainly It will just be short little instalments (each chapter is around 3-5 hand written pages), but I might write another after this with longer ones. At the moment I am starting chapter 5. You can expect 1 - 2 chapters a week depending on how busy I am in school. So, a few things first:
There may be some fluff inconsistencies, yes what not, terrible ones you can pick out. Spelling might be bad on some things. Feel free to pick those out too. Otherwise just general C&C is appreciated.
So without further ado I give you
Homeworld: Empire War
After the Kushan Exiles returned to their homeworld and ended the Taidan regime, the galaxy was very quickly reordered.
The Kadeshi, Protectors of the Garden, thought to be destroyed, had in fact survived, and from the ashes of their domain, they have rebuilt a new empire.
The Nalthorans, a growing civilization, carved out an empire of their own of the edge of the Turanic Kingdoms. They would become one of the biggest supportes of the new Hiigaran Empire.
What was left of the Taidan either allied with the Turanics, Hiigarans, or simply scattered across the galaxy.
When the third Hyperspace Core was discovered, it threw the galaxy into disarray once more. Even though the war was devastating, great discoveries were made during its time. Sajuuk was awakened and the Trinity united.
A new era had dawned after the Vaygr were anhilated. It is a time that is dominated by massive trade fleets plying the galaxy. And it is a time that will not be prepared for the new threat that has come.
Chapter 1: A New Era
Captain Herran watched as the Nazarine slid gently out of the Shipyard Somtaaw's construction bay. The new Lark Class Carrier combined the role of line ship and mobile dock. Its weapon systems included a dorsal quad torpedo launcher and a bow mounted Arbiter cannon.
The new warship would be accompanying a mining convoy to a helium rich dust cloud on the edges of Turanic space, hence the armament. Recently attacks by the raiders had increased, and the Somtaaw were worried for their mining convoy. Not every one could be accompanied by one of the Explorer ships.
A half dozen Blade Interceptor squadrons launched as well, and they moved to dock with the carrier. As he watched the shipyard's intercom chimed, "Captain Herran to Nazarine Bridge. Hyperspace Initiate in forty minutes.
As the Captain rode the lift down to the launch bay, he was joined by several crew members. He easily overheard their anger and displeasement at being assigned to a mining convoy instead of a patrol.
"All the patrols are getting the action! Why the hell would they put veteran pilots like us on kriffing guard duty?
Captain Herran knew what he was talking about. A lot of anomalies had been detected recently at sights relating to the three cores: the Hethlam Ice Fields, Kharak, the Bentus Wreck. What was odd, was every time they were investigated, they turned out to be nothing.
As he boarded a shuttle to get transfered over to the new carrier, alarm klaxons suddenly went off. Outside he heard the whoosh of engines as interceptors and bombers took off. He tapped in a few commands on his PDA and got a response from the bridge almost immediately.
"Unauthorised hyperspace. All ships prepare for contact. Scramble all fighters."
Several dozen kilometers out, five quantam wavefronts opened up and slid back, revealing the flaming hulls of a Hiigaran destroyer, a transport frigate, and three flak frigates.
Suddenly a transmission came across from the stricken ships: "This is Patrol Fleet 011098 requesting immediate assistance and support. We need immediate assistance!" Even as the message ended, a flak frigate was engulfed in a ball of plasma and flame as its core exploded.
What started as a defence response turned into a support response as dozens of drones and repair craft moved towards the ships.
After several horrifying minutes of watching another frigate explode and a chunk of the destroyer break off, the remainder of the crews were rescued. After they were recovered, the commander was debriefed.
"Activate log... Captain, please respond to the following questions as correct or uncorrect. Patrol Fleet 011098 was on duty in the Karos Graveyard. You were near the lighthouse remains at the moment."
The man sitting across from him nodded gently. Half of his head was bandaged, and his arm was set in a sling.
"As you began an exit trajectory, you detected a mass signature and a hyperspace signature out some fifty-seven kilometers to the port."
Another nod indicated everything was so far correct.
"As you neared the sight, you came under attack from multiple unidentifiable sources, possible cloaked? As you returned fire, your shots hit an energy field that rippled as they struck. Suddenly a massive beam similar to that of a Phased Cannon Array hit your fleet, destroying most of your ships. You and the remainder of PF011098 fled."
The captain nodded again.
"Thank you. You are dismissed. End Log."
Captain Herran finally arrived on the Nazarine. The arrival of the damaged fleet had delayed the departure of the mining convoy, and had retasked the carrier to go to the Tenhauser Station and report this incident to the Galactic Council.
Several hours elapsed over the course of the journey, and when the Nazarine arrived, the situation was much different then when it had left. Currently there was chatter on almost every available channel, and from what sensors could tell, there was a blank spot on the radar that would normally be occupied by hundreds of ships.
Only after a few seconds of adjusting to the new light did the crew of the arriving carrier see what it was. Four of the feared Kadeshi Needleships were floating in space. Around then, it seemed nearly a solid cloud of Swarmers of varying designs idled. A brief sensor ping showed that over one thousand ships were in that cluster.
Suddenly, comms ceased as the Kadeshi ambassador spoke. "Attention all members of the Galactic Council. I speak for all of Kiith Kadesh and the Protector people. During recent times, kiith Kadesh has been engaged in a battle that has pushed us out of the holy Garden.
Ancient Warships, older than those of the Bentusi "awoke" from nearby systems and assaulted the Garden. Their attack was blunted, but their weapons found our weaknesses and soon we were forced to retreat or be utterly destroyed.
Something has happened in this galaxy that is causing these monsters to awake from their slumber. The galaxy will stand united or being picked apart. We will overlook the hostilities between us if you wish to ally, and we ask that you do the same."
Upon the end of the speech, dozens of voices broke out until the chatter was silenced by an Unbound Frerrn commander. "For lond we have been detecting anomolies. If it was not apparent to others who have seen them, they are all at sights of relation to the Trinity. Balcora, Bentus, Hethlam, Kharak, Karos. As you races have been interested in becoming richest, or most powerful, you have missed the threat which now spawns. Now is no longer the time to drink wine and relax. Now is the time for war, and it will come, whether the galaxy is ready or not."
The Kadeshi had been preparing for war either way. Their Needleships were armed and armoured with technology that no one had been able to implement until now. Each mounted a Phased Cannon and reactionless drives.
Even as the fleets discussed what to do next, a single corvette class vessel arrived through hyperspace and played a eerie message.
"Your time as rulers has come to an end. You time as slaves is beginning. Hand over all Progenitor artifacts or suffer the consequences. We will return in one day."
I'm going to stop here. I'll finish posting up the rest of what I have soon.
