    [DEAD] American Revolution

    Hello everyone.
    For this mod I am sure to nobody is making it.

    This mod is total conversion. It will focus on time of American Revolution.

    In this mod races will be: America, France and Britain.

    UPDATE no.1

    UNITS:
    -America:
    -INFANTRY:
    -militia infantry(9 mens in squad, equipped with muskets without bayonet, very low moral, they will can set ambush)
    -regular infantry(10 mens in squad, one officer, equipped with muskets with bayonet, officer equipped with pistol, good moral)
    -French regular infantry(10 mens squad, one officer, equipped with muskets with bayonet, officer equipped with pistol, very good moral, better than regular infantry, this unit will be available as support from one of the doctrines)
    -veteran militia infantry(9 mens in squad, equipped with muskets without bayonet, very good moral, they will can set ambush, this unit will be available as support from one of the doctrines)
    -builders(5 mens in squad, equipped with pistols, they build some defensive structures, this unit will be available as support from one of the doctrines)
    -CANNONS:
    -field gun
    -howitzer
    -French field gun
    -CAVALRY:
    -militia cavalry(9 horses in this squad, equiped with muskets without bayonet, this unit will be available as support from one of the doctrines)

    -French:
    -INFANTRY:
    -militia(10 mens in squad, one officer, equipped with muskets without bayonet, officer equipped with pistol, good moral, they will can set ambush)
    -regular infantry(10 mens in squad, one officer, equipped with muskets with bayonet, officer equipped with pistol, very good moral)

    I need modelers, skinners, mappers and coder. (just send to me a PM if you want to be something of that)

    List of stuff what must be modeled:
    -American and French musket
    -British musket
    -Pistol
    -Bayonet
    -corn
    -hat(like on picture down)

    Wow good luck. This will be infantry only you understand? I think coding muskets/cannons would be quite hard. You can't do melee either, so no bayonets/cavalry. If you CAN pull it off it would be a most impressive achievement but it would most likely be very shallow and uninvolved.

    I am not sure which doctrines will be for French. I will write it when I decide which doctrines will be for French.

    Im currently watching guys who are making a WWI mod, so the only difference would be the tactics involved (machine guns n' all)

    I actually think this is possible, but you should look for the best guys(HalfTrack comes automatically to mind as skinner )

    No. I think to I will not be historically accurate. When I will be historically accurate France will not be playable race, because their army came for time of battle for Yorktown. Maybe if I will have campaign, then I will be only for campaign historically accurate.

    Hey, just a suggestion, if this will be for CoH:OF, perhaps the Colonists and France should replace the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom, while Britain should replace Wehr/PE, and another British faction to replace the remaining German faction in OF.

    If one is confused about the names, I'm sure if you did your history, you would know which name belongs in which time period.

    For the second British faction, perhaps it could be the Iroquois Confederacy. I keep thinking about the Quebec Canadiens who defeated the colonists on their home turf, but I am hesitant on thinking it was a major part of the war.

    When I think about CoH mods, I don't really think about this!

    I made for races this:
    1.I switched British to axis side and I disable PE


    2.I switched Wehrmacht to allies


    3.If you noticed I changed icons of France and Americans. Only thing what I must make is to change name from Wehrmacht to France.

    Are you familiar with the Total War series from Creative Assembly? The newest, Medieval: Total War, would make a much better vehicle for conversion to pike and musket era. You'd have larger formations to work with. Horses, melee combat and gunpowder weapons are already modeled. Open field maps, European buildings and weather conditions are in the world builder. Also, it is very modder friendly. One group did a Napoleonic mod with great success.

    Kami the only way you ever get this mod going is for people to donate modelling/skinning. I mean your making like a full conversion of this mod and if your just a 1 man team this is very difficult. I suggest first gather a team, than slowly build the mod. So first make infantry than cannons, horses. But you also have to add melee in the coding. So you need a coder expert. a modeller who knows how to model European style. Skinner who knows it too. Than Mapper.

    It seems to me that your comment about Kamikaza's mod is a tad inappropriate for a 40+ year old to be making about a 14 year old. Maybe when you were 14 you were all polish and knew just what to do all the time. Sometimes it's best not say anything if you don't have anything constructive to say!

    Kami,

    What you're looking for will be very difficult to find as you are no doubt finding out. I have made a few mods myself and have never posted them. The main reason is that if you have an idea for a mod you need to start small and then develop your skills. There are many, many skills you will need to develop. Most of the top modders out there have spent a year and more developing their skills. Mapping, coding, etc. all require some effort if you want to become proficient and because you are unknown it is unlikely that any of the experienced modders will be willing to put their stuff on hold to work with you. Best thing is for you to start trying things out and maybe in a few months post some beta versions even if they aren't perfect. At least people will see that you are serious about modding and may give you a try. I know that what you're asking to be done would be beyond my abilities. However, don't be discouraged and give it some time. I hope this helps!

    Considering how painful the process from start to finish creating new unit is, it's very hard to just donate precious free time you no longer have, to such a project you have little intrest on.

    Total War: Empire will do everything better than this game engine will ever be able do on musket era combat.

    Not trying to kill the mod here, just giving my point of view as a modeller/skinner.

    All the tools are out, so with very hard work, enthusiasm and time this could be done.

    With LOTS and LOTS of time. I could tell you, how time consuming it is,
    to even bring in SOME new aspects, but doing everything new, thats ... I dont want to say impossible, but almost out of reach.
    Besides, the really good and talented guys do have their own projects running.

    Kami you could start exploring your gameplay concept with modstudio. Starting with stuff like rifleonly infantry, with rifles that reload slowly and thus simulating the musket function.

    Offtopic: I dream of making a mod that concentrates on 2v2+ multiplayer gameplay solely. The mod would focus on adding realism but mainly on making a lot of new teamplay and cooperation combos and options. Each player would specialize into one or each of the following divisions. Infantry, Specialized Infantry, Motorized/Mechanized and Armored. The most cost effective way to go for a team would be if all players would focus on just one division, however each of the divisions would be equally strong, each would just have different approach to play. Axis and Allies would have very much similiar unit arsenals but not mirrored. The main point with this is that there would be more options for players and thus the balance would still be intresting and every match would be unlike the last one. New units and content would ofc be made for this. But even if i made it. Down side with this would be that it would be worth playing only with 4human players at least. And taking into consideration how hard it would be to get enough players. I never pursued this concept past the planing stage, but i still might.

    Iv been hoping someone could come up with a mod like that! Where both teams actually cooperate like an army you know? Kind of like giving in-game orders and requests such as: "Panzer moving in, need cover" or "enemys bunkered in, help me out?" and then theres a bleep that shows you where he needs you. Almost like AoE II.

    The second amry could almost be"inderectly controlled".
