When I went to play my first game online I had a lot of trouble connecting. Long story short I port forwarded, and set up a static IP and DNS.
Now the new 2.3 patch came out, and I began experiencing the same problems again, as did a huge number of other games like yourselves.
I won’t go into the details of why the new patch has caused these issues because they are irreverent but below is a simple fix.
All PCs around the world are set to automatically obtain their IP and DNS by default. So now we will undo our first changes and remove the static IP and DNS by setting both back to auto.
>My network places
>View my network connections
>Right click on the network connection that connects to your router
>Left click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
N.B. OK a good idea at this point is to write down these numbers just incase things go screwy (THEY WONT!), but PCs are fickle and it would not hurt just to be safe
>Click Obtain an IP address automatically
>Click obtain DNS server address automatically
Give your PC a minute to reconfigure, a reboot would help but is unnecessary. Check that you can still reach your internet home page, if you can’t reboot and try again. If you can then load COH and try and join a game.
