New in-game Timer with Teamate's RU display for hw2

This mod updates hw2's interface with two features present in many new rts games. An in-game Timer and a Resource display that shows your teamate's resources. With this mod you can share ru as a team without having to ask 'does anyone have any extra ru?' all the time.

You can use this with with regular hw2, or any mod - online or offline.

    Download here:
    http://files.filefront.com/ingamedis.../fileinfo.html

To instal, extract the .zip file's contents into your homeworld2/bin folder.

That's an interesting and welcome feature from you...
It's always useful to know the resources status of allies
    Thank you very much

I'm curious as to how you got the ATI strings to show up in different colors. I attempted this, but couldn't get it to work.

Misha, aren't last 3 parameters of the text function simply RGB color components?

Ah, I see now that it is not a gamerule. It uses "autoexec.lua", which doesn't have the same ATI functions.

No, it's not really a mod, which is actually way better that way.

What sort of credit is wanted for using this in a mod?
    Homeworld 2: Crossfire
"History comes full circle. Sometimes, humanity survives. Other times...it's obliterated. We tell stories to help us remember history, to keep us from reigniting a war that would no doubt destroy another planet...and perhaps some other race. I wish the best to those who would find the fallen meteor. One cover, a little secret, who follow the trail...who reconstruct my nightmare..."

As it was stated earlier, it's not a mod since it uses autoexec.lua , a file that not only isn't in the same folder as the mods (mods are in Data, Autoexec.lua can be found in "Bin" if i'm not wrong), but also works totally apart from any mod
To be more simple, it works with Homeworld2.exe, not the mods

Don't see why would someone want some credit for this modification of autoexec.lua. People that need credit for making this possible are the ones that compiled the list of homeworld 2 functions and entered their descriptions on the homeworld 2 wiki. I think Mikail was one of the contributors.

Yes, but I am planning on including it with my mod.

I was under the impression that cloaked made this specific version of the file. If he did then it's technically his creation.

Regardless. I just want to know if credit is needed to use this in/with my mod.

Wouldnt that make it a patch instead of a mod?

Votes for name to be: "HW2 1.x.1 patch"
err, I forgot what version were at . . .

Technically yes, but that's not very important at that point
Thing is that i don't think this modification of autoexec.lua can be introduced in a mod (i mean, you can still pout it in the .zip or .rar file and put a note on how and where to place it, but since it works with the regular HW2, i don't see the point of putting it into the mod )

The point is, I'd like my mod to have the resource counters and time display.

Well, if it was a patch, it would then be a mod requirement if the mod maker wanted the feature in the mod.

    "Homeworld2 MP Timer/RU Patch"

Then all that's need is to figure out how to activate it when the user selects a MP game. Although I personally like the timer in SP game play.

Mod stands for Modification nothing more.
    Patch means fixing somin.

Not to hard to figure out which this little file falls under, lol. Its just a very small and simple modification/addition that don't require anything, and it works with everything.

Your free to include it in your own stuff JMScorp. I'm sure atleast 5 people have contributed to these paltry 30lines of code, lol. From the wiki info, to implimenting it in the file, to some small adjustments i made myself. Its nothing big, and its been done before in the conplex mod i believe. Remember this isn't like a model or script that took ages to make, its just basic stuff from the RDN documents, so your free to use it and no credit is needed.

It may be a small thing to people who know what they're doing, but I currently lack the knowledge to do such a thing, so thank you very much.

No, it's not really a patch, it is more of a feature addition to the UI.

Khar, if you want something similar in your mod, use the code in your main gamerule function. You'll have to change the text display functions, though, Mikail is saying that dr_text2d would be out of scope there.

    very cool, thanks!

    nice

    good work

you could also have it displayed on the resource bar. I say so because i have the suspect that the autoexec file might be the cause for some out-of-syncs in multiplayer. so i transferred it to the resource bar, as a rule in the game rules.

Yes it doesn't matter who has it and who doesn't it won't affect MP, though everyone should have it :P, easy to install and rather useful.
