I Have just been given COH: OF with a new graphics card, have installed it, and now on the first page the option to create an account is greyed out, so how am I meant to be able to play this game?

Your connection to the server is probably not ok, you need to open ports on your router, if you use one, you will need to configure or close firewall and other software disturbing the connection.
Check some of the stickies.
well, I'm pretty sure I have a connection to the server (I'm a Network admin) but, I did check just incase and can confirm that I have a connection, but the register option is greyed out, the only thing I can do is update or login (if had an account) - so do I need to fully update before I can register or something?

Yes, I think you need to patch up before login in.
Latest version is 2.300 .
