Updating on Vista

Hi,
my friend has a problem with updating to 1.1 on Vista.
The .msi doesn't like to run on Vista, is there any way to update without using it, or is there an alternative patch for Vista?
(The game installed fine and it runs fine, just the 1.1 .msi update isn't working.)

I ran the update on my wifes Vista so I can tell you it works on the home version. Apart from that I dont know

I've also had no problems with the 1.1 update or the Insect Invasion mod or creature unlockers either.
