I've often wondered who made up the names for things in the HW universe. There's so much, it almost seems like a language.

A race I think should be included is the species w/ borg cubes controlled by assimilated cows who wear "real california cheese" banners. (Your culture will adapt to milk US!) J/K!
Yea, Kadeshi are really cool. Power, speed, and really fast fuel consumption. I guess they thought, "the faster the better" eh?

There are two kadeshi mods I know of. The TvK mod which is not finished. And another Kadeshi mod. You could find the other at HWU I believe. And data on the progress of TvK at HWU too

Well, since we're on the subject(temporarily):
Things have stalled a bit as of recent, due to exams and other time-consuming events getting in the way.
Sabin's sanity is still in question as of this time.

Many of the words of the "Kushan" language came from an actual race of people who formed the Kushan Empire along the Silk Road in central asia. These people began as a race of wandering nomads. Eventually, they were attacked by the ruthless xion-gnu, or huns, and were sent into exile thousands of miles west into the Gobi Desert. They founded several large groups, which they called kiiths. Later, they adopted the name the Kushan. Eventually, one of their chieftains went insane and killed all the other leaders and lead a triumphiant campaign against the hun owned land in cnetral asia, winning back land from their ancient conquerors and forming a new empire...
The bentusi is a reflection of the caravans that ran back and forth along the "ancient trade routes" or silk road.
The kadesh represent the other groups of kushanese that the single chieftain defeated.
In fact, most of the story (except for the whole hyperspace thing) is based losely on this real historical tale.
here are some basic race tables that I made on my own
Kushan = Kushan
Taiidan = Xion-gnu
Kadeshi = one of several "kiiths" defeated by the Kushan chieftain
Bentusi = traders along the routes
Raiders = Barbarians that would attack the Kushan armies due to their relative weakness in comparison to the Xion-gnu.

Cool rebel, I'd looked up some of that stuff before, but hadn't seen that amount of detail. I know a lot of the names are taken from human history... but not that the story was so similar to real life.

No, I didn't look in the first place. I assumed he'd come to know it by other means, I've had homeworld games these years and never thought to look up the language online, despite being interested in it. Although, I didn't consider it had come from real-life™, when I said I wondered who made it up I thought it had been some creative type at Relic with a gift for etymology.
