    Update..

Beta nearly ready to kick off.. Karandras, Jones, Morat, WhiteShield, and others have really shown some initiative and helped move the project forward. We'll be asking for testers but, meh.. don't have our hopes up we'll find any.

Btw, WHITESHIELD.. PLEASE AGAIN CLEAN OUT YOUR MAILBOX HERE.. trying to reply to you!

  2. #702
Seriously? Like, can I volunteer as a tester?

heheh.. but does anyone really want to join the inner circle? Come off it man..

We'll be taking testers soon.. beta forum has been reserved.

  4. #704
Glad to see this mod moving.

Could I...make textures? Fine tune icons? Write lines for the UCS?

There was a suggestion to make some visual markers for DA doctrine choices.
During a very brief comeback into modding I made it in FX form:

This is a golographic projection that can be displayed somewhere on HQ once respective doctrine is selected.

    make textures?
Mostly Done. Whiteshield and Kanadras has graciously donated time to finish the last minor bits.
    Fine tune icons?
Largely completed but we're open for suggestions once you see it.
    Write lines for the UCS?
Oh brotha loonng time done man.

DA project was founded in Spring '08 so its one of the youngest MAJOR DoW1 faction mod projects. You will pretty much FROTH OVER your cauldron once you experience it from top to bottom. Its a SOLID gig.

@SKinnie.. dear gawd man that would rock for our three branch selections when the user chooses one of them. We should chat..

  8. #708
Argh! How can I compete with that? Effects are even more foreign to me than modeling! Ooh, I think I just caught a mouse...yes!

@Chiu.. wasn't aware your skills go into 3d and textures. :O

  10. #710
What? I wasn't aware of that either. I thought I was saying just the opposite. Unless "just caught a mouse" means something I didn't know it meant...I was just talking about a kind of small mammal.

K d00d don't go all cryptic on me. You sound like a all-around modder with quotes like:

Could I...make textures? Fine tune icons? Write lines for the UCS?

  12. #712
Those are all 2D and 1D stuff. I may not be great at them, but I can manage. Once there are three and four dimensions involved I get a little lost.

I wouldn't want to trouble you with additional project(s) unless you have the free cycles. DA is nearly complete but other ones may someday soon need your expertise.

Regardless... having you and others in the DA beta likely will add considerable value.

Sorry, jut gotta ask what 1D and 4D stuff is modding-wise... (especially 1D, that's beyond my ken)
Thud, just don't dabble in things Man wasn't meant to know or poke, this sounds hex-fishy. ;P

We look to the heavens so that one day our children may look back towards home.

  15. #715
I'd call 1D anything that involves writing, which is linear, and maybe coding?
4D would have to be animating 3D models in time.

  16. #716
Basically. I suppose that I'm just making excuses for the fact that I'm not very familiar with any of the software used for doing 3D models and animation work...but I'm sure the extra dimensions are at least part of the reason why.

Anyway, Dark Angels are awesome, and I want to play with them as soon as possible. It would also be fun to be part of the Beta, so there's that.

@Chiu - I'm part of the beta, and let me just say, that it is awesome.

@Thud - inbox cleaned. but dude, just pm me at yahoo. I don't check relicnews as often as I did.
also a request - can you please replace the Terminator, Tactical, Assault and Veteran models from Purgation of Kaurava? its the most up to date in terms of models, and by up to date, I mean that they are more scaled and have more weapon options.

    Take that offline bro...

  19. #719
indeed, the mod has been in development for so long that there are new, non-vanilla models already, and they are 10 times better in every respect... while in the DA mod it's the same old stuff we had for years + some kitbashing...

  20. #720
Yes, but that's something that can't be just changed overnight after all the hard work put on this mod. It'd be a lot of wasted effort, me thinks.

It was just a trolling. Michael1980 tried to say that the models is above than a gameplay, AI, look&feel and other stuff.

  23. #723
But models ARE the look & feel of the mod, aren't they?
Will you play vanilla DOW1 + better AI?
in any case, best wishes to the creators of the mod!

FOK rulez, as alwasy, Jones - you are da man!

  27. #727
I still don't follow the meaning, but nice shots of the interrogator-chaplain and the commander.

    ----------

Or would Ezekiel be the commander? As a Grand Master--well. I'll just have to wait to see, won't I.

  28. #728

Meh.. figured there'd be no takers for the Inner Circle..

Skill testing question: Who is Azrael's sidekick, what do they hold in their hands, and what species is he/she/it rumoured to be?

    See.. no interest..

  43. #743
Oh, was that irony or did i miss something there? The rock if i remember correctly is their current headquarter in an asteroid or something left from the remains of caliban.

  44. #744
    1. watcher in the dark
    2. the lion helm
    3. no one knows but maybe some type of xenos? but that seems unlikely... I never thought about a squat before, I'll go with that

the dark angles are my favorite chapter and I would love to help you all out if you need more beta testers.

Private beta commences mid-week.. so we'll need to transition the testers over to revora. Its taken the DA team since Spring'08 to finally see this gem of a project reach this incredible milestone. So very pleased how far they have made it considering the obstacles.

  49. #749
it would be very-very-very nice if you guys could show us a pic of your DA bikes
