    after monthes of intense battle the CMPII team is proud to release the second Community Map Project please gave any feed back via this thread :








    WARNING

    THERE WAS A SCAR ERROR IN THE DARK CRUSADE VERSION IT CAN BE CORRECTED BY DOWNLOADING THE NEW SCAR FILE HERE :


    instruction to fix:
    just overwrite the "cmp_2_map_project_DC.SCAR" located in
    "Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\DXP2\Data\scenarios\mp" folder with the new one. (file properties should read:"created 30.09.2008 00:34:01, "last modified 30.09.2008 01:58:26 and size is 13,394 ko)

    From now this thread will be the official update and support center for the CMPII; i'll update it with screenshot, dev news and link to any media related to the CMPII.
    Here you will find all you need to enjoy the CMPII game.

    A brief history :
    This project was first initiated by Forlornhope in March 2008, some monthes later and after some monthes locked inside the adeptus modificatus think tank the CMPII is slowy heading toward completion.

    CMPII spec:

    Compatibility:
    the CMPII will come in two versions, one for Dark Crusade and one for Soul Storm, because of the scar associated to the map.
    type : 8 player map. tailored for online play.
    size: 1024x1024. Nine different areas done by different mappers.

    --SPECIAL RULES --

    This map is 1024x1024. To minimize the distance between players and to spice the game we decided to add teleporting gates to the map. For the fisrt time in the map history you'll be able to choose you destination (stargate inspired) from the gate control panel to another gate on the map.

    This is the same CMP2 that's ongoing Mosh, only that thread was a sprawling mess. However, I'm sure if there's enough enthusiasm then a CMP3 would be a possibility

    Well, this project has taken a new leader, a few new mappers, and an entirely new concept, and has taken them all past everyone's expectations. It's about time it got a new thread!

    Update on trailer,
    Ive started filming and Its all going good, its just I can only film the areas I've got (obviously).
    The trailer should be about 2 mins so I've done the planning, just need to finish it now

    wait until you have a peer ingame at my area and i think the trailer will jump to a three minute one.
    if you really need it to shoot some scenes putting the Contagion cruiser i may transmit the decals to you.

    Someone *cough*jaguarlord*cough* will need to sort out things like Jack's missing webway and the SCAR markers etc after all the pieces are in place.

    There will be work to do after each mappers completed his area.

    1)verify impass map and pathing
    2)create ways between continent, bridges and chest high water passges, for ground assault.

    3)complete sea bottom texturing and shores texturing
    4)verify gate and critical position
    set fog/light/shadow/water/sky parmaeters properly.

    5)add every markers and egroupps to the map and name them properly....
    6) add special scar rules for tailored and nasty surprise....
    7)debug scar code phase
    8)alpha test phase on skirmish testing all player position
    9) redo and correct issues
    10) beta testing: online test. this will require some good coordination between eight players because we'll need to find overlapping time zone and players with highbandwidth internet connection.
    11) corect issues and solve problems
    12) run the loading screen contest and choose one
    12a) make the promotinal move....
    13) make the installer and TEST IT !!!
    14)more beta test on private release
    15)more solving on problems
    16)have some coffee....and rest
    17)RELEASE !!!!!!
    18)prepare the CMPIII project.....(a multiplayer campaign....)

    path between areas enabled 100% --one bridge added between Eldar area and north area.
    error caused by building on impassible terrain : 60%(--need more work because it is flooding the console....)

    because i'm amusing myself with Frozen Impact and with the FX editor and with creating new Fx object and with managing this forum (i added some flesh to the fluff section btw..) and with mapping for the Crusade of Pennance cmapign and mapping for Darkness Within campaign and doing some loading screen for the CMPII and.....god i'm a bit busy tese days !!

    about a gate at jack area: there's is already a gate at Jake area, a webway gate that can be used as a teleportation gate without any problem with fluff or code. i already change the critical and put it near this webway

    About the Loading screen :

    what about making eight separate loading screen one for each race?
    each loading screen could be downloadable separatly as free aditional ressource. I think i'm gonna make some for the Chaos Race and for the necron race.

    I find it lacks cruely of Necron Presence on this worl....if ever Nerdsturm is not showing itself quick it may be too late for him to have anything left but the sea bottom !! (i will make something special for the necrons up north very special....)

    I've never seen anyone make multiple loading screens for a map before. I'm sure it can be done, but surely it's not as simple as just putting the loading screens into the folder and saying it's done. They have to have a specific name, don't they? So would making multiple ones even work?

    If it is clear enough for Fuggles it should be clear for everyone else....
    As Fuggles understood it very well, the purpose is only to add customization potential to the CMPII.
    Example: if you are a Chaos Khorne monomaniac like me when playing DoW (95% on 500+ game) you may feel better having a Khornate oriented loading screen, with powerfull symbol of your favorite race strenghtening your resolve before game start !

    If you don't feel like it, np..

    and about making a random loading screen it is not that dificult but may requires that we make it ........a MOD !!!
    (but no one had the cojones to dive for a mod at the time...perhaps next CMP!)

    I'd be all for a mod, except that it would kill map play. People aren't going to load up a mod just to play one map. Even if it's an incredibly awesome map. Which this map will be.

    I was thinking something like a SM or Imperial parade ground type thing, but I have a tendency to change what I'm doing so often that I don't bother making very in detail plans.

    Sincerely, there's already two IG/SM area done on the map, so if you could go Necron i'll be more than pleased and i think others would be pleased too. If you want i can send you all the necron object from SS under a mod ready to map for you to have fun mapping the necron themed area.

    This is a complete biased statement and you have nothing to prove your point because it has never been done before. If you prefer to stick mapping with the same old object and reuse them again and again it is your choice.
    There's absolutly nothing difficult in extracting an archive and putting it in you DoW extension main folder, launching your game via the main menu mod management (wich mean cliking on a button and say "yes, please activate the CMPII mod").
    Wich map play is it going to kill? nada ! There's absolutly no difference with launching any other mod.
    ahh...yes...you have to read the readme.txt instruction "how to properly set the CMPII.module file to make this mod compatible with every other mod already instaled on your computer..."the readme? you mean that useless pice of crap i never take time to read?" "yes Ira, absolutly".

    Advantage of a map mod : custom screens, custom object, custom scar, custom voices, custom FX brand new awesome fragging EVERYTHING.....What you don't want to admit is that if you work is "incredibly awesome" people will do everything they can do to experience it and play your map.
    IDH mod and AS mod are "incredibly awesome" and have been downloaded by thousands of people even if some things were bugged and not working.

    "your going to have to" ???!! It was a "NO" the first time and given the way you ask this it is nearly a "NEVER" today. Your were assuming right.
    You want to make a Nurgle themed map (Crusade Penance project maybe??) i'm afraid you are going to create your own decals unless you give me a very good reason for me to do otherwise.Pm me.

    I was wondering, should I put a lower number of strat points, ect. due to the fact a player won't be starting there, though I assume I'll still put a portal.
    Also, does that mean that I don't necessarily need to leave an open area large enough for a base?

    Fuglles is it possible to have a random starting location ? like random spawning of a starting loc and despawning of an other? or this would completly fail at game start? sync error door.....

    If not i suggest you put up to the number of start point and relicna d slag...as you pleased.

    and i have to discuss scar matters for necron with Fuggles.

    IDH and AS are awesome. But IDH and AS aren't one map. The success of full-race mod cannot be used to prove the success of a one map mod.

    Despite what you think, I would download a one map mod if it were really an awesome, mind blowing map. Looking back at my post I see I was unclear. I was trying to say I think it will severely limit the amount of people who play the map, if the mod is just for one map.

    Now, if you had multiplayer campaign, or even multiple maps in a mod, then that would entice a greater amount of people to download the mod.

    I miss the happy JL.

    I think that he probably just meant that he would make a mod that allowed me to place them, but that the map could still be read from vanilla SS.
    I'm doing fine with the decent number of necron objects from DC, so it hasn't been necessary anyways.

    As stated by Fuggles some times ago the CMPII will be available in two version: one for DC and one for SS, obviously injecting SSnecrons object into DC will turn the CMPII into a "SoulStorm like" mod for DCAND THIS IS NOT LEGAL.

    But if we plan to make a the CMPII verison for SS we could make it with the SS objects. This wont be a mod because it is using SS content on a map made for SS.
    Yes, it means that we first complete the map for DC and implement the scar markers and egroups and then i'll duplicate the map and inject the Necrons object from SS onto the map to get the SSversion of the CMPII.

    Mind you this is only a proposition.

    In regards to starting points - if there is one on my area then please move it to yours Nerdsturm. The original set up was this:



    which got confused as things went on. I haven't tried moving start points but I don't think it would work as the players have to start there and the SCAR will start 1/8 of a second after that. It might be possible to pick up and move players afterwards, but I think for the sake of simplicity we should stick with the plan.

    IMPORTANT - if you want any SCAR doing then ask me ASAP. As of probably Tuesday I am not going to be able to play DoW until September, and even then there is no guarantee I can get anything big done as I am away for the weekend.

    If it is all right with everyone else, I am going to connect the island between my area in the upper left and the IG fortress (I believe it was the area done by Necoho) to both of those regions as both of the players starting in those areas are only connected to one other area at this point, which seems unfair as all other players are connected to at least two.
