Warwickshire eh. Well That's not too far from Brum.

Colonel Temp - It's about an hour's drive from where I'm situated in B'ham (Edgbaston). Probably closer when regarding Solihull.
I wouldn't know how to get there though, as I'm a student (thus not having a car). Train goes there?

I was never interested in this at first, but I just saw 'Stratford' and I thought 'what the hell' I could go to that, it's literaly down the high street from me. Then I see you're talking about this Warwickshire business and not east London... shame...
... Come Stratford anyway, there's an internet cafe and a "Al's Halal Fried Chicken" next to it. Gangster.

Zany- Well I live closer to Solihull than the City Centre, I'm on the eastern edge of Birmingham actually. I'd have to get a lift there either way.
#209
Stratford is highly supported by multiplay.org, and the event will not move simply because you cannot attend. That said, its extremely well connected. I believe the train station is directly next to the venue, making it very easy to get off the train and attend the event.
You should check out Priority Vox Channel Secundus, a blog!

Stratford is pretty close to me, I'll still be attending.
Colonel Temp - I've checked the train times, & it takes roughly an hour to get to Stratford-upon-Avon from Birmingham.
#213
From Marylebone station in London it'll take me just under two and a half hours. Oh whatever, I'll be there I imagine.

Good to see this is moving again. Now, to poke the people who said they'd be coming and haven't said anything yet.

If I can come, I'll either get a train from London, stay with family in Bath and get driven, or if the situation demands it get a friend to fly me in his (tiny two seater) private jet.![]()
Hmm, interesting.
I will try to come but I'm a busy third year student and work seems to love eating my free time. ^_^

What exactly is happening here? Is there going to be a meeting? I believe #tabletop from IRC are going to meet up sometime, but am not sure what's happening here. Hope this can happen, would be very cool.

Status update please - is this LAN thing happening or not?
Status updates edited into the first post would be good.
#223
bah. Basically I've been too busy being buried under work, but I've got some rest days coming up - I've seen that THQ are having LAN parties in the US and Canada, but as ever Europe is that one step too far...*sniff*
As no-one has really come up with a great venue in the UK or nearby countries, I'll try one more time to find someone interested to host a knees up, or else maybe we have smaller regional get togethers instead.

Hmm, good work fuggles. At the risk of sounding like a negator though, Canterbury is frikkin' miles away, as in, it'll be generally be further away for a lot more people than any other venue mentioned so far I reckon. Still, canterbury is better than nothing.

It certainly is, and good job Fuggles for your effort. IGUK lists there as being three LAN centres for gaming in London (I also came across Lanarchy but there seemed little explanation as to where it actually was besides 'north London'), though the one with forty PCs only seems to have ten for gaming upon further inspection (Kex-i), one's closed due to a break-in in Decemeber (Red-I Computing) and the Weblounge is also limited by only having ten PCs. That and a less-than-informative website.
Hmm.
I think having to bring your own PCs is going to cause more problems than solve.![]()
#228
@Kirjava - yup. I found that too.
We can always not go to canterbury, just putting it out there.
So long as it isn't the weekend of Easter I'm in. Don't think I've actually got any mid-terms this year so around late March I'm in
As for place, anywhere I can get by train from London/Liverpool/anywhere with an international airport is fine.

The potential problem of 'bring your own computer' is an issue, but I would still be up for doing it even if it means lugging a computer around. Early April is my birthday, but that would be epic. So yeah whenever is cool with me.
Let's do this thing, would be awesome if we could.
#231
Bring Your Own Computer would suck because mine won't run DoW2![]()
#232
What about Gamerbase?
Was browsing the internet for centres in London and came across this. Worth a shout, and they have computers already there. Decent computers. Plus it's in London.
Ahh, this makes my heart ache
Wish I could join you guys, this sounds like awesome fun. A damn good job by Fuggles.

I'm on holiday at Easter already. Have a great time
#235
Gamerbase in London is fairly decent. Better than a bring your own place.
#236
Gamerbase does look pretty cool. Fuggles...?

Sounds good to me. No BYOPC works for my current situation. I currently have a watercooled titanic monstrosity that I dare not move from it's current location.
I HAS WRITTEN A BOOK!
As soon as the cover artist, proof reader and everything else I rely on other people to do is done, I'll let you know.
I'm in so long as it's not during Easter.
#241
Sometime after Easter would be good - I have a feeling certain university students will be (or should be) revising at that point.
And the Gamerbase is a good idea. I've been there once already, so finding it will be easy enough.
#242
Ok, you'll have to help me out with major revision periods and stuff.
#243
Hmm, interesting. Good work fuggles. When Gamerbase was mentioned I figured it would be really expensive being in the Trocadero in the middle of London, but £25 for all Saturday seems pretty reasonable (I think Saturday is much better than Sunday). So it'll just be a one day affair then? I don't think staying over anywhere in London which an option for many people.
#244
Okay fuggles, I'll talk to Sword and Bowkers (I know they're both students) to check when they're going to be (or should be) busy. Anyone else in here a student and therefore have major cramming sessions planned around Easter/summer term?
#246
Basically between easter and June i'll be revising, followed by exams, followed by buggering off to canada, so that plus money issues counts me out altogether really
I'm a student, but I don't really have anything to revise for until late April (28th is my first exam, iirc),
#248
Hokay, after Easter is good, pretty much anytime (weekends/fridays). Those weekend passes sound ver ver niiiice.
10-24 is a good amount of time, and they'll likely have DoW 2, we'll be pretty good at hex-editing by then, and possibly even have some real mods. Perhaps some of us could get together a DoW + DoW2 mod pack with maps and victory conditions (Fuggles!) and stuff in, premade for ease.
Also if we are going to be there til midnight it's going to make it hard to get away from Londontown by train. So I suggest we call upon our might insomniac reserves of stamina and pull an all nighter til the morning at some form of 24 hour pub. Of course we'd plan ahead and find said pub, but right now I'd like to guage interest.
#249
#250
All-nighter is out of the question for me, but I'm fine with just going leaving a bit earlier even if you guys are carrying on.
