In single player its a gravwell+defense field. mp its only defense
also Talro's carrier concept made it in game.
Dude, that is so awesome! All your interpretation are correct, great work. ;D
Whisper can't be human... dude...seriously.... if you can learn to code well you're basically a one man modding team... you should seriously look into a future in the domain 3D modelling as I've never, ever seen such talent outside of professional teams (be them CG film crews or game development crews).

Thud! Terry Pratchett.
thanks for the positive feed back guys, still a whole lot to do. We are hoping by the end of next week to make a small trailer, and in 2 weeks time, if there are enough ships hodded/scripted we might make a small release to a select few.
as well, still looking for a animator, even if you can do basic animation paths, we need you. =)
If you need any more hodding done just let me know bro. I'll do it. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a model with some turrets.
definitely, i believe Talros is working on some concepts. Hopefully i can start them sometime today or tomorrow
hey guys heres some recent stuff that has been done =D please enjoy.
NOTE: Since these were taken some ships have since been updated, most have had quite a few changes and updates.
6 ships so far have either been completed or are still being tweaked or worked on, the list is as follows.
titan ioncannonfrigate (complete)
Heres a quick demo video of the ship yard, however, i should mention that a fully built up ship yard that has a cap facility and a repair dock is about 4-5 times as "thick" as the center chassis alone.
The repair dock is complete but is not shown in the video, also the cap bay facility is still a work in progress.
Another one bites the dust, the mesh is done, small texture glitch( team color didnt line up right)
Please let me know what you think, I ran this without a single sketch, or a single concept image. Worked it out of this tiny brain of mine. Somewhat pleased with its look, rear engines are in the style of the Titan Battle cruiser, the front frigate bay, loosely modeled on the Agamemnon concept.
It still needs docking points, and hard points, etc, build point, module points, etc. in total i think it has about 15 spots for buildable point. I will have to check that over to verify.
Again, have to credit moleman for getting it into hod form. Cheers

i must say it looks a lot better up here than my screenshots, on that note ill probably have the HOD completed by tonight, and then i can get to fixing the sajuuk-ka that complex messed up and then ill be on to the trailer
sounds good, im working on talros's concept for the destroyer. I made a bomber mesh, well about 50 different ones, at the end, didn't like any of them. Now im resorting to using paper and pen to sketch something that i might remotely like.
Any artists reading this, if you would like to draw concept art for the mod, let me know
On another note, we might possibly be getting one more member(texture and 3d modeler.)
Amazing work as always! Those ships are beautiful.
I like that the shipyard has a similar engine to the cruiser, it stood out and gives it a nice bit of character. The outer structures (sorry, not sure what to call them, the things with the yellow/black caution stripes) are also a very nice touch, makes it feel the part of a shipyard. The front frigate bay is also cool. My only criticism of it would be that it's, well, a box. Just thinking of the Kunn-Lan, capital ships were built underneath the hangar bay (which ties into the carrier's large belly bay very nicely). Maybe experiment with that?
WARNING: The above post may contain words, or traces of words.
Thanks for the feedback, always nice to know somebody is watching ad can provide good criticism.
The yellow and black caution striped objects are there to connect the repair dock with the center structure, 'chassis' if you will. The repair dock is fairly thin compared to the rest of the ship, logically it didn't seem as if it would provide a lot of rigidity and didn't look like it would last. I added two support struts that extend from the bottom repair dock, to the mid center of the chassis.
The top area, capital production facility is, like you said, essentially a hollow box which sits in place. However, on the rear of the cap facility is a curved extension which leads to the rear engine top. Perhaps to provide some type of building material? Seemed like a good idea to portray some realism. It never made much sense where the building material was stored on the hiigaran ship yard, seemed too thin to house any necessary building supplies.
The box idea seemed good, practical, usable and easy to build. With this lay out its impossible to avoid the "bath tub" comments, since HW 2 released in 2003, people have been saying the vayrg ship yard looks like a bath tub. The model does the trick, and more then satisfies what i need it to do, produce, repair, and supply. Hopefully once when we make our first release you can see the detail, and that it does seem a little bit more impressive up close and personal.
I tried once before experimenting with exterior construction, but its just not possible with the hw2 engine. It needs to be internal.
Again, thanks for the constructive feed back, always much appreciated.
p.s. in 2 to 3 weeks time we are making a private release, moleman and I will be selecting 4 people to play a 2vs2 match online. Let me know if your interested.
Defintely, interested. Defintely. What would you be using. Hamachi, right?
more thank likely, we'll keep people with in the select group updated, for right now im designing a special map for this select group of privilaged people to play test on
I'd be up for it but be warned: I suck massively and that's when I used to play HW2 online... haven't in about a year if not more but I'm willing to give it a try.
the test will be more to see how people use ships, and if they are used as intended. We don't want to make an overly complicated mod that you cant get the hang of quickly. Secondary goal of the test is for the tester to report glitches, ie: certain sip wont dock, engine glow isn't right, bc wont fire this and that. etc.... scoping out bugs in the greater sense. third and final goal is to balance the game properly. With the addition of new content, we also have to make sure everything is scripted properly, and has its equal side on the opposing team
during the 2vs2, me and moleman will spectate the game, I think moleman will bring popcorn, so should be a good time
on another note, we need to get content into the game, we have a heap of stuff that is back logged right now, a few new frigates for the hiigs, new resource collector for the titans and a few industrial models.
as for the 4 selected, we will notify them a few days before the test. You will receive the link to the download a few hours before the match. The link we stay up only for a few hours to make sure it stays private
again; to apply just drop a msg in my inbox, or post in this thread.
Here is something I cooked up today, a Tiidan assault frigate.
Sorry about the lack of the mothership, but I am having trouble formulating it. I have a good idea for one now, and should have one shortly.

"Sorry, you can not add yourself to your own buddy list."
It looks good, it has a lot of style qs from the concept i posted earlier.
Hope to have the mother ship concept soon, eager to start modeling it.
The turrets don't look Taiidan... unless you're going for republican taiidan *scratches head*
That is a really neat looking ship, but doesn't look very Taiidan. Looks very much like that current titan-naam frigate hull.
another thing you guys will be happy about is that this will be the second mod to bring animated menu's to the table, so if you think youve got one worthy of being in the mod as the main menu screen, URL it and send a link to me and we'll see very excited about this part
Isn't the Titan Naam a Taiidan Carrier? What is the race Whisper is working on now? That is a really neat looking ship, but doesn't look very Taiidan. Looks very much like that current titan-naam frigate hull.
the Titan-Naam are a new race, in no way related to the taiidan, they are the ones that were on the other side of the super gate, an old race. check the moddb page for ingame screen's for a sort of style assesment
we do have a story up, read it! lol kidding,
Titan naam are a old race re-invisied. The story will explain it better
Gah, the story keeps changing lol. Arn't they the Somtaaw?
And speaking of carriers, what sort of weapons will the carrier and cruiser be sporting?
uh...no not the somtaaw, the carrier sports the average auto guns of a carrier, but the cruiser is different than most cruisers, the race, seeing how much energy it takes to power a single ion cannon decided to put their turrets to a different use and instead implimented Rapid-Fire Heavy Plasma Bomb Turrets pretty powerfull i might add.
From page 1
As they exit the other side, they are greeted by Titan-Naam, No longer a mining Kith, the once Kiith-Somtaaw stand before the Hiigarans with a fleet rivaling that of the 15th...
...Within Titan, there are Two Hyperspace event gates. One leads to the Hiigaran Galaxy(Eye of Aran) and another leads to Ragnarok Galaxy. The Naam (Somtaaw)...I'm confused.uh...no not the somtaaw
they are the somataaw, moleman made a small mistake.
Once they entered The Titan galaxy, they no longer felt the need to go by their own Kiith name.
Plasma bombs aren't too energy efficient either... you're better off going for a torch ship if you truly wanna make em feel unique.
Yeah, a close range capital ship that uses plasma torches(which are fed raw plasma from the ship's reactors) to basically slice apart an enemy ship, it would be a ship with good speed, rather weak armour and EM weapons to slow down its prey.
I like the idea of using an emp attack to slow down prey. Somewhat ify on using plasma torches tho.
Why does no one recognize my genius? *weeps*
Seriously though... it would be a very destructive weapon but it would be near-point blank.
Ah ok, makes sense now.
EMP would fit in well with the Somtaaw, they used them in their ACV's.
I just have a small request, give the carrier some guns! Where the Kushan Imperator class carrier has 4 small point-defense railguns that do 10 damage, the Somtaaw Shaman class carrier was equiped with 4 medium mass driver turrets that do 30 damage (and later energy cannons that do 60, more than a Kushan Assault Frigate's turrets!). The same applied to the Kuun-Lan when compared to the Kushan Mothership. Where the Mothership couldn't kill an angry probe armed with nothing but bad language, the Kuun-Lan's mass driver turrets could eat up fighter wings and corvettes, and even lone frigates when neccessary.
Now I'm not saying slap some ion cannons on there, but maybe a few small or medium turrets to make the carrier less of a sitting duck. It would certainly add a new dynamic to the strategy. (And heck, how cool would it be to see a carrier with some mass driver turrets supporting it's fighters, like a WWII carrier's deck guns. Plus it'll give them a chance to escape if their fighters are destroyed.
With the removal of fuel in HW2, carriers just become production-spammers and Ru drop off's once you have battlecruisers with docking bays, and less of a support ship.
Battlecruisers take ages to repair strike craft, carriers don't take as long.
I like the idea of using an emp attack to slow down prey. Somewhat ify on using plasma torches tho
Not an emp attack maybe but more like a grappling beam that could slow down eneimies or pull them in much like the apocalypse tank in ra3. when they got pulled in they could get cut up by plasma torches
Why does no one recognize my genius? *weeps*
I recognise it
Its a really good idea
depending on which race. (what race is it for)
try to get onto this for me, just try to visit it...
actually we re-worked how the carrier class operatates in SoT.
Titan Carriers will be able to produce Destroyers, also have high defenses, low ofenses.
The mother ship can no longer build a Carrier, but can build a smaller carrier which can only produce fighters, corvettes and resourcers. the smaller carrier has lower defenses, but is very efficient vs anti fighters.
This will hopefully give the user two options, option 1: A carrier that can sit on the front line and take a beating while having a constant supply stream of fighter craft and the odd destroyer. This carrier for instance wont have a RU drop off point so it wont cant be used for RU gathering or RU operations
2nd option: Light Carrier. With its low defenses and high anti fighter/corvette offenses, its more suitable for mining operations or outpost set up. It can produce utility craft 40% quicker then the MS or any other ship, has 4 Ru drop offs, can build fighters/utility craft only.
this will give the user a more dynamic game, while still not changing much of the game aspect.
Me too; I'd like to use this idea at some point for a frigate or something belonging to a Galactic Council race. Not the race I'm working on now, mind you, because it wouldn't quite be their style, but certainly some species. Why does no one recognize my genius? *weeps*
I recognise it
Thats' actually a really cool idea if you can get it to balance, I like it! Would the larger carrier be hyperspaced in?
no, its built by the ship yard, its the current titan carrier that was made by talros.
The Titans will need the heavy Carrier to build Destroyers, but MS will not construct heavy carriers... so shipyard will do it, but shipyard alreads constructs destroyers! so there will be little use to heavy carriers!
Mothership build the heavy carriers too would solve that!
Sorry my bad english
actually a carrier that can build destroyers would have alot of use on the front lines of a battle.
I can see his point though, it might be a waste of RU's. While one player will be building a heavy carrier, the other could have a destroyer or two ready to rock. All the more reason to give it guns
Something else you might want to toy around with, what about no shipyard at all? It would fit the Somtaaw very well, and would justify the need for a heavy carrier quite nicely. Then again, it would be quite radical...
How about instead of a shipyard some sort of scafolding structure? It could build large ships (super-capitals) and strike craft but would have 3 major disadvantages vs the heavy carrier (slow speed, low defenses and innability to build frigates or destroyers).
How about this, making simple:
--Light Carrier (Fast speed, lower defenses, cheap)
--Heavy Carrier (Slow speed, some defenses, bit more expensive)
--Scaffold ('Battle' types, almost stationary, no defenses )
--Scaffold ('Support' types, almost stationary, no defenses)
It would be something like 'four buildings trees', each depending to another but someway independant... Just an ideia ^^

recording of the old animated menu, and possible old menu song, i was informed by a friend that EA might get after us for using the song, so im going to have to speak with whisper2me about changing it to something else that i have found.
(apparently my recording program really glitched up during the video recording so it flickers alot)
The truth is, when it comes to creating ships for pre-existing races it's all about the textures. I think the ship looks very Taiidan. Reminds me of the dome shaped defense fighters the taiidan had in HW1, or whatever they were called.
