    I thought I would post this as proof of not being dead. It was up until about two weeks ago, finals time for me here at university. As no doubt you can imagine, pretty much my whole year has been a busy one, so i've not had masses of time to work on mods. But I now appear to have a wealth of free time, for now. So I'm endeavouring to continue work on the Death Korps. So here I have a mostly work in progress (but also pretty finished) model for our Death Korps Grenadier.

    The Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists, Kantor is the living example of everything these stubborn, courageous warriors strive to be. He's equipped with a powerful modified storm bolter and can wreak havoc in close combat with his power fist but perhaps his greatest advantage lies in the special rule he passes on to Sternguard units. Any Sternguard Veteran squads in the force gain the Hold The Line! special rule, which makes them scoring units.

    Huzzah, more work is being done, the proof is in the pudding. Another infantry model is mostly complete:



    The Death Korps Engineers are our builder and 'general purpose' unit. They build things, lay mines, dig trenches and blast people with their shotguns.

    While modelling is fully covered in this mod, animation is a field we're lacking skills in and time for, so this is a rather interesting offer.     Lleman, Do you use Softimage CAT for modeling/animating ?

    Julian works with MAX for modelling; we have no animator, Kresjah used to painstakingly x-ref through his arcane means (prolly an OE thing, innit?) but no DKoK model has been subjected to animations.

    Well, honestly the pillbox structure hasn't been designed, by lack of attention from my part. However, the idea was to have something with a footprint larger than that of the turret indeed and evidently garrisonable but not with the usual IG tunnel-transport usually provided by the Bunker ability.
    But as i said, by a lapse of mine this has never been explored.

    I think, the "tunnel-transport" possibility/ability are fit to DKoK background more, than to the current Cadians vanilla IG. Of course, I understand that nobody want to reproduce the same gameplay style, like already present one.

    The only nag is that i find it stupid to have a tunnel ability from one structure to another miles away...
    Therefore, it's only going to be garrisonable but non-tunnel'able (sic!) (ftr, the original, candid, idea was to have tunneling possible in radius x around command centres and no further so that 'bases' become really entrenched bases and not just strucs your guys have to run around...and then Kresjah ruined my day with his 'code' thing :P)
    This means you'll have quite a few structures to leave guys in to man the guns but each of them will be an insulated area in case of overwhelming opponents. Pros and cons, as always...

    Imagine this mod released alongside the IGBIA's Tallarn, Elysian, Mordian, and Vostroyan armies as well as the Steel Legion and the Cadians. Then someone makes an extremely huge campaign based on all these IG regiments working together.

    Now throw Catachans (possible future addition) into the list. Holy shit. I can jizz in my pants at the thought of these human wave attacks.

    Progress info: R&S is currently on sideburners, our team is split in between rethinking and reworking on HHMP and working (mainly on code) on something of a surprise from one of our good friend's previously halted work (hint: it's one of those linked to in my sig :P).

    This looks really awsome. The first time I seen the DKoK, I fell in love with them and now that there is a mod for them...HURRAY!

    Also, I had some questions...

    1st: I've heard a lot of people talking about Soulstorm...will the mod only be available for Soulstorm or will it be available for Dark Crusade as well?

    2nd: Will the mod include features like Heroes or Massive Battles like in the Tyranid Mod? Because that would just be soooooo awesome.

    Again, I can't wait for the mod to be released!

    1. Yes, it's SS only since SS has functionalities that DC hasn't.
    2. We haven't given the Heroes any thoughts as of yet; as to 'Massive Battles like in the Tyranid Mod', i'm not sure to get what you mean: battles are as massive as your opponent(s) allow you to request troops and vehs (in general they tend to try and restrain you) or as the map allows for, (unless you're mixing the tyranid mod for one of the cram-all-in mods that advertise huge body-counts, in which case that's a no).

    As to a release, we'd need work on it to get anywhere forward, to be honest.

    Well, I'm kind of disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy the mod...will there be ANY chance of the mod being released for Dark Crusade in the future? Also, the Tyranid mod features a game option called "Massive Battles" which increases the Troop Cap on all armies by 10% or some thing (cap goes from 20 to 35).

    Still disappointed about the whole Soulstorm thing...

    Sorry buddy, i thought i had been explicit? We WON'T make any amend to backport to DC since DC doesn't allow as much as SS does regarding code and functionalities we want to use. We don't intend to water down the idea we have of this mod just to satisfy users who can't or won't get SS, (which you can get for a cheapass cost of 6.99€, really...)

    Plan was to have them totally TCable, as Stevocarty was preparing them. The ones you can see in the current (and aging) display are just using a temp texture which Julian slapped on for show.
    As to the Mach, plan was to have the 'naked' twin-BC turret as a base, fully upgradable to Vulcan or Vanquisher turret variants.

    Question will their morale be breakable or will they never break? Also what will the watchmasters be armed with? I really cant wait to see this. DKoK is by far my favorite imperial guard regiment and since the other DKok mod went silent your all thats left to bring these machines of men to the dow game. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    All DKoK infantry are already high morale units, with a T2 research, 'Hardened Fighters' that makes them even more resilient morale-wise. They are not unbreakable though, and will just snap once pushed too far. :P
    Attached Commissars, on the other hand, make any unit impervious to morale loss... but get hardcapped (yes, we're nasty basterds).

    I know the legend (and one atrocious BL novel) says the Death Korps are never letting the line falter, almost inhumanely so, but 1) the fluff has it otherwise (Ref. IA V-VI-VII) 2) for 'reasonable' gaming purpose it is better they sometimes break, even if it will take a lot more than for your regular guardsman to start fleeing.

    Aw that makes since. i think that the BL novel was dead men walking. i have to say that it was pretty good. Will their be plasma weapons like in the novel? Will the grenadiers be capped like the kasakin squads and if so will their be more of the squads since their arent going to be any ogres? Also what will the sergeants use for weapons?

    MP only. It's already enough work (when we [_]have time [_]feel like working on it [_]get a sudden urge for some DKoK love [_]manage to pull our hands from our arses -- tick relevant choice) without trying to pull a camp from it.

    As to Ssolrac's DK mod -even if here is not really the place to ask- last i read about and talked to him they had probs bridging from blender to max and some more troubles. Ask in their forums, this is the most likely way to know.

    Regarding help, what's your 'limited capacity' ? Help is welcome but not at the cost of teaching their trade to potential modders from the ground on.

    Sorry i wasn't sure if it was only multi-player or campaign. truth be told i really haven't played the campaign much just skirmish. And your right i don't have any experience with modding but if you needed help i was willing to learn since it seems like i have free time after my accelerated course at college here is done.     Well, no intention to kill the mod, for sure, but we're lacking in the positions mentioned before, still. My fault for the recent fuck-up, i didn't take time to respond and get in serious touch (hmmmm!!) with Baz and a friend of his in time and they now are sailing to other horizons. This means back to square one re. texturing. (The other positions never lifted off from square zero, so...)

    Hey Lleman, We may have lucked out. I saw my old roommate the other day and i was talking to him and he said that he is going to learn to texture. I was asking if he would be interested in maybe helping you guys out he said that he might be. And if he starts texturing then i can have him show me how to texture to and i may try to help you guys out. Pending your approval of course. The only problem he is a fan of the Dark Eldar.
