    MWAHAHAHA *evil grin* here's my almost finished kadeshi multi beam frigate I know it wasn't assigned to me but it's my favourite ship in the game I just HAD to make it

    Currently at 918 polygons without goblins, the engine grilles are an extra 2000 or so polys, they will be replaced with less fancy ones, these just make for nice screenies As is it's a little over 4000 polys hehe:

    now as soon as I can figure out how to edit hardpoints I'll get it into the game... ...oh yeah! I finished the cargo barge with goblins at about 1800 polys, I'll upload pics tomorrow.

    nice model, but it seems to be almost exactly the same other than the engines and some goblins. maybe you could add more goblins or something, like it looks almost identical. look at the textures more, maybe you can find more details you can put into the ship. besides you said you're going to simplify the engines (which you said take up a lot of the poly count) so i think you will have room to add more goblins.

    I think the ship looks smoother as a whole than the other, Pimpster. The textures are where things will really shine with this mod anyway, I mean the resolution can be MUCH higher than HW's. Besides, I would rather see all the nostalgic old ships return instead of the team reinventing everything. It just wouldn't be Homeworld without the same basic shapes

    humm i dont think so...its only got the gamerules for mp games...no sp or ships included...and i dont think we will use the map converter...direct convertion looks cheap
    but this will help alots for the mp scripting...the ui need modifications but will make make one like hw1..its will be better than the "more option" button

    don't drop the mb frig, just improve it, its already very good, just make it better. and yes, the textures can be far better, but the models in homeworld2 are also significantly better, afaik. right?

    Are you guys also making a 'working' Khar-Selim. It could be nice to have a complete recording of the event (just like the Kharak event) instead of only an audio file. Although the audio only has some nice feeling to it too.

    O, and the HW1 models rock... definetly... :thumb:

    BTW question, will you guys also release the HW1 ships for use in other custom mods. Provided with the right credits ofcourse..
    Because I would be interested in using some of them for my SP campaign in the future, and other people too I guess.

    WOW, That's one hell of a craft, DeathWish, looks just like bentusi cargo barge should look like imo. It's a shame you'll see it in game for only a few seconds...
    I also would wait a little with the Khar-Selim if i were you, because i remember someone (i don't remember who) posting about remodelling it. Maybe it's already in progress.

    And one more thing. I've put my first Requiem War ship in HW yesterday:


    Who cares that it's laying on its side, and, more important, it's in the wrong homeworld
    Seriously, it was more an accident than a planned action: some time ago i tried to do this, but the game crashed, so i forgot about entire thing. Yesterday, i launch homeworld, take a look at the frig, and i see my model!

    I don't know about the others, but i will surely make my models availible for other mods (as soon as they're textured), Dark_Axel.

    Well, i dont think you will see a fully operational khar selim in singleplayer... multiplayer mode perhaps?

    And i believe Zuiljin was going to create the Destructed Khar selim..

    And LOL @ ion frigate in hw1 .. you able to put it in hw2 as well?

    I was talking about Deathwish and the Khar-Selim, No1 - you should read posts more carefully

    And for my frig, i can put it in hw2 (i think), but it's no use without textures - it will be rendered with black with lighter stripes moving across it, in other words, it will look really bad.

    Also, We could use the operational Khar-Selim for training mission, instead of MS - it could take place before dispatching it to outskirts of Kharak system.

    And one more thing: I've completed the mesh for the drone, and now i'm texturing it, and i have a little question: Do you think the textures should be HW1 style, or should i make the ship look like it's been used - add some dirt, stains, scratches, etc.

    It has an early version of texture on it (i mean veeeery early, it has almost nothing to do with the final, except parts placement).

    hmm, i dunno about looking used
    check the hw1 Heavy Interceptor (currently remoddeling/retexturing it)... it looks more "used " then most hw2 ships... but i have to admit.. the larger hw1 vessels didnt realy looked used... its a shame we didnt see all these "USED" like textures in game... it became overpainted by the Team collor

    I asked Zuljin about more ships to do and he actually suggested the cryo trays and Khar Selim, so I'm guessing it's mine (*evil grin*) and yes I was planning on making a functioning one before making the wreck, whether it gets used in game or not simply because then it'll be easier to make more realistic wreckage. I think it would be neat to do an in-game cutscene using the functioning one showing it under attack using the original voices from the "data recorder" in mission 2.

    It's 304 triangles. It's much less than a probe. which is about 900, but the drone is much smaller, and there will be much more of them flying around. Textures' size is 256x256, the same as probe's and scout's

    Yeah, no1, i just noticed these details myself on the interceptor... The drone will look like it's been slightly used.

    Also, does anyone know how to make team colours in hw2 textures?

    I like your rec drone Deimos. It should look like its spent the last few solar cycles digging in the regolith, with grease visible near any hydraulics and scorchmarks near the thruster ports would also be neat.

    IRC, the Khar-Selim had already spent the last ten years previous to the launch of the mothership in transit to the outer Kharak system. This would be rather unrealistic. I think deathwish has some good ideas tho

    As i stated before, im currently remoddeling/texturing the kushan interceptor.... I dont like the Cockpit/front section of the model yet.. so this will be adjusted till it looks just fine.

    The original inty texture does not fit very well. I will have to adjust/add some textures. (i dont show the bottom since it looks horrible )

    Both to give a look at the progress and "used" look of a inty when it doesnt have the team collors aplied:



    (609 polygons atm.. will add some goblins till i reach the 825 poly)

    i was planning to make the Khar-Selim but i got too many models to make so i gave it to DeathWish...im currently working on the Scafold...but didnt worked on it in the last few days...im waiting to see if we will get a better concept art for it
    anyway Uber is going to take them tomorrow so ill work on it again this weekend

    Deimos yeah we can add team and stripe layer...the kushan bomber already got it...if you got photoshop and installed actions they included in the rdn tools ill explain how to make it...else ill make them when ill convert your models

    for some reason, i thought that the interceptor, actually all of the kushan strike craft were being modelled around the older concept art. to me the old concept art looks far cooler than the revised design that we saw in the game.

    Jeah, we will do that... but we will use the textures of the old interceptor.. the final product will be a bit of a mix between concept and original i think.

    Just compare the back parts of my model and the concept.
    As well as some other parts you can see some clear similarities.





    Dont focus your view to much on the cockpit area since that part doesnt come close to the final version.. just had to put something on it ...
    Texture is not what it will look like either... vents will be resized to concept art version.. and more stuff like that.

    oh, and the most left inty in my render pic is ofcourse the original inty.... just to compare as well..

    Wow, yeah the concept looks way better than the one the one that got into HW1. It looks kind of like a tiny corvette the way they did the engine area. Can't wait to see your finished one! Are you going to do the concept cockpit or closer to the in-game one?

    I dont know about the cockpit yet... We need to keep a bit of consistency in the models.. Zuiljin will take a closer look at the model for what it is now.. maybe he can come up with a nice cockpit.
    But i cant model much the coming 2 weeks, college

    But hey, the back of my model comes close to the concept doesnt it? (apart from the texture)

    Yeah, I think You should add it too. It might be some kind of sensors. It's front might look like a taiidan probe. I also think ypu should add a piece of separate texture to the front part of cockpit, (this part is the same even in the concept art inty)

    Yup, I'm working on the Khar Selim, also got some good looking cryo trays going but I think I'm gonna take some goblins off before submitting a finished version. It's so detailed that it lags 3dsmax to a near standstill when there's six of them on screen and I've got a 2ghz pc I'm afraid to try importing them into HW2 before optimizing hehe.

    I think I might make a LOD0 and a LOD1 version of the gobs then it'll be good to go. Without goblins it's pretty much the same as the original.

    Guys, if you find our work promissing, but don't have time/skills/don/t want to help, pls at lesst register at Requiem War forums and vote in polls posted there. It will help us a lot, because we have problems deciding eg. which ship model to use - there's too little of us, and if a ship wins with one vote the part of the team, who voted against, won't be satissfied, but if it wins with 10 votes, it means it's just better...

    cryo is ok, but i realy cant see the use of those VERY small details.. i can hardly see them in this render... im sure it will be even harder to see when the thing is textured in game... i mean, some parts are even smaller then the size of a pixel in the texture budget for the thing ... i know its a bit exagerated.. but you get the point

    okay, pc is a bit skrewed up, 3dexplorer creates an error everytime i try to open a file through it...meaning i can't convert my gmax/q3 model format to obj/3ds...

    anyways, i'll try to get some hours into that taiidani ms...

    the cryo try is currently at *cough*4600*cough cough* polys. 900ish without goblins. Over half those polys are in the "tiny" details. Everything on it is modeled straight from the original texture, so should show up just fine in game, I'll try replacing the scout with it tonight just to see how it looks. :-p
