    Maps bunker FAQ v2.600 (READ FIRST)

    Since the old FAQ is out of date on a lot of things, here's a new one.

    I merged all relevant posts from the original FAQ (thnx to Epidemik) in this post.
    I'd be happy to add anything you can come up with that can contribute.

    ** Current bugs **

    SGA's dont show up in the game menu.
    I added a possible solution in the FAQ below.

    Q: Help! I placed an emplacement/weapon/unit and I can not remove it.
    A: This is apparently an old WorldBuilder bug. For now the workaround is hover the mouse above the unit, bring down the console by pressing the tilde('~') key and run the 'wb_orphan_nuke_entity' command.

    ** Stamptool does not work in 2.5xx and 2.600 **
    Update jan 31, Copernicus made a fix for the stamp tool, see this thread

    Most original tutorials do not work anymore, luckely there are also experienced users who put (a lot of) time and effort in creating tutorials;

    Q: What if I am making a new map and I want to share it and/or get feedback/advice about it?
    A:To avoid the forum getting a mess there are some guidelines on creating a new thread for your map.

    -If it is a work in progress, add [WIP] in front of the mapname, mapname, number of players (i.e. 2v2 = 4 players) and CoH version.
    Example: [WIP] Angolangres Lowlands (4p) 2.301
    -If it is a finished map, do the same but replace the [WIP] with [New map].
    It is common to make a thread for a work in progress to gain feedback and when it is finished to make a separate thread ( [New map] )for sharing the finished map, so people who are looking for new maps can easily pick out the completed maps.
    It's also optional to add your finished map to the Finished map list

    Q: I Cant find the map editor (aka WorldBuilder)
    A: Make sure you have updated Coh to current version. You can do this by logging on to relic online in COH. WorldBuilder is located in the COH installation root, same folder as the COH executable.

    Q: When I play my custom map, the resolution is lower than normal.
    A: Close WorldBuilder before playing COH.

    Q: I cant get COH to work in -dev mode.
    A: Make a shortcut to the COH executable. Right click on it, in the "Shortcut" tab, look at the "target" line. Add "-dev" without the quotations after whatever there is. F.ex: If it currently says "C:\Games\COH\RelicCoh.exe", you should change it to "C:\Games\COH\RelicCoh.exe" -dev. Remember to add a space between the quotation mark and the dash.

    Q: When I use WorldBuilder and zoom out, theres fog that obstructs vision, how can I get rid of it?
    A: Versions up to 1.71: Goto Scenario->Atmosphere properties and untick "Fog".
    Versions above 1.71 up to current: There is a Fog button on the toolbar.

    Q: How can I add constant fire's to my map?
    A: Two variables are found in: ebps\visuals\environement\fx

    Q: Where to put my downloaded maps? (SGA format, single file)
    1. Navigate to your My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\WW2\Scenarios folder.
    2. "Scenarios" and "WW2" folders MAY have to be created.
    3. Copy the .sga file into the folder. (thanks corsix)

    Q: Why doesnt the map show up in the game menu? (SGA format, single file)
    A: This is a known issue and so far there's no fix for it (and it appears to be random).
    In my own experience, unpacking the SGA to SGB files and then repacking it again can solve this problem (although sometimes it takes 2-3 tries).

    Unpacking and repacking SGA's:
    Needed: Corsix Mod Studio
    Open Corsix Mod Studio
    Select "Load single SGA archive"
    Now you see 'data' in the left tab
    Right-click on data and select 'extract all files in this folder', click "Go!" in the pop up and select the next path:
    ...\My documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP
    Now it will extract the SGA to SGB
    Close Corsix and open Worldbuilder, then browse to the path you extracted the SGA in and open the map
    Once loaded,click "File" and there "export package", now it will rebuild the SGB to SGA
    Run CoH and see if it is there

    This fixed it most of the times for me, if anyone knows a better way, please let me know.

    Q: Where to put my downloaded maps? (SGB,multiple files, test version)
    1. Navigate to your My games\Company of Heroes\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP folder (note,this is a different path than for SGA)
    2. Create a new folder named mp if one does not already exist.
    3. Copy all files from the .zip into the mp folder. (thanks gremlin)
    note: SGB is mainly used for opening maps in Worldbuilder - most mapreleases are .sga -files.

    Q: How do I add a loadingscreen to the SGA file?
    A: After patch 2.5xx, place the loading screen in the same folder as the sgb files.
    Pre-patch 2.5xx: Create a folder called 'Loading" in the ..scenarios/mp directory (if there is none yet). Your image has to be in .tga format. Place it in the Loading folder and make sure it has the same name as the mapfiles. Then create the SGA in Worldbuilder (export package) and it will add the loadingscreen to the map.

    Q: How do I make it show my maps minimap in the map select screen?
    A: You need to make 3 .tga picture files. Which are placed in the scenarios/mp folder.
    So examples. Map is name 2p_wake island. So you have;
    2p_wake island_map_base.tga (dots to show where the player start points are)
    2p_wake island_map_slots.tga (same as above but have numbers by the dots to show where each player is)
    2p_wake island_ss.tga (The ss pic needs to be a retangle shape. Or the pic will go all distorted. This appears when you go to the Saved games/Replay select screen.) (Thanks MadCatChicken)

    Q: When I Play my custom map, after few seconds, it declares victory.
    A: Go to TER tab, and first click on "Calculate Voronoi" and then "Add territory under new points". Then save and play map. (thanks Revolucion09)

    Q: Where does it store screenshots that are taken ingame?
    A: In documents\My games\company of heroes\screenshots

    Q: How can I disable DX10 in Worldbuilder?
    A: Open spDevices.lua and move dx9 to first (thnx Mannerheim)

    Q: How can I add a longer map description under the minimap in the game lobby?
    A: Worldbuilder truncates the text in the *.info file when it saves a map.
    To add a longer description; Open the info file in a plain text editor like notepad, edit the text (max 255 characters) and save the info file, then open the map in worldbuilder and export the the map (Do not save it untill you have exported it! ). (thnx Nobody)

    Q: How do I convert all the SGB files to a single SGA file?
    A: Use "export package" under File in the Wordlbuilder.

    Q: How many resource points do I need for a map, and what kind?
    A: It depends on the size amongst other things. Here's a good example of the sectors from the original CoH maps.

    Q: How do I turn on the light on light poles?
    A: In version 1.71 you were able to do so by "Edit state". In 2.301 it is more complicated.
    Save your presets how you want it with the 'time of day' to night, then put the time of day back on 'day'. Then go down to the bottom to transitions, and click add, and add the new night .aps you just created. Put the transition at 0 and you are done. It wont show up in Worldbuilder, but in game all of your lights will be on. (thnx Steve6972)

    Q: Help, I placed a bridge and it is bugged, what did I do?
    A: You probably used a campaign bridge (i.e. oosterbeek_railway_bridge_00), these bridges look really awesome but are pretty useless and dont work properly (can not be repaired when destroyed). It's recommended to use the default bridges, unless it is for show.

    Q: How can I change a single player campaign map into a multiplayer map?
    A: Here's a description about how to do that. (Thnx Nobody)

    This update have been needed for a long time, thanks for doing the work Q77 (i hope you realize the responsebility to keep it updated )

    I think the relevant stuff from the other FAQ should be added to this one, more than one FAQ makes things more complicated for those seeking info, and the old one is not updated anymore and really needs a replacement.

    Here is the first little correction for the lightpoles question;
    "edit state" does NOT work with versions UP TO 1.71, it works ONLY with 1.71.

    And an additional question:

    Q: How do i play custom maps in SGA format ?
    A: Install the custom map launcher by Mannerheim Link to the thread, this is the only way to play SGA maps at the moment.

    I´m working on a serie of small tutorials for WB (it´s been going on for some time ) since those provided by Buggo have disappered and a lot of new people are asking for them. I would like some input about what format they should be produced in.
    I could make it in Flash, that would work like a small movie, or as a simple word document for printing, or a third solution.
    ideas and sugestions are welcome.

    Great, that would be awesome really, it's a pain that those flash movies dont work anymore, I remember finding them quite useful when I started. I guess something simular would be überfantastic, but even a normal, clear tutorial would do fine already.

    Akranadas said he would sticky it, so I guess it is up to him or another mod to merge or not.

    Thnx for the correction, and the addition, will add now.

    *Edit* About the bugged objects (not removable) , are these objects 100% bugged, or do they work occasionally, and, is it a limited number of objects or is it a mre random bug? I have no experience with this since most (all?) of them are props, I never use those.

    Nice Work Q77, stickying this one. Merging both would be best; as two FAQs is a tad confusing. If you want to merge them both you can, or I can go about doing it if you want.

    I merged all (still relevant) QA's from the original, would appreciate it if you lot could check them out if I made mistakes (always mess up the older versions compatibility).
    Still have to go through the replies though.

    Did 2.501 break the map support or something?

    Following the instructions in the 8th Q/A, either the map will not show up, or I will CTD when I change to it in a lobby, this happens to the other people I want to play with too.

    The maps are Dust and Stones(CTD), and 8p Vire River Valley(Does not show up).

    As it is now, there are several bugs. Besides the bugs a big problem is that it behaves differently for everyone. I cant load any map, nor the worldbuilder at all.

    2.600 - I dont know, for me all the maps I have that are older work fine. The only thing that doesnt work for me now is the stamp tool.
    Try repacking it with WB or check if you have the maps in the right folder My Games\Company of Heroes\WW2\Scenarios (happens more often that you might think).

    I have them in that folder - three of the eight maps are visible, the others do not show up in the menu. I will try resaving them with WB.

    Does 2.600 only use SGA format, or can we again use the SGB format (if so, what's the path to place them)?

    So far:
    - Added a little bugs-list at the top (plz reply bugs I forgot)
    - Changed the paths for SGA and SGB
    - Added the Stamptool not functioning to the bugs.

    I'm not getting any of that stuff, no red border, won't show me playable area, won't let me place anything on the map.

    I don't know what's up with a red border and playable area showing up. Try -dev at the end of the command line to the shortcut of WB.

    As with the issue you can't place anything on the map;
    Try pressing ctrl+c; same combination when copying something.

    Whenever I try to start a new MP map I get an open window rather than a new window and it doesn't do anything.

    push the open map button, then don't select a file and hit ok or open again.

    It should be noted that if WB will not add the .TGA file for the loading screen at all.
    You will need to use ModStudio SGA packer with the following folder structure:

    Your_map_name\scenarios\mp (all related .sgb/.tga files)

    Hi,

    Move the EF module file out of COH root folder when opening Worldbuilder , It should work fine then .

    Remember to replace the EF module file in the coh root folder after work on the WB if you want to play the mod again .

    Sorry if this may sound like a dead horse getting beat again. This doesn't seem to work with the latest patch for old maps.

    My example is in Windows 7 - Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\ww2\scenarios\crossing_the_Rhine.sga

    I don't see the "crossing the Rhine" map in the list under skirmishes.

    I am getting great white stripes on several places over my map, which are not visible when playing on low graphic settings.

    It aren't splines, objects or splats. When I select the place there is nothing.

    Any idea how to remove these?

    @ Dynamics, White stripes? You mean the map border?

    (Also removed the dead Wiki link and re-upped Nobody's trench tutorial on MultiUpload.)

    Sorry but yout solution of the Lyon (6) -map problem does not work.
    I recompressed it and it is not shown anyway...
    Do you have more tips?

    EDIT: I found the problem, there is a mod which is activated in the editor and the map now only works with this mod. Can you please tell me how to deactivate mods in Worldeditor and to make the map loaded in vanilla-coh (RelicCoH)?
    I already changes the *.info -file so that the system normally had to see that this map uses RelicCoH-Mod (standard game) which did not work, was that wrong or is some more action required?
