program malfuntions

When i start up the game it starts fine, when i go to download the first patch everything works fine untill it shuts the game down to install the patch, it says EN_2202_2300 has stopped working, windows is searching for a solution to this problem.

i've tried to download them manuelly and this pops up

could not determine the company of heroes installation derectory from the windows registry.
please make sure company of heroes is installed correctly.


when i try to uninstall the program it the uninstaller has a problem and stops working and i can't uninstall it so i delete all the files and reinstall it, same thing happens.

ive also tried to run all the programs as an administrator and in compatibility to windows xp (service pack 2)

im stumped please help i dont know what to do anymore


(oh and by the way i have a third party driver set for my video card, without it all my drivers will fail when starting a game, its a compatibility problem that vista and Geforce have)

Ouch that is one difficult to navigate dxdiag file you have there, Plox.

Firstly, the patch and instructions for manual installation can be found here.

Have you checked your registry for COH entries? This will be where the problem lies.

HKEY_Local_machine/Software/THQ/Company of Heroes

Delete that folder to erase all records of the game from the registry. The game also placed files in My Documents/My Games so you may wish to check there and delete as appropriate.

Next up, please could you provide a HijackThis logfile before reinstalling the game? This may highlight any possible corruptions that could be occurring that could throw up the patching error.

To reach the registry you can do the following:

Start Menu > Run > "regedit"

If you are unsure about anything within the registry, simply do not do it

alright so i did what u told me to now i know the real problem. but i dont know how to fix it. and its not with the patche or anything its the install. there was an error download the OFFfullspeechenglish im installing the game with the french cd i have to see if anything goes wrong and if not i will tell u more about the problem but if it works, thanks for the help

Plox82, I edited the dxdiag.txt stuff out of your first post because it was causing people's browsers to crash when they tried to read it. For some reason, when you cut and pasted it from whatever text editor you used, it removed all the line breaks from the text so it tried to display as one long line.

Please run dxdiag again and this time attach the result as a file.

Alright so downloading the game with the french cd didn't work. im going to reinstall it and type up the error

i have gone and tried to find this file during installation and it isn't there. there is no file of that name on my computer during or after any installation. how should i fix this problem?

ive done that and it still doesn't fix anything the program will install properly but no matter how i download the update the update's exe file stops working, and the updater stops working, there is no reason givin for this or what is causing it, it only sais, a problem has occored and caused the program to stop working


i want to know if i can manuely set all the files in the update to my CoH folder other wise i can' think of any other posible fix
