Game Crashes When Graphics are Changed to Highest

I recently just purchased all the DoW games off Steam. The problem is, when I get into the game and try to change my graphics settings to highest, and click accept, my game crashes. Is there any way to fix this?

I play games on a 22'' monitor at 1680X1050 resolution.

My specs are as follows:
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 9450
GPU: EVGA nVidia 9800 GTX 512MB DDR3
PSU: Power and Cooling 750W PSU
Motherboard: XFX 780i SLI motherboard
RAM: 4GB (2 X 2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR2

The game doesn't give me an error.log. When the game says "You have to restart the game for the changes to take effect", I click yes, and then the game closes. I launch the game from Steam again and the settings aren't on highest like they should be.
