Well, I've had nothing to do while except relax and holiday, so I decided to do a little bit of modding. After several long, gruelling hours of stuffing around and making explosions, I present to the general public the mod Movie Marines!
What Is It?
Movie Marines is a mod that adds a new race to the game, the Movie Marines.
Movie Marines?
An infamous White Dwarf article featured TT rules for an army of Space Marines that functioned how they would in a movie. Since Space Marines are superhuman golden boys, they would clearly have hugely exaggerated combat skills. In other words, they were all ridiculously hard to kill and could gun down half a squad in one turn. A 1500pt game would usually see a single squad of 10 Marines against your opponent's entire army. Even normal Space Marines would have 40+ models, including tanks.
How Do You Balance That?
Short answer: I don't. Long answer: It's tricky. I tried to get things working balanced-like, but there are some things that I know are overpowered. Despite this knowledge, I'm keeping them as-is, because the main point of this mod is for hilarious asskickery, not competitive play.
Are There Cool Screenshots?
Sadly not. I have no graphics-fu or expensive modelling programs, so everything uses existing models. Still, hopefully you can find the mod fun even with the same old shiny things.
Are There Any Bugs?
Almost certainly. I haven't been able to playtest the mod much, because I get bored of compstomping with the same race repeatedly. Also, my computer refuses to install the patches, so it's possible that it won't work. If so, tell me and I'll find some way to update and then fix things. However, since I didn't touch any of the patched files, I don't see any reason why it would perform differently in SS 1.2 to SS 1.0.
AI?
Not yet, although I will add some in. For now, you can only play as the Movie Marines, not against them too. Hopefully I'll run out of things to do sometime today and have it done by this afternoon, but it may end up taking some time.
So, Where's The Link?
Here.
EDIT: Linked file now contains 1.1 patch. A few bugs fixed.
