    You don't need that, the module file only refers where to find the .ucs file. It doesn't matter what it's called.

    You can make skins with alot of programs such as Painshop, Photoshop, GIMP etc.
    To see skins, you have to apply them to a unit and then load your mod in the worldbuilder (by making a new map in [modfolder]\Data\Scenarios\mp).

    Well, that's true. I did that because you will also have to copy the four other modules (DLC1-3 and RelicOps) and make edit them to work via your mod's module. I don't know myself how to do this, but I'll ask Lethal Dosage, he found a way. So be patient OK?

    wow thanks celestial great info, ive just got a little prob hoping you can help me out. i update the module with the info you provided and it works with the $123456 no key/range stuff, and when i put a copy of the .ucs inside the mod folder of local/english my mod stops working can you help me please.

    EDIT: ok nvm just thought to let you know all i need in the end was i copied my own english.ucs from the coh folder.

    I totally updated The Grand How-To, the modules are now correct, and you also will be able to get mods working with the ToV campaigns.

    Sorry for sounding a complete dork, but it still will not work. I changed the modules as per instructions and can now access the decrypted files, but it refuses to allow me to save even a simple change to volksgrenadier squad size, or anything for that matter. I get multiple 'unable to write to' error messages. I use Vista {yes I know} and yes I am using corsix as admin. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    I found seven to change, how many are there- I still unable to write errors

    I mean I am still receiving error messages as before { had found six and found a seventh after your post .

    Could you post your module(s) here in PHP code? You also need to run your mod with -mod [modname] -dev added to the target line of the shortcut.

    Now think prob could be this-

    Then copy your .ucs file from your mod and put it in [modfolder]\Locale\English, so the .ucs file will work ingame. (without the [ ])

    I am unable to a .ucs{where do I look} nor can I find the destination. Sorry and all that, just call me Homer.

    The .ucs file is located in THQ\Company of Heroes\CoH\Engine\Locale\English Copy RelicCoH.english.ucs to the location I mentioned.

    Yes I had found the english ucs,but where is [modfolder]\Locale\English,sorry if this sounds stupid

    Large hammer to head- you mean the folder containing my mod files dont you- I finally put it there. Also the sub folders are there to receive my modded data but all are empty. I tried again but still no luck, corsix still wont allow a save giving the same error message as before. Is there a way to copy the error message in order to paste it here for you to see. Many thanks for your patience with my limited computer skills.

    [modfolder] means that that is the folder where your mod's stuff is in. For me that's Improved. The folder is called the same as your module.


    If you want to show me the error, make a screenshot, and upload it somewhere, like imageshack, adn then attach it to our post. If you know how to use imageshack?

    I followed the How-To, however all the text in the game are popping up as No Range. Despite having copied over the RelicCoH.english.ucs so I can tell the mod is working, kinda.

    Sheesh, I just wanted to use the T17 and the M18 in the Normandy Campaign. As well as build them from the church so I did not have to worry about anything heh..
    All sides are only as Overpowered as you let them.

    Make sure it's YOUR_MOD\Locale\English and not YOUR_MOD\Locale\

    I made the same mistake, but if this doesn't work then your problem's different from mine.

    Also, I've done as instructed to get the Tales of Valor campaigns working, but it's still coming up as locked when I go into the main menu screen. I'm not quite sure what's wrong and the instructions are confusing me a bit. Do I have to copy-paste the DLC and RelicOPs files and modify those and then move them somewhere? I'm not sure what's trying to be said.

    Yes as said above make a double check that the .ucs file is in the right place.

    Also if that's not working, please post your module file here in PHP code. I also would like to know what the exact name of the module is.

    Nah, morty was right, I had done it hastily so I did not think to create the English folder. Which resulted in the game not finding the file.

    Oh well, something to keep in mind.

    I tried everything listed in guide. The mod loads, however, the TOV missions are locked (works fine without the mod), and when I go into multiplayer and attempt to host, the game crashes. I've tried numerous times to resolve to no avail.

    I really appreciate the info, hoping to get my simple mod working. The mod has worked flawlessly until the relic butchering.

    I did do the DLC1(2,3).module and RelicOps.module exactly as listed, including replacing 'Improved' with my mod name 'NOAIARTY'. I noticed there is also a RelicDLC1 (2, 3).module in the directory as well. Are these supposed to be replace by the above OR added to the directory too?

    I am confused by "Then to get the ToV campaigns and the Operations working, you’ll have to manually copy the DLC1.module, DLC2.module, DLC3.module and RelicOPS.module and rename them to something." Am I renaming these file names (what is something?), adding them to the root directory, or mod folder?

    Sorry for the confusion, I know I am missing a simple step.Like I said earlier, I can load the mod and play everything, except multiplayer takes a dump as soon as I start the game (and the locked TOV).

    You have to manually copy those 4 files to something like the THQ folder. Rename them, and then put them back into the Company of Heroes folder. After you did that make those changes I told you to do.

    It's still not working for me. I've double-checked the steps, double-checked the copy-pasted code and the ToV campaigns still come up as locked for me. During my confusion I copy-pasted the coding into the ORIGINAL DLC and RelicOps modules. Maybe this is where the problem is stemming from, and if so, I don't have a way to reverse it.

    Would anyone be so kind as to lead me to the original, unaltered DLC and RelicOps files?

    If so you're screwed. I can upload the original files for you.
    As said above you have to COPY the DLC's and RelicOPS modules and not just edit the original.

    Can anyone shed any light on this problem please-
    Then never use the 'Run in -dev mod' thing, because then it launches wrong. Add this target line to the shortcut: -mod [Mod_Name] -dev. (without the [ ]).

    My prob is when I try to alter the short cut it refuses to save my changes. I run the ever reliable [ha ha] Vista so if any other users have overcome this problem could one of you please enlighten me. In hope I wait.

    Make sure you're running as an administrator when you're making changes to the shortcut, and also keep in mind that you're editing the TARGET box of the shortcut and not one of the others. This is all I can offer, so I hope it helps.

    The fault specified is the name 'H:\ Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe -mod History -dev.' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.

    Thank-you for the heads up Celestial, the short cut saved properly. However when I ran it the game at first launched, so it must be recognising the mod which is further on than I have ever reached since TOV 2.6 but- damn it- then the box changes to read 'no range' What if you please does this mean and what have I cocked up this time.

    Firstly, thanks to morty because I did change the english thing and that cured the no range thing. Now for the new prob. In order to test if changes were being read I simply raised the volks squad size by two troopers and tried to load the Trun segment to check. The game loaded correctly up to the Trun load point but after clicking to play the game all I got after the intro movie was the loading bar starting before going back to the previous trun menu. Thinking the fault lay in my volks changes I loaded the Tiger segment of TOV only to see the same problem repeated. Can any body shed any light on this issue or indeed seen it before. Thanks in anticipation

    Is there anything else which will prevent a mod from loading, because I copied and pasted yours, made the changes, and still after attempting to run the shortcut nothing happens.
