Much thanks goes to Maniac for writing this up!

This thread is a summery of known errors and issues with the DoW2-Beta and their possible solutions. Read this first and try it, if you need more assistance then post a new thread here please. If you search for help there are a few files and infos that will make it easier to help you, add these to your post. Please do not post in a thread "I got the same problem" or similar without providing infos if it's indeed the same issue.

    Detailed informations about your problem.

Explain what problems you have, it's important to be precise here so that anyone trying to help knows where to start.

    Dxdiag.txt

    1. From the desktop click: Start > Run (or windows key + r).
    2. In the blank text field of the window that appears type dxdiag . Press run or hit enter. (WindowsXP and older)
[With Vista open your start-menu and type dxdiag into the search!]
    3. Another window should appear titled DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Near the bottom of the window click on "Save All Information"
A popup should appear with a progress bar, this may take a few minutes.
    4. After it completes a dialog should appear asking you where to save the file, I would recommend saving it to your desktop (automatically selected) with the default name and file type.

Click here to see this explained with pictures.

    Warnings.txt

The warnings.txt can help troubleshooting problems, add this as well to your post. It can be found here "My Documents\My Games\Dawn of War 2 Demo\Logfiles\". Note that it will be re-written every time you start up the game, so save it after you had the problem!

    How to post the files.

The best way is to attache them via the "Manage Attachement" button.
If you want to copy and paste the text in, make sure to suround it with the "code" tags.
    [ code]your text[ /code] -without the spaces

See the posts below for known issues and some things to try to fix them.

    Windows Vista 32bit users!

    Infos by Relic:

Some users running Dawn of War II – Beta on Windows Vista 32-bit edition may run into problems when running certain graphics settings. If you are encountering crashes to desktop during gameplay please try the following graphics settings, found in the options tab off the main menu.

Set the Predefined Settings to “Medium” or “Low.”
    Disable Antialiasing
Set the Texture Detail to “Medium” or “Low”
Set Shadows to “Low” or “Off”
    Set Reflections to “Low”
Set Terrain Detail to “Medium” or “Low”
Reduce both Effects Fidelity and Density to “Medium” or “Low”
    Set Rain Detail to “Low”
    Disable Soft Particles

The exact settings required to stabilize the game will vary depending on the graphics card make and available video memory.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our Beta participants. We are working on a fix that will resolve this issue for the retail product, and allow Vista 32-bit users the full range of their graphics card’s abilities.

Windows XP, Window XP 64, and Windows Vista 64-bit edition users should not encounter the same problems.

    Known game issues.

Issue: Very Low Framerate on Launch

Details: Upon launching the game the user will experience extremely low framerates even during the opening movies
    Workarounds:
    * Disable VSync
    * Run in windowed mode
    * Re-enable the Steam Community overlay in your Steam options if it is disabled
    * Log into the Live Marketplace before launching the game
    * Do not use any applications that force overlays on top of the game, such as Mumble

Issue: Text not displaying properly or displaying as "[]"

Details: User runs the game with Steam set to a non-localized region
    Workaround:
    * Right-click on the DoW2 beta in your Steam My Games list, select "Language", and set it to English. You may need to re-download a small portion of the game.
    * See this thread.

    Issue: xlive.dll not found error

Details: User attempts to run the game without the LIVE redistributable properly installed
    Workaround:
    1) Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Uninstall the "Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE Redistributable" if it is installed
    2) Download and install the 2.0 LIVE Redistributable from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en
UPDATE: There is a confirmed problem when LIVE is already installed from a previous title. It is possible to work around the problem by shutting Steam down and restarting it. There may be a delay when you launch the game as the updated LIVE redistributable reinstalls.

Issue: Game locks up or crashes during gameplay

Details: During gameplay DoW2 locks up forcing the user to alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del to end-task the program, or game crashes altogether
Workaround: *NEW* Try forcing DoW2 to run on only one CPU core using the task manager. Press ctrl-shift-escape to open the task manager, click on the "Processes" tab. Find DoW2.exe, right-click on it and select "Set Affinity". Uncheck all cores except for one.

Issue: User receives NAT negotiation errors when attempting to connect to public games

Details: User can not connect to other users via automatch or public games
Workaround: Update your router's firmware, ensure all ports are properly forwarded. The port GFWL is using to connect to other players is 3074(UDP and TCP). Also disable any firewall running and/or make sure this port is not blocked on it. Enable UPnP on your router and in your network settings.
A list of supported networking hardware can be found here http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/x ... pment.aspx.
