Actually the underwater mod might like this, may be just what we are looking for in the way of the fishie advanced desty. How many polies is that, its a very nice model.

The poy count isn't important, we can balance this with goblins and LODs. The model is awesome :omg:
Little modifications to its design could make this a perfect BC to our mod
Could you post also a view without smoothing?

lol , whats so messy about it? i can only see a few vertices that can be removed without losing the shape.

you dont need to add smoothing cos it looks horrible without textures and proper smoothing groups. the ship looks great. the front turrets resemble the Taiidan "Qwaar-Jet" Heavy Cruiser, of course this looks much more like a battleship with heavy weapons. nice.

Cs_Saj, Ragnarokx, the smoothing is that "artificial" smoothing that you see in the previews (but also in renders), this is used to hide the small-angle edges where the polys are connected. (in fact when you see a smooth surface, it's only a lot of polygons with a small smoothing)
Turning up te smoothing at higher values than about 70/89 degrees makes also sharp edges to be smoothed, returning that horrible effect and smoothing glitches. This isn't a very curvy ship so if you don't turn off the smoothing we can't see the real gometry. What you posted is only the smoothed mesh with its wireframe
I don't know absolutely how to do this in MAX

those turrets are the bomb, but the smoothing kinda ruins the model's looks.

    This is what I'm saying
    Please
1-Remove the old pics or the page takes minutes to load
    2-Remove the smoothing......
3-Too many polys :fright:!!! The model isnn't tripled, so when you will get it into te game, all the 4-sided polys will be split in two triangles. From 6300 could jump to 12.600. Also, too many polys "wasted" on turrets.
4-The turrets are excellent (but the frontal ones are a bit too "rounded")and all the model rocks. Many people will love it because of its nose reminds the Great Taiidan Heavy Cruiser... :Pirate:

CS_Saj Go to your modifiers window...there should be a modifier call smooth in the drop down. Play around with the checkbox for smoothing. I found this very nonintutive and frustrating with 3d Studio Max as it defaults it's modeling with smoothing on. If you create the modifier smooth with the smooth check out it should show you just the polygons. Smooth check out removes the smoothing, what the? Yeah that's what I said too. There is probably a setting somewhere in 3DMax to turn auto smoothing off.
