Hahaha, I already had a comical stab at putting this suggestion across in another thread ^^ imo it's definately possible, I've actually been working on a few things to make it like DotA already like on mission start forcing the camera to follow the force commander, altering the xp between levels down alot so he levels faster etc... not much chance of it fully being a DotA conversion until we get a hold of some kind of map editor though sadly, so let's hope that Relic aren't going to skip giving us any tools at some point down the line.
Well Relic should, because let's face it, DotA helped WC3 plenty...

No, they don't. If the camera followed your hero, you wouldn't be able to buy stuff off screen, tell them to go to point X (without using the minimap), etc, etc. In videos of course the camera follows the hero, as otherwise you wouldn't be able to see what they're doing
That said, a DotA-like mod for DoW 2 would be very, very good. The only problem is the lack of a map editor, as we seem to be getting the hang of editing attrib files (and there's a whole load of art content already existing for us to use).
Ah ok fair enough :P but yes, lacking map editor doesn't help very much sadly
Hear that Relic, DotA tournaments could be yours for the small price of a map editor... i say go for it.
Hey, I'm new to this game. Obviously, the game is partly moddable already but lacks a map editor. So, do you guys know if Relic also planned to release a SDK or any tools allowing us to actually add new content such as 3d models, textures and sounds to the game?
They've kept pretty quiet about such things, they said they may release a map editor and possibly other tools afterwards but look what happened to Company of Heroes...

I've got problem.I have 2 mods one is campaign mod 1.2.1 but i installed only levels.sga and second is allequip.sga from cheathappens and i want that they work together.Alwys only one work.I can play allequip (with all wargears) but i want to can equip anyone but i can't because of level
Maybe You know about some cheats or (FREE!) trainer so i can fast level up?

man..if dow 2 wants to extend its longevity they really need to put in the map editor and other tools for us for us to play with TBH IMO
dow2 dota would be sweeet

dow2 wins the rts war or balances it out
Currently this is probably more feasible than most other mods like my IG mod as well due to not needing to add more models to the game, so I might just take up this project, would have to get some play time in with DotA to get a sense of what I need to do though as I haven't really played it before... *blush*
do that and get a guide and let some wc3 modders know they might hop on even though there making a DOTA game now called demigod

But I heard demigod had heaps of problems with servers etc. So far the multi gaming for DOW2 has been quite good and the player allocation system is similar to bnet so I think this idea would work great. But honestly if relic wants to have a huge huge sale increase for their expansion they should release the map editor real quick.
@caiphas: It really doesn't mean that DoW II would just blow SC2 out of the water or even it out, -especially- because I know that the majority of people I know who got DoW II are already completely brunt out on it until some big additions are made. SC2 has, simply, more content on release.

dota for DoW II would get me into multiplayer a LOT
Relic has stated they have a map editor that they use in house, but its in a rough internal shape (it relies on other internal tools and their internal network). They stated it would require quite a bit of time and work to get it rdy for the public, but they have expressed a desire to do so and have implied they are going to be doing this some time down the road. I would put my money down on first xpack.
If there was a DoW II DoTA, that would be so epic! I wouldn't even bother playing Demigod ect. DoW II has so much potential, and seems so "right" for a DoTA MP mode.
It would even introduce something new that no other DoTA mod or game has, item upgrades that actually change your physical appearance. In Demigod, you get items, but they don't show on your character. It be so cool to play a Warboss (or any hero) in a DOTA mode and watch him get more and more loot and change cosmetically and skill wise.
Can't agree more with you Paladin Might. And it will probably make more sense to do it after the expansion pack since there will be more heroes and units to work with then. I wonder if tower defence sort of map would work too. I think it should...
DoW2 is perfect for DoTA-izing.
Creeps are Scouts/Gaunts/Sluggaz
Add extra Creeps Tacs/Warriors/Banshees
High Level Creeps Nobs/Seers/Termis
Nerf creep DPS. Maybe add some wargear, make wargear purchasable by all commanders.
LA barb would need to be fixed.
tchiseen don't forget we have Guardsmen too. Which are the perfect cannon fodder for creeps, alongside gaunts and boyz. Stormtroopers would be great for tier 2 as well.
We got enough content for a good DoTA now! Damnit Relic we need some tools to get this going!

hmm.. when the ed comes out i wouldnt mind trying to make a couple maps i often do- footmen frenzy( hardcore lag) and X hero siege.. sorry for going off topic. i was going to post this myself but you beat me to it.
