You may want to ask Exo-Elite how to do it, he's been doing it but he also has been changing models and creating new units entirely so i bet he could tell you how to get it into the game.

I defiantely sent him some PMs to get started
but I think I got a pretty good handle on it now
I'm packing together my first sga file
of course they are all in the wrong directories
I'm assuming that I will need to have the exact same directory names as in the original gameattrib.sga
I'm doing some testing right now on how exactly to get DoW2 to recognize my sga file
since right now is just a list rdf files w/o being in correct directories
will report back when I have done more

You can just edit the troops epbs files, in there you'll find a line called
| | animator_attachments: {
| | };
Just add a wargear reference in there that points to the art archives eg. art\race_marine\troops_wargear\armour\power_armour_gabriel\power_armour_gabriel
And that will make that unit cosmetically add that item to items without actually having it, great for throwing on beak helmets, banners, halos to your hearts content.

yup
I was able to change all the heroes over to their rank 60 armor
although the apoth and techmarine are bugged right now
their armor doesn't show up
also the other thing is that I can no longer play multiplayer matches
because I've changed the attributes sections
when I tried to add it to the data section it just did nothing, clearly =P
anyway
I'm gonna try a few differnet things tomorrow
and we'll see how this goes hehe

I might Shuma after I finish up my current project, custom campaign mod, with larger squad for the marines, each trooper is different, armour, weapon loadout, bar termi not enough variation there. Also 50% bigger elder squads and 100% bigger orc and nid squads.
That sounds very interesting, specially the bigger enemy squads.
Nothing to the enemy squads, just edit the spbs, it's more the custom troop that is time consuming, every trooper has 4 sets of items they go through as they level.
Level 1/8/14/20 and then Veteran for Tarkus's squad on top of that, I want to give every troop their own individual look and weapon load out as they level up.
For instance my Dev squad has 5 including Avitus, but I haven't followed the general path per say of 2 heavy bolters, a missile and plasma, as at the start the squad is 2 heavy bolters, 2 bolters, at level 8 one of those bolters decides he wants a missile launcher, and at 14 the last bolter goes for a trade in to plasma.
so I took a look at exo's mod and yeah he basically changed all the models and the textures
instead of changing the rbf files in order to maintain the MP compatibility >.<
I will try to get the heroes done later today
we'll see how it goes hehe

Yeah lol, done most of the mod back in the beta and back then there wasn't no rbf editor lol.
so I was starting to do some editing of the file names
and just copying the epic sets into the common and rare folders
and renaming them
then all of a sudden
I realized I have no idea how these files talk to each other or are related in any way![]()
so I'm essentially flying blind here
I'll have to dissect the wargear mod by exo more
in order to figure some of this stuff out
till then... this mod is pretty much on hold =P

But what do you mean how they "talk" to eatch other, not unless you mean like when you get ranked up baisicly the lua changes the wargear command into the type of armour like _rare or something.
okay so for example
I was looking at the banshee stuff
and they have epic.model then epic.*** a buncha different files
does hte epic.model reference all the other files
and I *just* have to move the .model file over and rename it?
or do I have to rename all of them to common.***
also not all the files translate 1:1 so I'm not sure which ones I have to move and rename
and which ones I can just ignore =P

My mod wasn't designed like that, I was giving you a quicker way to do it, the quicker way would be to rename the apb file and put it into your folder you want.
hmmm not all the models have apb files though
what do you do w/ the models w/o apb files?
Well if they don't i'd then rbf convert their lua, find what things are in there wargear/attachment lines and put it in the place i need it in.

don't need the apb files at all
just the .model files
copy over and rename
pack into sga
load
finished the nids
tested and works like a charm

You can just edit ranks.lua so that the rank requirement for all ranks is, say, 1. Or perhaps 0.
Then the game automatically does it for you. So much easier.

Somewhere in there, config, config\onlineconfig or simulation.
Then just pack it in an sga and edit the dow2 module to include it. Works perfectly for singleplayer, 1v1, and custom games which you host. Doesn't work for 3v3 or custom games which you don't host. Other players won't see it either.

It only reads differently. As far as I know rank gain proceeds as normal.
That said, once this full mod is completed I'll probably use it since ranks.lua editing only affects most, not all, types of gameplay.

he is setting all the experience points fo the different ranks to 0
so you start off at rank 60
although I think you need at least 1 xp for this to work

Ledi you should be able to host it on filefront, Jaylo has his on there, I have mine and Exo hosts his up there as well and that totals out at up above 60 meg

I've hit a wall in the mod
like I said
nid/orks/eldar are done and working
but all the SM units use overlapping armor sets
so replacement is rather annoying
also I have no idea how to get the armour_items to show up
until then
the SMs will just have epic armor be the rare armor
and the rare armor be the common armor
and the scouts have epic armor

I think that method is much more elegant
but there are two things that I'm concerned about
1) when you host a game does everyone count as rank 60? because that would be kinda weird ...
2) when you join a game does it still work and do other people see you as rank 60?

I used the Rank.lua method, but since i suck at packaging .sgas i kept it in the Data/config/onlineconfigfolder to play it with -dev mode, but i could upload the file if you whant so you can make a .sga.
And if it works in ranked matches, i don't think the other players would see the rank 60, wich is fine by me, and i don't think your method would fix that aniway.
as long as other players view me as my actual rank in ranked matches using the ranks.lua method
then I'm fine w/ just using that method
as my method will definately NOT work for the marines
again more testing is needed

Like i said in the Pm, other players will just see the common troops unless you unlock the ranks. This is bassicaly a mod, the other player whont see it's effects unless he has the same mod.

ok where does this Rank60.sga file go?
The readme is pretty ass and it says to put it into the gameassets folder. When I put it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dawn of war 2\GameAssets it doesn't work. Where does this specifically go I can't read minds.
Ok I finally figured it out
When you replace the dow2.module you have to remove the old .module file you simply can't rename it to something else. Also the rank60.sga file goes into the directly
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dawn of war 2\GameAssets\Archives

I've replaced the DoW2.Module file (Backed up obvz), every time I try to start the game with the new DoW2.Module, it crashes before the opening movies. I changed it back to the old one, and it works fine.
Am I doing something wrong?
